People mocking Chinese qualities needs to realize this: your average Walmart stuffs are manufactured by Chinese country-side factories usually run by local farmers. More premium products such as Lenovo or other non-apple electronics are manufactured by better factories in smaller cities. Apple/Tesla/Huawei products are manufactures in larger cities with better facilities. And then there is military gears and equipments that got the best of the best manufacturing assets and talents. It's a tiered system with a vast talent pool, and Chinese military complex can pick the best talents and the process to serve its mission.

There was a big scandal in Taiwan in early this year where a Taiwanese congress legislator sent their helmet and plates to the US and compared them with Chinese (Official/AliExpress) and American kits. They found out American kits are the best in overall protection and deformation, while Chinese kits offered similar protection but with much cheaper price. Taiwanese kits came in last with the worst protection and very expensive price. The whole fiasco forced Taiwanese MoD to announce development of level IV plates (whereas they only had level III for their infantry in the past).
There are many more scandals for them coming, I think. There is a certain partisan group in Taiwan, that wishes to hand over the island to China, if possible, and looks down-upon its former allies. Really sad development. And also not supported, even by a part of their voters...
I was in the People’s armed police force in China, technically not the PLA but we got the same gear. That helmet is 120% not a real issued one especially if you bought it online. I’ve seen very good copies but you can’t expect to get your hands on real gear from a country that protects it’s high school exam papers with special forces usually deployed around nuclear weapons

Anyone thats ever been to Shenzhen and has in anyway been involved in manufacturing would know how fast prototyping and R&D can go in China. I have to admit that this helmet performed better than I initially expected. why would it be used ? Chinese engineers are by far the smartest engineers in the world, and don't need high school drop outs in this video for their research.
Doubt videos of ballistic tests against bullets would be taken seriously now after Ukraine war. China has been watching the Ukraine war very closely and monitored the effectiveness of equipments. Chances of you surviving a hit in the head from a gunshot is slim because if they can shoot your head, expect 5-6 more shots aimed at your chest before you can even react. The chances of you just getting shot once in the helmet is too low for them to consider making more advanced helmets, they just need the helmet to protect against shrapnels and that's like 90% of the damage soldiers will take. There are footages of trench combat where soldiers get whole magazines unloaded into their head and body before they can even react. No amount of helmet engineering would protect a soldier from that. Building helmet around being able to protect against a single higher caliber bullet is pretty much a waste of time.

Bro that helmet well exceeded expectation. You guys literally shot 6 or 7 bullets on the same helmet and its still retained its shape and form. It all protected the first 4 shots with ease.
9mm and .44 magnum pretty much did that. It's as good as a PASGT helmet, which is unsurprising, since I suspect that China's military is about on par equipment wise as whatever the US had in the 90's.

That shrapnel is way too dense and is going way too fast to care about any ballistic protection. It makes holes going to the basement of five-story concrete buildings, and it keeps going for another five to ten feet through the soil lol. They're about as nasty as it comes.
It depends, countries that could afford to, would just use blue painted versions of their helmets. In Canada, when we used the M1, the steel and liner parts of the helmet were painted blue (so they would switch depending on the situation). After that, peacekeepers were first issued painted, then fabric covered PASGT helmets, and now it's the CG634 with a fabric cover.

On top of the corruption within the PLA military. It wouldn't be a far stretch for someone to assume that the helmets and body armor, could very well be made in the same factories. Using the same crap materials.

If you’re looking for the lowest bidder then you’ll absolutely get garbage, on the flip side my Audi has a bunch of Chinese made components in it, and so do most of the high end appliances in my home.
Let’s just say that if you’re going to try to shaft any buyer on quality, the CPC isn’t the one you’d choose to try that shit on, lest your organs be required for someone else’s body.

Anyone thats ever been to Shenzhen and has in anyway been involved in manufacturing would know how fast prototyping and R&D can go in China. I have to admit that this helmet performed better than I initially expected. why would it be used ? Chinese engineers are by far the smartest engineers in the world, and don't need high school drop outs in this video for their research.

Doubt videos of ballistic tests against bullets would be taken seriously now after Ukraine war. China has been watching the Ukraine war very closely and monitored the effectiveness of equipments. Chances of you surviving a hit in the head from a gunshot is slim because if they can shoot your head, expect 5-6 more shots aimed at your chest before you can even react. The chances of you just getting shot once in the helmet is too low for them to consider making more advanced helmets, they just need the helmet to protect against shrapnels and that's like 90% of the damage soldiers will take.
There are footages of trench combat where soldiers get whole magazines unloaded into their head and body before they can even react. No amount of helmet engineering would protect a soldier from that. Building helmet around being able to protect against a single higher caliber bullet is pretty much a waste of time.
In fact, this helmet is already being gradually phased out.

Need shrapnel tests since that's one of the main functions of a helmet. Not necessarily close range rifle shots...
It would be really cool if they could simulate a tungsten projectile from a himars rocket and test that against the helmet.
9mm and .44 magnum pretty much did that. It's as good as a PASGT helmet, which is unsurprising, since I suspect that China's military is about on par equipment wise as whatever the US had in the 90's.

@@EmmettMontanaroI mean, you can see what an M30A1 munition does to Russian ballistic helmets with a quick google search, it's just a bunch of little clean holes. That shrapnel is way too dense and is going way too fast to care about any ballistic protection. It makes holes going to the basement of five-story concrete buildings, and it keeps going for another five to ten feet through the soil lol. They're about as nasty as it comes.

It depends, countries that could afford to, would just use blue painted versions of their helmets. In Canada, when we used the M1, the steel and liner parts of the helmet were painted blue (so they would switch depending on the situation). After that, peacekeepers were first issued painted, then fabric covered PASGT helmets, and now it's the CG634 with a fabric cover.
