- Mercedes really have nobody but themselves to blame for Lewis Hamilton leaving them to join Ferrari. They brought this upon themselves. It will be interesting to see if that organisation will win races, let alone championships with George Russell, because I don't think that they will.

With due respect to Lewis's achievement, no single driver is bigger than the team, just like in football, every single person in Mercedes team is crucial. their mistake was not giving Russell a chance to drive earlier when they were in their peak instead of sticking with Bottas for far too long.
I felt sometimes......Lewis was undermined by the Mercedes engineering. How many times did Lewis......try to help with the car......when he was suffering physical problems due to the engineering? Is the engineering staff just too far away from the team on the race track? RB seems to have a much closer relationship with engineering staff, the car and drivers.
The criminal complacency of Toto Wolff and Mercedes is the root cause of Hamilton's leaving for Ferrari.
It exposed the serious mismanagement of the team and flawed decision making that has culminated in the F1 team's catastrophic fall from dominance of the sport.
Hamilton's not stupid, Mercedes failed him when it mattered several times; he saw "the writing on the wall", gave it a couple more years good grace, but in the end realised all his fears. Despite his smooth PR front, he has no more confidence that Mercedes will deliver a 'competitive car'; so he's leaving for Ferrari and a new adventure.

Your first point in video is debatable. Yes, MER made a mistake by losing BOT but I think they signing RUS was because they felt forced to since they feared RUS would get signed shortly by some other team. And also, they didn't feel RUS would be that much of a trouble maker (wrong!). In hindsight i think MER would have not chosen RUS knowing what they know now. As for not showing up at the races to congratz HAM. I think those were misunderstandings. In Sigapore they were there but far back from the area but a lot were also dealing with the crashed car of RUS. I still think A LOT of MER engineers and staff love and respect HAM which is what MER fear because when HAM leaves he will likely influence several to want to go with him. I never got a sense there were a sizeable group of MER staff that hate HAM. Never. I think most love and look up in awe of him. At the very least i need more evidence that shows they are disrespecting him. This year (2024) though its a bit unusual. He is leavin so i dont expect MER will be supporting HAM as much as they are with RUS. tbf, if HAM is still bringing them the big points they would be wise to collesce behind HAM because at the end of the day its more important to secure the WCC than anything else.
Your 2nd point in video is correct ("MER believing HAM needed them more than they needed him"). I think this is what made them realize recently that they goofed up bad. FER spotted this mistake and swooped in to pick up the pieces. Toto came out saying it wasnt him who made that mistake because he would have given HAM what he wanted (it was the guys in Germany who said no).

1. I think that signing Russell wouldn't have been an issue if AD21 hadn't happened (as Lewis would've probably retired as an 8 time WDC) or if Mercedes had produced a title competing car for 2022-2023.
I think that Mercedes became too arrogant in their ability to win championships, so they signed Russell in their belief that they would give Hamilton another title winning car which would then see him retire.
2. I'm still stumped as to why they didn't give him the ambassador role as it would've benefitted both parties. I guess the the Mercedes AMG organisation really shot themselves in the foot with that one as lewis would most likely stayed at Mercedes. But hey, it's their loss 🤷♂️

I think this is only spéculations
1. Lewis has never be the kind of driver calling for privilèges in his team towards his teammate... The list of strong teamates he had to deal with IS exhaustive from Fernando to Rosberg through Jenson.
Lewis has never asked for the status of number 1 like Schumacher or Alonso.
2. Lewis has never been frustrated by the arrival of Georges... He knows perfectly that he is more close to the end of his carreer than the beginning and if Mercedes let Georges too long in a minor team ...they might lose him to another Big team.
I am not in the head of Lewis but what drove him to Sign with Ferrari IS just that he knows that it was now or never and ending his career with the reds would be a plus... On top of that Ferrari has shown lot of improvements last year where Mercedes is not sure that they can offer a car that will enable Lewis to win again... The margin ton RedBull IS really too high and the freedom left to teams, in accordance with the budget cap, is too small to be able to catch RedBull.
The timing is perfect for his move... He still have 1 years with Mercedes if a miracle occures and enable him to fight AT the top of the grid (what I really doubt about) and then to move to Ferrari to fight for another 2 years with a probable competitive car in light of the New regulation...

Remember even though F1 bosses robbed him of his title by changing the rules in race, the team has to also be responsible as SL was 10 secs ahead of Max with 5 or 6 laps to go in Abu Dhabi and could have easily pitted him for new tyres instead of leaving him on worn tyres for 30 plus laps.
