    This is a do it yourself edge lit RGB LED sign that can change colors. I used an Arduino Pro Mini for this project. I also used my homemade cnc machine for engraving and cutting the acrylic.

    could a pattern be freehanded with a dremel? correct me if im wrong but it’s just the rough surface of the plexiglass that catches the light right?

    If i buy a large roll of leds then i would also have to buy the remotes and power supplies and solder....for each sign but the kits seems pretty reasonable and i can juat keep them on hand ..1 kit per sign made...

    Hi, thanks for your work, I hope you continue uploading more videos, I really liked your work, you really have talent, a question which program you are working on to create the GRBL / CAD codes, are grbl codes?

    • @LeonvandenBeukel
      @LeonvandenBeukel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Augusto, thanks for your nice comment. For creating GRBL I mainly use Easel and Inkscape together with the Gcodetools extension.

    How did you make the control switch? I know it is Arduino, but do you have a tutorial on that or source? Love the DIY CNC

      I meant, the button for color changing LED

    • @LeonvandenBeukel
      @LeonvandenBeukel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The button is a tactile switch connected as an input to the Arduino. There are 6 color patterns defined in the code that toggles to the next pattern each time the button is pressed (and starting at the first again after the last one is reached and the button is pressed again). I hope this answers your question.

    Hi, very nice. Is it possible to connect the micro USB port directly to the LED strip without the arduino? I was trying the same but, for first try, without changing colors?

    • @LeonvandenBeukel
      @LeonvandenBeukel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Lopez yes that's possible but do not use a computer USB port directly but always use an external power supply because a computer USB port can only draw 500mA of current. You might also have to use some resistors

      thanks for your reply. but for a 5V led strip should do the job right?

    Hey Leon, I made my cnc machine based on your model and she works fine. Now I'm busy for a month to make a code via inkscape and this is not possible. On youtube it looks so comfortable. On your movie it's so fast I can hardly follow. Perhaps a tuturial how to make code with inkscape?
    (May also be in Dutch)
    regards

    • @LeonvandenBeukel
      @LeonvandenBeukel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dirk, nice to hear you made a cnc machine yourself! Instead of using the gcode tools within Inkscape I mostly use the online version of Easel (easel.inventables.com/) nowadays. You create simple designs with this software but you can also import svg files (that you can create in Inkscape). If you want to generate gcode from this design you can do this by going to "Advanced" -> "Generate gcode" -> "Export gcode". The gcode file that you've downloaded can than be send to the machine with software like Universal GCode Sender (github.com/winder/Universal-G-Code-Sender). Goodluck and if you have any questions let me know!
