I just visited here over the weekend from San Diego. It was so much fun! The soup was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. And it took me by absolute surprise. This video is wonderful. Thank you!

Wow what an easy recipe. Thank you for posting this. When I lived in California we would always go north from Orange County just to go to Pea Soup Andersen's and the little danish town nearby for all their pastries. Oh what a wonderful place that was. How I miss the "old" days.

I stopped there many times over the years with my late mother on our way up north to see after my grandmother who had become severely brain damaged after a fall. Thank you for bringing back some pleasant memories of years gone by.

Thank you for this recipe. I'm mourning the loss of the Andersen Restaurant in Buellton, but this will allow my family to make our own famous pea soup!

Ty for your recipe. I planned on making this with the ham hock and substitute vegetable broth, would that work? I remember eating at Andersen's many years ago when I was a kid with my grandparents on our way to San Francisco. Ever since then, I've been a fan of the soup.

My friend's and I were on a surf trip from Santa Cruz to Rincon, Malibu and places unknown in 1966. I was 15 years. Our car car broke down and we stayed in Buellton for a week.
Slept in the 1956 Chevrolet station wagon. My father came down and repaired the engine. We went to Andersen's and had split pea soup everyday ... it was great!

This is one of the most charming stories and memories of pea soup Anderson I have ever heard! Thank you for sharing this memory from your youth. I can’t help but wonder if you and your friends may have been the teenagers who set the record for most bowls of soup, consumed at one sitting! Jo

Is there a recipe for the Andersen's bread as well?

My Cheddar cheese biscuits would be fabulous with the pea soup and so much easier to make than the rustic bread!

I ate there once, and the soup was scorched and beyond edible. I complained to my server, and she brought out a second bowl, that was scorched, too. I explained to her that if the soup is scorched, it's garbage...
