The actual lifespan of a console can last decades. My Super Nintendo and Gamecube still work. PS2 and 360 still work. I think as far as graphics. Super Nintendo perfected the art pretty quick and was able to built a lot of good goods without having to worry about the graphics that much. Making for better characters, story, and gameplay. These days, many games feel unfinished and unpolished (with exceptions of course) do to focus on the graphics or trying to release it asap. I don't feel like the art has been perfected yet and with the scale of games today, an 8 year console life is way to short. I would say that as console scale more and more, the lifespan of the console should increase incrementally. I would think the Current gen consoles today could last 20 years before we would want to make a solid new console. ( As opposed to improving on the current console where it think it's fine.) The switch 2 seems unnecessary right now and the only real way I see myself getting it is if my Current switch dies on me.

Switch is doing so well we don’t need nothing new.
