Leukemia, and have a baby due in 3 weeks. But yours and JTs videos have helped motivated me so much. Have been in touch with a recruiter and getting all the paperwork started for joining the Navy. Got all the waivers done for my tattoos. Now just waiting on the criminal record waivers for some stupid shit i did when i was 18(luckily nothing too stupid couple speeding tickets and a weed charge when i was 18). Now just waiting to get surgery done on my ear gages to get them closed up. You both have helped put me in a position that could give me and my family a much better path than what we are currently on. Cant say thank you enough brother. Going for a PR or LS rate, and have the asavb line scores to easily qualify for them. Any advice for someone getting ready to go in? I have myself ready for the PRT, have the 11 general orders memorized, and the sailors creed memorized. Anything else i should have locked down before going to boot camp?

I used to get up for muster, take a couple of breakfast bars from the galley and put them in my pockets daily. So if I didn't have time to eat I could at least have those. The best thing to order or take to the aircraft carrier is protein powder or meal replacement powders for those times where you haven't eaten a lot. Cereal bars. Peanut butter. Crackers. A good shaker cup. A reusable water bottle. Those $1 powder juice mixes like Crystal light/peach tea, a good haircut clipper/straight razor/safety razor/handheld mirror so you can stay fresh for inspection. Just do a zero bald fade and let your top grow and edge up the sides. You'll always be inspection ready. As far as your uniforms,keep them ready. Iron them. ALWAYS carry extra patches for ALL your uniforms so if you have to sow a patch on for frocking ceremonies or change of command stuff. Eat breakfast no matter what. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Stay cool.
I was an IT on the Reagan back when it was in San Diego and underways were chill but boring. I ended getting my ESWS during deployment since I had a lot of time to do it during work. Going TAD to trash wasn't too bad either.
I was stationed on the USS John C. Stennis when I was in. Low key, miss that sardine can and weak ass food! Lol. Stay safe & keep up the solid videos, brother.
Are you in Yokosuka or Sasebo? We used to have carrier guys come down on the sub all the time after work hours. They always know to show up at chow time. The difference with subs is that everyone knows each other pretty well from the Captain down. You see and talk to the Captain every day.
Gator Navy here, so in regards to the lines, they separate the two services. The Navy has theirs and the Marines and Greenside Navy have theirs. At some point close to the galley entrance the lines merge and go Navy, Marine, Navy, Marine. Needless to say, because of this the Navy line is really not that long, however, the Marines are the ones who have long lines usually taking up the entire 2nd Deck. This is what happened on my LSD, I am not to sure if it is the same on other amphib's
If you're in the military you need to do what Shim does. Make videos and take photos of your journey. You won't regret it. Be thankful that you're in there serving. Manage your money wisely. Buy food in bulk at costco,99c stores, dollar tree. Get your air/ surface warfare pins. Get em! No excuses. Ask and keep asking till you get it. Get it done. Get some CLEP testing done while you can. Free college credits. Make the time. If you can, get some college credits now while you're in. Don't wait to get out. Knock out your A/A or A/S degree. Just go to your local college and sign up. You can also take online courses. If you don't like your current career choice ,retake your ASVAB. Get a higher score. By renlistement time you can switch to something else. Pray and ask God to reveal if He wants you to stay in. Don't let the opportunity you have to slip. Enjoy your time there. Make friends. Take photos everywhere you go. Have fun.

I did 4yrs in the Navy,served on nothing but carriers.I was a cook.Had a lot of fun,maybe TOO MUCH fun!!!!LOL!!!! I remember one time at sea aboard the USS Rossevelt all main power on tha ship went out.Can somebody say----OOPPS!!! Emergency batteries came on,over the 1mc we were told main power would be out for 3 hours!!! YEAH-BOYYYYYYY!!!LOL!!! Somebody somewhere did a MAJOR -BOO-BOO!!! So the entire ship had a STAND-TO,nobody moves anywhere on tha-boat!!! Had a 3 hour lunch-break,YEAH!!! After 3 hours tha-power was restored and everyone went back to work,BOO!!! THE END.

But in port as always we worked days, had seven duty sections so it wasn't bad at all. The only thing I disliked was having the balls to 8 watch and having to go right back to work, no sleepers for me.

That mail carrier is called a RAS (replenishment at sea) when another ship pulls up and a helo starts bringing it over and we hook cables up to pass stuff from ship to ship
