I'm a little conflicted about this song being someone's first Tesseract song, because it has such an obvious WOW factor in Dan's vocals, but being unfamiliar with the band's sound means you also don't have context for how much he has pushed himself. He's always been an incredible singer, but on this song and the new album it's from, he's reached another level. I could recommend War of Being to get a better sense of what the whole band sounds like, but I also think you might want to hear some of their older stuff. If you want to hear some classics, I'd recommend Concealing Fate or Nocturne from their live show PORTALS. Dystopia is also a favorite of mine, but they have a lot of great tracks.
Great suggestions here man. I was feeling the same thing about it being her first song cause you’re right, Dan hit a new level here. I’ve been a die hard fan since One, and this song still blows me away every time I hear it. I hope she falls down the wormhole of prog Djent good ness that is Tesseract
Yas Tauri, finally reaction to Tesseract. their new album is definitely a contender for prog album of the year by many major music outlet out there. They released 5 album already since 2011. really under the dim light and underrated this band, but for even casual prog listener, we know this band is fantastic
Dan's voice is phenomenal. I remember listening to Tesseract One and being like oh my f..kin God who's this guy! Killing it ever since. Haven't seen you reacting to October Ends in a while now. Can you please react to DARK or Damaged?
Loved your stank face!!! It's so difficult to give specific recommendations when it comes to Tesseract, everything they do is brilliant. You should go through the albums One by one and just enjoy the mastery that is TesseracT.
They are my favorite band ever. Hands down IMO nobody can compare to their creativity, ability to put songs together and Dan vocals are nothing short of perfect.
Been a fan of theirs since the first album in 2011, finally making the trip to Chicago from Kokomo (45 minutes north of Indianapolis--3 hour drive) to see them at the House of Blues for the first time! Can't wait to make this drive!! And you can't go wrong with any of their albums either. They seem incapable of making a bad record period! Note: The album "Of Mind" does not feature the singer on this track, or any of their other albums. It's a guy named Ashe O'Hara, who took over for a short time while Daniel Tompkins was gone. They also had a different singer named Elliot Coleman on one EP, Perspective.
Amazing band, from past to present in their entire discography since early 2010s! I would definitely suggest songs like Tender or Sirens from their new album; same kind of emotional and goosebumps-inducing vocals and instrumentals in these songs and hence probably right up your alley😉
First of all i just want to say that this was a great reaction. Always love to see people get blown away by Tesseract and Dan, and your reaction brought a big smile to my face, so thank you for that. Dan has been one of my favourite singers for the past 10 years and more, along with Tesseract as one of my favourite bands, and this song just elevates the love to another level. Simply breathtaking and amazing! Regarding recommendations for more Tesseract/Dan, my personal favourites/recommendations are the songs "Tourniquet", "Phoenix" and "Dystopia/Hexes" from the album Polaris, "King", "Juno" and "Beneath My Skin/Mirror Image" from the album Sonder, as well as the song "April" from their first album One. Most of all i'd recommend listening to the entirety of their 2nd album Altered State. While Dan doesn't sing on that album, the singer who did (Ashe O'Hara) really knocked it out of the park with his performance, along with the rest of the guys in the band, and to this day it's their best album from start to finish imo. It really refined and evolved the sound they brought on One, and for me it's the purest Tesseract experience. Lastly, if you want to hear some of Dan's work outside of Tesseract i'd go with the songs "Ruins" and "Wounded Wings" from his solo-album Ruins along with the songs "Idle Minds" and "The Constant" from the album Guiding Lights by Skyharbor (In truth i'd recommend the whole album. One of the best i've heard the past 10 years). No matter which songs or albums you may choose, be it from me or others, i hope you'll enjoy what you hear and i'm looking forward to watching more of your reactions in the future. Wishing you and everyone else a great day! 😊
Chills. All. Damn. Day. I love this band. Daniel is on another level. And the musicianship is on another level. Amos and Acle and Joey….. just stupid good. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I personally started with Concealing Fate(Album) then I think from that time to now Dan Tompkins had many other side projects too, I think he also sought classical training for Voice or something music related. There was one time for the album Altered State they had a different vocalist, Ashe O'Hara, he's pretty good too.
Been a big tesseract fan for a long time and it's hard to say what to listen to. Anything from Altered State needs the entire section to fulfill the one song (album is broken I to 4 movements each one being 2-3 songs), but that album is amazing. It also has a different vocalist. The past 2 albums with Daniel have been phenomenal, but this new one is next level song writing from everyone
Hey Tauri! I've been listening to this band since 2013 and all I can say is that one should be listening to their album in its entirety to get the full experience. It's like the band intended an album to be a whole song, just divided into sections depending on how many tracks there are. A great example would be Altered State which is divided into 4 chapters, with 2 to 3 tracks in each. Another one is their 2018 release, Sonder, which seems like a 36-minute song divided into 7 sections. Their latest release is basically a whole console game (which the band made themselves) in story mode. This is how talented Tesseract are in their craft.
everything in the comments is spot and consistent. and that's something you'll notice about them. every time i've seen them the show is super tight and spot on. amos and jay are one of the tightest rhythm sections out there and are really under rated imo. a few years back they played out in phoenix and dan's voice was out from laryngitis (i think) and so they just played an instrumental set. honestly, it was awkward but it was still interesting to pay more attention to the band. i think dan's best performance came from when he left tesseract and sang for sky harbor, specifically anything from 'blinding white noise'. and my favorite tesseract album is 'altered state' where ashe sang. though 'war of being' is giving it a run for its money. also, check out ashe in his band, voices from the fuselage.
Must listen to the 11 minute title track from this War of Being album if you want to hear a good encapsulation of this band. I've been a Tesseract fan from the beginning and this song is their most epic tune IMHO! BTW... if you want some chills, listen to Tender and Sirens from this album.
Its hard to pick a few there are so many but if i was to stick to the new album the title track war of being from the album war of being is an 11 minuite masterpiece that showcases all their sounds from previous albums in one track as a thank you and a "were back" for the fans :)
Best band ever, no other band can reach their level in my world :) Listen to their new album "War of Being" from start to finish, I think you'll enjoy that. Also, the previous release "Sonder" is beautiful and groovy. Nice reaction!
The album this song is off of is the new album and it’s easily my AOTY and all their previous albums are also near perfect as well. Can’t really go wrong with any song but my favorites are Concealing Fate pt.1 (portals version) Natural Disaster King Dystopia Hexes Beneath my skin/Mirror Image War of Being Hollow (new version) Lament (live lockdown session)
How is this still the only TesseracT song on the channel? My knowledge of their catalogue is very limited, but Juno (music video or Bloodstock 2019), Hexes (live at studio), and Tourniquet (Portals session) are my recommendations.
Their song Disappear has one of my fav guitar riffs. I love that one but it isnt nearly as proggy as most of their. Singularity is one of my favs from them and its with a different singer that was also pretty good. Funny story Dan IMO wasnt nearly this good early on, but now he sits number 1 for me after War of being album. Echo is awesome from latest album.
Tesseract - my favourite prog band in the past decade or so! Honestly, they dont have a bad album in their discography. Stellar songwriters!
Their music is so peak
This is honestly one of the best records ever made. Period.
This, King and Juno🤌🏾
@@justonperez9779 those are good songs, but i think he meant album, sonder was a decent album just really short
@@Ryl0o the band have said they felt rushed making Sonder
@@ThomasTallant yea i remember either reading that in a article or in a interview that dan did
This album was so so good, some of the best vocal parts in all of prog
The entirety of War of Being is a masterpiece. Every song is incredible. Polaris and Altered State are also 2 of the best albums.

goosebumps!! that tesseract speciality!! give you the chills!!
Greetings from Argentina. Metal track of the year, Tesseract is MAGIC
Tesseract is a band that is def a prog Metal band , they had a lot of cool songs that is not just one genre or sub genre of Metal. what a great band
Dan's voice is phenomenal. I remember listening to Tesseract One and being like oh my f..kin God who's this guy! Killing it ever since. Haven't seen you reacting to October Ends in a while now. Can you please react to DARK or Damaged?
Prog metal baby. Nothing beats it.
Saw them live in Gävle, Sweden back in 2019 together with Jinjer, Freak Kitchen and Animals as Leaders. Fantastic show!
Tesseract are one of the coolest bands around at the moment
So many people are into them😎
Check out ‘The Grey’
Im watching this again absolutely beautiful Daniel you are such a amazing vocalist it blows me away

The second album's title is "Altered State". "Of Mind" is a track on that album. (Two tracks, actually, "Of Mind - Nocturne" and "Of Mind - Exile". :)

Daniel Tompkins is awesome. You should check out his work with Haji’s Kitchen.
More Tesseract please 😁
Sleep Token and Tesseract have put out the best albums of 2023!!
The Emotions this song invoke are crazy. This one is special.
Especially the ending sections.
Burden did it for me. At the end, where they have him alternate between screams and singing “I will
be heard” and “Will I be heard?”
