Lewis leaving McLaren was such a massive call. It has to be one of the best career moves in the history of motorsport. There was no guarantee Mercedes would eventually be a contender whilst historically McLaren are and he had obviously won a title with McLaren. Massively worked for him and unfortunately McLaren have got worse. Compare this to Alonso who has unfortunately made an absolutely terrible move in going to McLaren.

Yes there was. Everyone saw after Nico Rosberg won their first Grand Prix in 2012 that they were going to be a future contender. It was confirmed even more when they were planing ahead for the Hydrid Era more than any other team was at the time as soon as it was announced. Their domination since is purely down to all the planning they did and been far more prepared for 2014 than any other team. Even without Hamilton they still would have dominated. You forgot about Nico Rosberg and all he did for those 3 years from 2014 to 2016. The very fact he scored more points than every other Driver bar Hamilton shows the Drivers World titles was always going to be theirs regardless and considering how easily and how big a margin they won the Constructors in all 3 of those years, again it's pretty clear even without Hamilton a midfield Driver would still do the business for them or they would have just got Fernando Alonso who was on their shortlist as well as Hamilton and would have easily snapped at the opportunity considering how poor Ferrari were doing. You are crediting Hamilton way too much when the results say otherwise.
Thank God for you Talia, Not one of them above have a clue,Mercedes where working on the hybrid engine for 5 years and everybody knew that,at least in the first season of the hybrid era Mercedes were gonna dominate.
And now 6 championships with the team later, That was the best fucking career move of this century.

Even i thought ... wtf is he doing man ... but then 4 championships later and countless more wins and poles ... ya he's happy as fuck ... his career coulda looked like Alonzo .. great driver that just underachieved or just didnt make the right decisions

Graham Bensinger has set a standard for interviewers. He allows the guests to speak freely and has clearly done his research on each individual. I always look forward to his interviews. It would be nice to see an in depth interview with Tom Hardy at some point in the future. Not many interviews reveal who he is as a person. Just a suggestion.
I can still see him slowly and sadly walking away from his McLaren at the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix having YET AGAIN been let down by their reliability issues. I knew he'd made his mind up and sure enough, three days later the announcement arrived.

When you have 5 DNFs in 2012 and the other top 6 drivers had 7 COMBINED. Yea I would leave too. Lewis could've won the championship in 2012. He had 3 DNFs while leading the race at Singapore(which was the last straw), Abu Dhabi, and Brazil. He was running away from everybody in Abu Dhabi and got caught up in lapped traffic at Brazil. Red Bull IMO finessed the Drivers and Constructors Championship in 2010 and 2012 from McLaren.

It can be long if you look at it from a different perspective. Doctors train until they are 33 or 34. Some work only for 18 years and retire lol that’s almost how long kimi career has been. Don’t forget he has had time off as well.

You either aren’t successful and leave, are successful and leave like a Nico Rosberg, are successful and stay like Hamilton and others, or are successful at some points but then fade into the abyss like Kimi or Alonso. But there’s not much time, and someone is always after your seat so majority of drivers don’t even get the opportunity to become a Hamilton or Schumacher, much less actually becoming them.

What Hamilton didn't want to say is that the rumblings of management, loss of key workers, damage to morale and overall instability from infighting and lack of appreciation of the regular worker broke the camels back.
As well as the side whispers of Mercedes waving a bigger pay packet and the customer relationship rather than works team .. kinda helps.

I don't think Big Ron was bitter at all when Lewis left for Mercedes. He understood there were more opportunities at Mercedes for HAM to take his career forward. Lew will always be thankful to Ron Dennis for sticking to his promise to give him that chance to race in F1 so early in his career - they have that keenness about them in forever trying to succeed in no matter what . . .!!

Unfortunately for Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull pit crew made a terrible error that may have costed him a win. However, Mercedes should celebrate and be thankful that they minimized mistakes

AyrtonHamilton2785 F1 being rigged is not an opinion, it's a fact. It's all Freemasonry. Hamilton pitting last year at Monaco for no reason was 7 coded, meaning it is staged. They had to give it to him this year to make up for the staging last year. They then staged it again with Red Bull, the most reliable pit stop crew just conveniently forgetting the tyres. Everyone watching knew he was coming in that lap but someone forgot to tell the crew? Come on man, it's so staged, and the clues come in the number codes.

I remember being at the fan section at the British Grand Prix in 2012. I think Lewis had just finished 8th and Button 10th. I could sense the way Lewis was speaking that it was a growing frustration and I think he knew even back then that they were falling behind. The writing was on the wall.
This is arguably one of the best decisions ever made by a sportsman.
This makes me feel very old. I remember when he was just a kid.

Kiss Mlungu give it time, Renault have pumped a ton of money and resources into the team and everybody is waiting out for 2020-2021 for the new fia rule changes. Everybody is in limbo. Renault will be up in the pack and still not doing bad for staying in the middle of the pack! Although they’ve had draw backs when it comes to reliability but with the resources being pumped in there’s no doubt they will be a top contender if not now by when 2021 roles around. You have to remember riccardio took a leap of faith and a new challenge to help a team build a better car. Admirable aswell as a good career choice to prove both selflessness and also being humble from the top where he’s come from. Have faith and give both riccardio and Renault time. We shall all see! :)

I know this video is old, but to be fair to Lewis, he made a fantastic move! Mclaren were on top at the time that Lewis left. Mercedes were middle of the pack. I remember thinking WTF are you doing Lewis? You're leaving Mclaren for Mercedes? Why are you doing that!? Then He wins the World title with Mercedes! How did he know Mercedes would win the title after being middle of the pack!? Vision...? I think so. Lewis is clearly the best driver in the World right now.

Every sport is first and foremost a business, run by executives and accountants . You have to do what is best for yourself.
Mercedes was successful because of the solid foundation set by Ross Brawn in the transition from winning the championship in 2009 with Jenson Button at Brawn GP. The following year Mercedes bought the team. and I think Brawn stayed a year or two with Schumi at Mercedes and then he left when Schumi did. Now he runs Liberty Media with 2 others.
And it seems clear who their favourite team is.

I reckon Lewis would have gone to Red Bull in 2014/2015 if he stayed at McLaren for 2013. 2013 and 2014 were poor seasons for McLaren, and Lewis wouldn't have accepted being in a team in such decline.

The way I see it, McLaren used Hamilton. Lewis was a puppet, a kid. You think Lie-Gate was Hamilton's fault? He clearly took most of the heat when McLaren should've been fully responsible, as Lewis was most likely following orders under the threat of not being paid, or allowed to drive.
Think about the way he changed after moving to Mercedes. He started being himself more. His personality grew and we all learned who Lewis really is.
I believe Lewis' move from McLaren to Mercedes was necessary for him to grow and improve, and become the greatest.
That is just bullshit right there. Lewis has gone against orders before so why didn't he insist on the truth this time? Well because he had something to gain from it. He was as accountable as McLaren were when liegate happened. Funny how fast he washed his hands from that incident and played the victim
Lewis was a top driver he isnt going to drive for a midfield team
its not betrayal, or finding glory from taking what other's built. he wasn't trying to use mclaren's work against them. he wanted to take what he learned, his own intellectual property to see if he could keep up without the cushion of the family mclaren built around him and invested in him. he didn't feel as if he was the leading factor of mclaren's success, but was just a driver, and he wanted to be more than just a driver. building up mercedes by using his wisdom in the ever changing world of f1. mercedes has really benefited from lewis...either way, its always a joy to watch him race. he is respectable, not that the other drivers aren't

They started working on the 2014 Mercedes car from 2010 so they knew they would be competitive plus that was what ross brawn told Lewis in 2012. Also he only raced 1 season 2013 which they were already faster than 2012 season so he really didn't build the car. any true F1 fan knows that lol

the worked on the engine from 2010 (could be 2011) and probably the basic chassis designs. And it shows, the Benz is just a good year ahead of everyone.

Noumaan Hussain, the same rules that Renault pushed for as well. The same rules that Ferrari agreed to as well. Rules are the same for everyone. Its no different to anything in the past. When Schummacher was winning, do you complain or you were too young? Many moaned and they changed rules to try and stop Ferrari winning. What about when Redbull were winning?
I wonder if he regretted, because that first season their car was so not competitive.

@@skithewhitestuff But most of the criticism is based on hatred and is not meant to be constructive which is surely going have negative impact on his life if he sees it. Only few people gave him constructive criticism example Niki lauda. Also the biggest constructive criticism he ever got was by himself after the 2016 season.
