I had years to listen to such a great game's OST, listening to it is as fun and pleasing is the game. A rollercoaster of emotions, almost a masterpiece for me!
I'm normally a metal/rock guy, but I'm also a huge gamer, who has 100% completed this game, and god this soundtrack almost brings me to tears. It's just incredible.
Ah you know mate - its best to just enjoy anything with talent. We could easily turn these into metal covers and stuff and they'd work perfectly. If you like this soundtrack you'd obviously love NeiR automata if you haven't ventured that way yet.
I am normally not a music guy at all let alone pop or whatever this is. But this soundtrack is great. Very feminine and beautiful which matches the main character, Eve. I spent a lot of time in the beginning area listening to Eidos 7 silent street song 😂

This is the ONLY game I broke my resistance for and bought at full price in the last 10 years. I think I had it preordered, too. The demo really sold me on this game. Unfortunately, I rarely play the games I have already Platinumed again, as there is nothing more to expect. This one and Days Gone are some of the very few games I break this rule for, as well.
This game was my game of the year and the soundtrack and the story was fantastic It definitely deserved to win best soundtrack in my opinion It is the best soundtrack I have heard in a video game in a very long time
star descent plays during the intro cutscene of the game, which is effectively D day, with hot android girls playing the part of the allied forces, and the alien monsters who control earth, playing the part of the nazis. basically 4 ships with hundreds of drop pods, descend from a space station into the upper atmosphere, they all take fire from anti air batteries, they launch all their pods and we then follow one pod as it descends, with tons of other pods around it exploding in the air after being hit by anti air fire. when the pod lands we then follow the main character and her older sister/mentor as they storm a literal beach together. the song is meant to show the player that this whole operation is a last ditched effort to gain a foothold back on earth, but the operation ends in tragedy... the "star" in the name of the song is Eve, the main character

Not everything, but I get the sentiment. It is the first game in this genre that I enjoyed as much as to play the demo for 34 hours and max-out my character before release. I could do with better voices and less predictable story! I mean, come on! We knew the whole plot as soon as we saw the severed shoulder of Tacky... She has an artery, a bone and another tube, which revealed to us that we are droids and not actually humans. Combine this knowledge with the enemies being called Naytibas (natives) and we knew even from the demo.
@georgkeller I only had a problem with the robot in the "Japanese Garden" stage and the previously-sent droid (that black-haired girl). Both of them felt cheap with how they could absorb damage and do massive combos against you that weren't even telegrapged correctly so you can avoid them. Other than these two (which STILL were fun to play), there was no problem at all.
Star Descent is my favourite one by far !! And when this music plays in the game, it's at the very beginning and you're fighting against multiple enemies at once. I think it fits the music very very well because everyone is dying around us, explosions everywhere and enemies keep coming. Better than if it was against a boss in my opinion. If you plan on listening to more in the futur, I absolutely recommend listening to the Democrawler one by Pernelle, she's the original singer and made a cover (of herself) in her channel ! Absolutely enamored by this game and its soundtrack. A beautiful body of work. So many songs sent chills down my spine. I remember catching goosebumps when “Star Descent” plays during Eve’s introduction/entrance. That is one of the songs composed by two amazing members from MONACA, composers of NieR and etc. They’re named Oliver Good and Keita Inoue. I know Keiichi Okabe is extremely proud of their work done on this game. Spectacular!
One of the things I like about the OST is the variety of genres it uses. It is especially good hearing it while playing the game, where you expect one general direction, like with Star Descent, Ambush, or Silent Street, where you have something grandiose, something that emphasizes the futuristic element, or something leaning to the feminine side considering the character you play as. But then, the soundtrack pulls a curveball like Stalker, Skull Juggernaut, or Belial. You may even get something real chill, like Roxanne, especially the lively version, or Dawn, which sounded like an anime outro. Thanks to recent updates, we have bops like Take Me Away or Don't Forget Me, both so upbeat and sweet I am getting cavities. Biggest curveballs to me were Hypertube and Raven. Somehow, all of it just works. It's why it would've been nice 8f it had won best soundtrack, since it was THAT good.
This was my favorite game of 2024, and the soundtrack is probably the only OST I've really listened to outside of a game, with a track or two from other games being the exceptions. The Nier games both won OST category the years they came out, but SB probably got a bit overlooked because a nostalgic game OST like FF7R was around. Rebirth is pretty good, but I really struggle to see how it was close to this, other than being a safe pick and a legendary series. Just the way it goes.
That breakdown in Star Decent is one of my favorite breakdowns, and then they hit us with the soft vocals! I just love it. I also would die happy if J'nique Nicole and/or Emi Evans did a cover to really add to that Nier Automata feel.

Imagine, this game didn't win best music score of the year. I hate the western biased and corrupt media and show industry. In fact it wasn't recognised for anything, not even nominated for goty, because it didn't check the DEI boxes of the same activists journalists that are running this parody of a show. Never seen an excellent game getting robbed so hard, but at least it punched the right people in the face. It has the highest metacritic score, it wouldn't be possible if it offered only the eye candy. It is pure excellence in almost everything, gameplay, art design, music, aesthetics, story, world and lore building and the whole post apocalyptic atmosphere. Player recognition is all what matters in the end. PC release will be massive this year and futher show how people love it. Hope the sales will be even higher then console, and I heard a lot of people asking it for PC, so that a sequel becomes very likely, which already kinda is, since it was successful despite being limited oon only one platform. PS: please cover more soundtrack of it, we have to show more people what a masterpiece the ost is.

Elden ring dlc didn't get a single award either despite being nominated for almost all of the categories, it was clear the DLC was propagated to fill the spot for stellar blade, such a dirty move, the only reason why stellar blade was even nominated for the best music is because you just can't ignore the OSTs of this game, otherwise it would've been too obvious to see through their rigged award show that is, it was my first time watching the award show live and I'll never watch it again, wasted 4 hours. I already knew they're gonna pull some non-sense when I saw the nominations of all the categories and stellar blade was almost non existent in them.

Dragons dogma and tekken are the only other games i want you to hear, there's a lot of good stuff but i'm only thinking about a few to suggest from each. Also i need to hook you by starting with the best then ranking the rest. I know you've definitely listened to more music than me but maybe there's some sound there that could broaden your horizons and for you to incorporate yourself. They're a lot more adrenaline and energetic than souls games, ff and other franchises that are usually recommended.
I got rather far in Stellar Blade, and while the compositions are very well done, I feel like it isn't Okabe's most haunting work. Their work on Nier Automata is iconic and unique and a lot of the portions of Stellar Blade's OST by Okabe feels like more of an homage to Nier Automata's soundtrack thank it's own thing. Stellar blade's tracks feel much more produced, while Nier's are a lot more raw which at least for me is a big selling point. I think that goes for most of Stellar Blade for me. It wants to be Nier Automata, but it lacks it's uncompromising soulful art direction. It's funny though, I somewhat prefer Stellar Blade's gameplay, but not the world I'm playing in.
@@ArgyleR04D When I checked the credits, I saw a bunch of different artist names but I don't think Okabe was in there? He did lead Monaca studio which helped write a good majority of the tracks, but I don't think he himself composed for this. It definitely shows because while the Stellar Blade tracks are reminiscent of NieR, they are lacking something, I agree. I still really love the compositions though!
As a heavy enjoyer of both soundtracks, I disagree that SB wants to have NieR's OST. The two may have similar artist foundations, but the two are very different. Put SB music in NieR's game, and it won't fit. Put NieR's music in the world of SB, and it doesn't fit. SB has a far more electronic and metal-based feel for its futuristic atmosphere, while with NieR, you may not be able to guess the state of the world if you only listened to the OST, since it is primarily orchestral. With this, you could say that NieR's soundtrack is more pure, per se. While Stellar Blade's is more altered with lots of different effects going on, which makes a lot of sense for the altered state of the world we see in SB.
I think you are halucinating, have played too few games, or you are a very young child. This game is first and foremost a love letter to metal gear rising, believe or not nier automata didn't invent action games with robots. What track is Raven ripping off from nier automata? Come now, answer me that.

It definitely shows because while the Stellar Blade tracks are reminiscent of NieR, they are lacking something, I agree. I still really love the compositions though!
@TeraCMusic good point!, I had just assumed since they lead that studio it would have been their work, but that could explain it for sure.
As a heavy enjoyer of both soundtracks, I disagree that SB wants to have NieR's OST.
The two may have similar artist foundations, but the two are very different. Put SB music in NieR's game, and it won't fit. Put NieR's music in the world of SB, and it doesn't fit. SB has a far more electronic and metal-based feel for its futuristic atmosphere, while with NieR, you may not be able to guess the state of the world if you only listened to the OST, since it is primarily orchestral.
With this, you could say that NieR's soundtrack is more pure, per se. While Stellar Blade's is more altered with lots of different effects going on, which makes a lot of sense for the altered state of the world we see in SB.
I think you are halucinating, have played too few games, or you are a very young child. This game is first and foremost a love letter to metal gear rising, believe or not nier automata didn't invent action games with robots. What track is Raven ripping off from nier automata? Come now, answer me that.
