whats your success rate with screen transfer? ie removing working display and putting it on another phone? I pulled it off once with an s5, playing card and hot plate but it might have been luck. Great video as far as showing detail goes...also props for not calling it an lcd like 99% of phone techs. imho/experience, he/she should have cleaned that bezel more but if it stayed stuck it stayed stuck
At this point I can remove an S4, S5, S6, and S7 screen assembly without damaging the display no problem. The S6/S7 Edge on the other hand have not been a success for me. For the former though I'm using a hot plate vacuum machine which makes the process much faster. Prying with a card still works but is more time consuming.
Awesome tutorial man. i have samsung s4 with normal display but with broken frame. As i know samsung galaxy has 2 bezel frame thick mid frame and thin front frame. I had succesfully removed the mid frame but i had problem for removing front frame because the display is attached on it. My question is can i remove the display and component in front frame without damaging it ? Thank for u attention . And sorry for my bad english 😂😂
Yes but I would not call it easy. I don't have a video to show you but with heat and careful prying it can be done. This is very hard to put into words but there's any area in the battery compartment where you can kind of pull the frame away from the screen. It is VERY fragile though. If I come across an S4 again in the future I'll make a tutorial but we don't see those here much these days.
Thank you. this video very helpful! i have a question. I removed the LCD screen digitizer, but the inside mid frame got some scratched. Is that will be fine?
I kind of torn the copper that covers the back of the display, some broke, some got lifted away. What is that, what does it do, can i replace it ? Should i replace that? What of i just press it against the screen? But it does not want to stay atached on the display.... But otherwise my screen is working perfect. Help me please, any advice is greatly apreciated.
I would try to flatten it out as much as possible and lay it back against the screen. Ad long as you aren't missing any big pieces it should work properly.
sir i would like to ask if the terminal or port of the flex to the motherboard at all the same? in all s4? because i would like to change my s4 lcd(shv-e300L) to the LCD of s4(i9500) because the frame of i9500 wont fit to the motherboard.. thats why i want to use my shv-e330L frame..im lost and confuse..
+alain ytienza To the best of my knowledge all Galaxy S4 screens are interchangable- not S4 Active or MIni of course- but I have not personally worked with the Korean version. The frames as you mentioned are usually different.
hi I did everything exactly the same, screen worked. But now I have some issues about the battery , its heat is very low and not charging. What should've happened to be so ? Thank you.
the digitizer and glass together is cheap now i have the s4 and wife broke again so it just needs the digitizer assembly now like $50 and connect to video cable and its still a good phone
so is it possible to move the screen from one frame to another or do you end up ruining the AMOLED in any case? so to get a new front frame are you forced to get a new screen as well?
+TheBlueElephant LP It is possible but not the easiest thing to do. If I can get a hold of one soon I will make a video. Difficult to explain but with a strong suction cup, heat, and steady but not brute force it can be done. For most people I dont recommend it.
what is this air blowing device, can you please send me link where I can find this, or alternatively what I can use, my wife hair dryer ) or some thing else?. Second I just want to change mid frame due to scratches, lcd is fine, is that possible.
Hello friend, a question and excuse the English why I do not speak it well, but that procedure helps me to change a casing to an s4 without damaging the lcd
Heat and patience. If you are very careful it is possible to remove the entire display assembly from the mid frame without damage. You will want to remove the logic board and apply heat to the backside of the frame instead of the front. I will try to make a video when I come across another S4 to demonstrate. If you are doing repairs professionally then take a look at the first machine on this page gocellphonerepair.com/lcd-separator-machine/ it makes the process fast and easy.
I punch my S4 and broke the lcd screen (nothing happen on touch screen) so is there any link to buy this? or what is the name of screen, i coudn't find 'just' screen. please help thx.
So usually i wouldnt need to buy that copper sticky backing cuz on amazon there one just like this for 102 i have a metropcs samsung s4 2 of em mine and my wifes she broke hers and i messed it up putting glass on lcd without the loca glue and cracked the corner lcd screen .screen was dead after so i tried my screen directly from my phone and works great but my question is should i clean inside where lcd is gonna go with alcohol pad or just put right in.i cant believe after an hour or 2 taking off glass screen worked then i cracked lcd with the space between glass and lcd i dont know what i was thinking i knew that the gasket would just keep glass on it but leave a space between glass well lesson learned but now should all s4 amoled screens work mines a m919n.i really hope so.thanks for video
You don't need to clean the mid-frame with alcohol just make sure that all of the old glass and adhesive is removed though so that yours will stick to the surface. My experience with Amazon hasn't been good though so I usually buy through specific sellers on Ebay or directly from a parts supplier that has consistently good parts. you can find both here gocellphonerepair.com/S4
djsmileyoflasvegas All Galaxy S4 displays are the same. As long as you use the method shown above and keep your original mid-frame you'll be good. If you buy the pre-assembled part with a new bezel and frame then you need to make sure that the description shows your model number.
Go Cell Phone Repair thanks for the help these dam phones cost so much.as long as i can find one under 120 ill be happy.i paid 700 for 2 new s4 at frys 6 months ago for metropcs.
If they are the same _model number_ then yes. So make sure that they are both I337, both L720, both I9500, etc. Those three that I mentioned are not interchangeable from one model number to the next.
+Go Cell Phone Repair Please check your screen/buttons/sounds before sticking the new screen back on. You can turn on the screens for a min before it starts heating up. The Motherboard needs to be kept pressed to the case at the back, so SOC/CPU doesn't get hot whilst you are checking it. Thanks
sammo bura I assume that you meant to say that you *don't* have the machine? If that is the case it is possible to use a heat gun for this procedure but you will have to be very careful. Very patient. And a little bit lucky because it's easy to break the AMOLED unless you have practiced a few times.
I had two phones, trying to get this to work, both cracked in a million places trying to do it the way it was done in this video. I caution you, if you buy one phone used to try to get this to work, do your self a favor and just stop now. YOU will NEVER get one off in working order. Dont do as I did just spend the money and buy the proper assembly.

Minor scratches to the housing or mid frame should not be an issue if that's what you are referring to.
Can I change just the frame without to change the display too?
Hi, great video but I cant seem to find the name of the orange double sided tape you use. Please can anyone tell me? Thanks in advance.

hello, can please advice if the silver reflecting coating below the earpiece is important... while removing the screen i also ripped it off....
+Ritesh Bafna Do you mean the metal piece? If so yes it is kind of important.
thanks for the reply... i am referring to the shiny sticky silver coating below the earpiece only visible after peeling off the LCD...
+Ritesh Bafna Attached to the mid frame? I dont think that will cause any problems.
+Go Cell Phone Repair please take a look at i.imgsafe.org/2fa338b.png thanks for the promt replies.
Ive never had that happen so hard to say for sure but you could always just buy a new mid frame. They are only ~$10

Cool. Good to hear.
what is this air blowing device, can you please send me link where I can find this, or alternatively what I can use, my wife hair dryer ) or some thing else?. Second I just want to change mid frame due to scratches, lcd is fine, is that possible.
You can use a hairdryer

I have a question, I have a S4 from At&t that has a broken lcd. But i do have a working s4 from sprint. Can I just switch the display lcd?
+Ian Rodriguez Not without changing the mid frame which is not easy. The logic boards have different layouts.
+Go Cell Phone Repair thanks!
Go Cell Phone Repair can you just swap the motherbord?
Not between those AT&T and Sprint. The mother boards are just different enough to cause problems when you install them into a the wrong frame.
I have an S4 for AT&t with a broken LCD, and bought a new frame, does it matter what company the frame is
Yes. You want the US Samsung Galaxy S4 i337/M919 LCD Touch Digitizer Screen assembly.
would this one work by any chance Samsung Galaxy S4 Black I545 L720 R970 LCD Digitalizer screen + Frame + Glass
Edgar Galvan If it doesn't have a frame attached to it then yes. Otherwise your board will not fit into a CDMA mid-frame.
Got a question, whats the black Layer on top of the lcd screen?
The digitizer is attached to the AMOLED and there is a thin layer under the glass that gives the lens it's color. Are you referring to one of those?
That's called the 'Polarizer'- Ian Chase
Go Cell Phone Repair , is the black layer on top of the lcd screen. ?
I punch my S4 and broke the lcd screen (nothing happen on touch screen) so is there any link to buy this? or what is the name of screen, i coudn't find 'just' screen. please help thx.
thank you very much good video. i will do my own now.

where can i get that blue thing ?? thanks
Viorel Galan Ifixit sells them.

Whats that Orange adhesive called???
It's gonna sound funny but the orange adhesive is actually called "Red Tape Adhesive."
Thanks for the info. Does "Red Tape Adhesive" melts when heated like other glue??
It would take quite a bit of heat to actually melt. In fact we usually warm it up to about 110 F after installation so that it will bond better.
What happen if i connect i9500 lcd on i9505 board
Nothing unusual. All of the displays are the same. It's the board and mid-frame that have variants.
Go Cell Phone Repair thanks alot ..
Last question ...
Which better board i9500 or i9505 ?
But i use ti method for change glass?
