Looked a bit of a challenge that one Mick. Frozen ground is nightmare. I find the nail style pegs go in a bit easier but when you’re on the top of a mountain scratching around for a rock it can still be a pain. That book must be getting filled up by now. I re reckon volume 2 will be needed by the summer 😂
Yep it was memorable Paul, I was very lucky to get a superb sunset and sunrise. There's mostly positive comments in that book... There's a Real angry one too. U might have read it. I'll look for some nail pegs. Cheers. Frozen winter camping... Always the best. ATB. Paul 👍
Oh Twiggy! I’ve been waiting for this 🙏🏻 because we were both out that night enjoying that same sun set and same sunrise, pink skies and yes same cold! Frozen milk…luckily I had plenty of snow to melt for my morning brew and porridge 😊I really loved your filming in this video. Beautiful shots and the music you use is iconic to your escapes. Yes! There’s a new pencil ✏️ I noticed that when I was last up there with dad ❤even though these camps aren’t easy in the freeze they sure are my favourite so upmost respect to you Mick for taking the time to record your camp for us and make this beautiful video. Thank you and safe travels, SoloSarah ❤
Sarah 🙂, great to get your message.. We shared the same cold that night, new pencil too! There's a pretty angry comment in that book, all the rest are positive. So glad to upload again I've gone rusty, back on it now.Took me forever to edit, so love that place up there. Thanks for the kind vibes you made my day, loving your success... Keep them coming Sarah 👍🏕️🙂
@@twiggyescapes that comment made me feel a bit sad on a day that I’d ran up there (in storm Pia) as I wasn’t feeling my usual happy self, regardless, I left feeling so much better! certainly recharged me and there’s nothing like getting out in the wind to lift my spirits. I’ll be out again soon when another window of opportunity arises and I hope you are too! Something funny happened today. One of our loyal subscribers recognised me and stopped to say hello 🤝 he’s been up to sign the 📖 ha ha! Made my day ☺️
Always makes us feel better when we get out, sometimes have to really push myself to do it, only 1 negative comment isn't bad at all.. Just surprised me at the time. You're famous now Sarah people will recognise u everywhere... Have to wear shades. Hope to get out this weekend... Hope u get out soon. Need to watch your vid. 🏕️🙂
Freezing/sub zero camps add a whole extra challenge to wild camping. You did well Mick. I normally carry a set of snow anchors for my main guy lines, as they are great in soft ground, but the nail type - like what @SoloSarahBX used are probably best as they are hardened and meant to be driven in by a Mk1 percussive maintenance tool for when you are dealing with frozen ground with little snow cover..
Cheers for the tips Andy, I was feeling a bit crap on this camp as I had just recovered from covid.. Felt the cold more.... Going to get some nails ATB👍
That was a difficult one twiggy and reminded me of a camp I did this time last year which frightened me a bit as after putting the tent up I couldn’t get warm and I said If I’m not warm my 8pm I’m packing up but came good just before my deadline. TFS and ATB 🏕️👍
Nothing worse than getting cold in your body, u did right thing setting a deadline... Glad it worked out for you in the end... Winter camping is very rewarding though. 🏕️👍Cheers ATB to u Dave
Can't beat a nice bottle of crispy, chewy milk Twiggy! :D Very brave going out in that lad, well done! I signed the book too, and intend on camping there some day when i get a proper set up. I'm also doing up my 15 year old Berlingo for car camping trips. Liking your easy going stly on these videos, keep at it!
Welcome back Twiggy. It's seems forever since our snowy wild camp. Lovely video mate, but my word, that looked oh so cold. I might head there next weekend and get my entry added to the book. Hope you're all recovered from Covid now matie.
Hey Mark, great to hear from you. Cheers. It's good to feel alive again. Thanks for the comment. If u need to know where it is let me know I can send u to right place. Got to get your name up there its awesome. 🏕️👍
Great video, Twiggy. I'm baffled by this angry comment you found in the book. What did they say? Are they against wild campers? 🤔 I use a peg puller that doubles as a trowel and a hammer. Grabbed it in Go Outdoors. Relatively light compared to all three. Maybe would've helped with the pegs...?
Neil, it was something about giving the location away... They definitely weren't happy... I've got a hammer but my bag is heavy in winter around 12 kg.. I'm normally ok but this occasion the ground was like concrete. Cheers 👍🏕️
I don’t know how you do it as I couldn’t do it. Add a mallet to your equipment then you won’t need that rock again. Milk and water under the sleeping system stops it freezing. Stay safe.
The colder camps are always the best, it's weird, the more I struggle the more I enjoy it. Cheers for the tips and cheers for watching. You always send me good comments. Appreciate you. Take care mate 👍🙂

I just bought an MSR copy Hammer for the next time, happened to me in my last video, luckily I had a hut to hand 😂

Good to see you back at it again, cold one but it looked nice with the views of the city. Sorry to hear you weren’t to well🤙
Cheers Dom, I did enjoy it. Weather was really ace... Felt the cold much more... Maybe it was a bit stupid.. Glad I went in the end. ATB Dom👍
Lucky you found a rock, I had a few cms of snow and couldn’t find anything in my last video, luckily there was a hut nearby 🎉
There's always a rock somewhere, no need to take a hammer... Camping in snow is so awesome.. Don't u think? 👍
Great views of Sheffield ❤
Yes it's really stunning up there, everyone in Sheffield should visit that place... Its a great view at night.
Hope you're good over there Alan 👍
Nice and cold camp ❄️👍
