    I wish I can click Like Million times. This video is awesome! I learned more because you name the parts while disassembling the unit. And it amazed me more when you showed how to try if the replacement works or not. Because it's going to be waste of time, if you have finished disassembling the unit then just find out your replacement doesn't work. So thank you!

    Can you just replace the edge of the screen frame (The silver edge that goes around it), since the screen itself is intact so it doesn't really need to be ruined?

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you compare the housings side by side you'll see the metal has different dips and raised parts. Some of it will have a form of insulation and its the raised parts that are probably shorting the mainboard. The circuit board is laid out differently between the 2 models. You will be very lucky if its not caused any permanent damage

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    its not that bad, this time you can buy a new screen with the frame, it will save all this work and you'll have a nice new bezel. Also it comes with the home and menu key flex already installed. But make sure you buy the correct model as there is a slight difference between them..

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    then we have found the problem, you cannot use a 9500 housing with the i337 mainboard. Its quite a bit different if you look closely at your old housing you'll see the metal casting is different and one of the heatsinks for a processor is missing

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes the front housing is different between the those models. If you visit etradesupply,com and compare the 2nd photo on each one you'll see the housing is quite different. I think the 9505 has the same housing as the i337

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes the version is important as there is a slight difference in the metal screen frame between the 9500 and 9505. I would email them and ask which one. Let me know and I'll put it in the description

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    you can buy these with and without the metal frame/bezel, . If you buy one with the metal frame you won't need to separate the screen..

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    during the 'front glass replacement' it has probably damaged the digitizer. Now you'll need to fit a complete screen assembly preferably with the frame as it will save lots of work

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    there were no camera modules available when I shot this, but a few weeks later I fitted a new camera and battery cover and sold it on eBay.. 'hardly used with one careful owner'..

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes, the digitizer is bonded to the lcd, try and buy a new screen with the front housing and you won't need to do all this work, just swap over the parts to your new screen

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds like you have a faulty new camera module, especially as the old one still works. Contact the seller with the same info and I'm sure they will be happy to replace it

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    from what have heard from other comments the warranty service is pretty good. If you keep returning it with the same problem they eventually give you another phone..

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    you might have dust enter between the screen and sensors or the edges might move a little when pushed down, apart from that is should be ok

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    you won't easily find one for sale as its not legal in some countries. If you do find one the cost will be almost as much as a used phone..

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    100% more sense, but lots of viewers jump in to buying a new screen before realising how much easier it is to buy the complete assembly..

  • @LE55ONS
    @LE55ONS  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes because its real OEM (original equipment manufacture) which is essentially make by the same factory as the original part..

    Great videos! Quick question...I could really use your help. My S4 turns on and the menu and back button as well as the LED lights all turn on but my screen is black. I can navigate thru the phone if I hook it up to the TV with an MHL adapter. I've taken the phone apart and reassembled but the screen is still black. When it first happened, I could actually get the screen to come back on if I put pressure on the screen in certain areas. However now that doesn't seem to help. What do you think is wrong with the phone and what needs to be replaced?

  • @LE55ONS

    So I'm curious. You mentioned that it's next to impossible to get the screen out of the frame w/ out damaging the display: I have a perfectly good s4 but the top shiny part of the bezel is dinged up really bad and so I wanted to replace the mid-frame (which that chrome rim is attached to)... but I'm thinking that's probably a loosing bet considering how hard it is to remove digitizer and screen. Thoughts?

    I broke my AMOLED screen, I could hear everything but there was no picture on the screen. I purchased a new screen & front frame (when you buy the screen with the frame the home button, touch keys, speaker grill & notification LED diffuser all come pre-installed & ready to go) so all I had to do was transfer all components, i.e. front facing camera, headphone port, speaker/proximity sensor, vibration motor, & USB board to the new front frame & put everything back together. Hope this helps.

    okay so im trying to fix my phone, I opened it up (un screwed all 9 screws) and before taking out all the insides I first took off the flex cable to the broken screen and attached the new screen unit to make sure I was solid and working fine, and the new screen was perfect, so I detached it, but it the process of detaching I guess I wasn't gentle and the Belt in the back came apart. so I buckled it back in, then reattached that flex cable (of the new unit piece) to my broken phone and the new screen works and turns on (no damage to the lcd/digitizer) except only the "touch" isn't responding. help. is the new unit I ordered damaged or is there a simple fix?

    • @LE55ONS
      @LE55ONS  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be a faulty new screen, have you tried rebooting while the new screen is attached?

    • @spartan456
      @spartan456 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +stella felony That belt that you disconnected was actually the digitizer. On lots of Samsung AMOLEDs, the digitizer runs separately along the same main flex as the AMOLED. I've had the same problem too. It was just a matter of playing with the connector until it was seated properly. You'll know it is when the white line on the flex is almost flush with the connector it goes into. Once you unplug that cable you need to carefully free the flex from the rest of the main AMOLED flex. It will give you enough slack at that point to hook it up properly.

    • @jackegan3734
      @jackegan3734 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +spartan456 hey, I had the same problem as stella, thankyou so much! I reseated the flex cable and now only the top half of the screen is working. This is an improvement from a touchless phone... do you think this can be fixed by reseating it again? Or do you think i busted something the first time i did it? The second time i pushed it in as far as it could go, but the line wasnt quite lining up.
      Thanks!

    Hi there, I have i9500 Black edition India variant. even after replacing motherboard and screen from samsung authorized service center in warranty My phone heats up lags and apps get crashed. I rooted phone installed custom rom, tried to reduce temp by underclocking to from stock 1.6 to 1.0 GHz but it still heats up temp goes to 70°C, normal temp of phone is 45°C its so hot I cant even hold in my hand, I tried stock kitkat 4.4.4 still no go, now I am running on stock Jelly bean 4.2.2 it worked good for couple of days but it has started heating up and lagging, it was same with kitkat as well. Service center wont accept the phone as Konx counter is 1, it has lost warranty, I believe there is no way to reset Knox counter, triangle away fails as well. is there any chance to fix my phones issue, what can i do, is there a DIY fix ? any help is appreciated. I really love this phone I'm big fan of this phone and I certainly dont want to sell it or throw it in cupboard with old stuff.

    Hi - I have a question about the touch menu and back button keys:
    Both don't work on my phone or light up. I'd rather not take off the screen/digitizer, and just get the functionality (don't need them to light up). Do I HAVE to change the home and touch key flex cable (17:03) or is the functionality governed by the chip underneath which is the charge board (5:50)?
    Basically, can I get functionality back by just changing the charge board (5:50)?
    Thanks

    Very helpful your vid, good commentary. Based on this I manage to remove my display-touch screen with no problems on my Samsung Galaxy s3 GT I9300. The issue now is I don't know if its worth buying the new screen cos for 80-100 euros that it costs I could get a new phone with the current contracts that the phone company give with no extra charge and just paying 11-22 euro a month for 1.5 years in which the payment is about the same for the monthly calls I do. But If I wanted to get the data from my phone then your way is preferable. What do you think?

    For everyone coming here with small scratches, which is how I found this fine video. Obviously pulling the S4 apart is not a very good option for a little scratch. The paint I just used is called Spazz-Stixx Mirror Chrome airbrush paint for RC cars and models, I used a normal brush though. It's also very cheap and on Amazon.
    This stuff is really chromey and perfect for the upper bezel. Filled in my factory chip nearly perfectly and can only be seen on super close inspection in very bright light.

    I don't know what the deal is, but the adhesive on the S4 Mini, or at least the production batch that mine came from, would not budge at all with heat. I ended up using a tiny screwdriver to chip 1/8 inch shards and flakes of the AMOLED off the "chassis", all damn night. The backing layer that came off the plastic wasn't even sticky.
    This gluing the screen to the phone business is stupid anyway, and why do they need to be so thin? I remember older LCD or bit displays in various equipment that absolutely wouldn't break unless you rammed a nail or something in to them. And they could be swapped easily because they were just held in place by the frame. These new screens will start to leak if the phone screws get over tightened at the factory.

    LE55ONS... Can I email you a pic somewhere now to show you where iam up to please? - I think iam at a point now where I can just start putting one complete phone back together but want to be sure. Iam thinking surely all the meat of the tech and the OS is inside all the circuits and bits ive already taken off, so it could be a case of just putting that all back onto the working screen? (obviously iam pretty clueless on all this and just assuming) but could you confirm for us. I could send you the rest of my spare parts in the post if you still tinker with these devices. Regards

    Anyone know if there is possible to get hold on a i9505 display with flat black edges instead of the black mist look, like on the black edition? And great video! Now I need to refurbish my S4 :)
    Thanks!

    would it be easier if I buy the LCD Screen Digitizer and frame already put together, so I only have to transfer the parts over to the new screen?

    Hi,
    Your tutorial was very helpful as always!
    I would like some info on the double sided tape you are using. Do you have a 3M part number perharps? How wide is it?
    Thank you in advance!

    Its not impossible to replace just the glass on one of these phones but its not something everyone can do. If you are in the cell phone repair business you will not make that much profit replacing the entire screen assembly LCD (AMOLED) + glass.

    Hey, I really need someone to answer this. My galaxy s4 needs a new digitizer and screen (screen is cracked). I see online I can get a whole new frame with digitizer and glass. But I want to know that if I do that ... Will my information still be on my phone like ... Messages, contacts, etc. ??

    If you break your screen just get a new one. The screen replacements are not OEM and much cheaper. The resolution will never be the same.

    Your video instructions were great, I replaced my digitizer/screen and it looks great but when I turn on the phone it says "no sim card". I have checked and double checked and the sim card is in right, do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Where do you get all these 'broken' smartphone parts from if this is just a hobby of yours?

    I only used the first 5 minutes of your video in order to figure out how to use another working screen to get all my stuff off my broken phone. This was much easier than I imagined. Great video. Thank you so much!!

    Friend, first on behalf of all your fans BRAZILIAN, I want to congratulate you by posting videos that you come.
    you and the person who takes over our curiosity with their wonderful videos.
    But I would ask one thing that many here have the curiosity to see who would be replacing the screen glass, only the glass has no display and the touch. I've seen many videos of people who have tried to do this and not just what you conceguindo.sera concegue the samsung s3?
