    Marriage is a blessing for us, and we were intentional about going to pre marital counseling and going through FPU beforehand! We cannot tell you how much those both immensely helped us! Thank you for who you are and all you do, Dave! You have inspired us to make a channel with videos on finances too! God Bless!

    Prenups don't work, 50% of people get divorced, and women initiate between 70% and 90% of divorces.
    Great tips from Dave. Physical intimacy can cause people to ignore the important questions before marriage.
    However, if you have money, you need to consider establishing a trust.

      The 50% rate takes into account all marriages. That’s an important distinction because it accounts for “repeat offenders” so to speak. That skews the numbers pretty significantly. For example imagine there were 100 marriages in one year. Obviously 200 people. If one person marries and divorces 3 times in that year. Yes it’s 3% of marriages failed, but only 4 people got divorced in this scenario making it 2% of people got divorced. Obviously this is a cherry picked example but it goes to show how the numbers can be skewed by counting repeat offenders. If you extrapolate that kind of scenario while following the Pareto Distribution you can see that 80% of marriages are ended by a small sub-sect (20%) of the population. Suffice to say statistics while presumably true, do not paint a realistic picture.

      It's sad people think marriage counseling is for when they're in trouble. A little counseling beforehand is so helpful. And agreeing on values is the key to a successful marriage.

    Why are people so against marriage in the comments? 😑 If you truly love someone and you want to spend the rest of your life with them, why are you worried about money, divorce and losing assets? Just love the person and try to live happily. Geesh. People focus of the wrong things, if it's that serious get a prenup.

      Lord have mercy. Based on your comments, I'm guessing you are female? I am not attempting to attack you, but listen carefully: It's really convenient for a female in today's society to be dismissive of the system that is designed to place men at a severe disadvantage if the marriage fails. Your mentality reminds of the old school southern 85 year old bigot that dismisses claims of racism. Tell you what, they should place a law on the books that states: ' No alimony. No child support unless you were married for 5 years'. If you do divorce, you'll leave with what you brought...unless you ACTUALLY contributed to building the business. I bet if those laws were in place, women would tread more carefully, not be as irrational, and take the institution of marriage more seriously.

    • @ALXSSA
      @ALXSSA 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      philly 1971 clearly by my name im a female. Second, like i stated, why get married if you are already PLANNING divorce? All of what you wrote proved nothing. People should marry for love and not even worry about losing money. Your supposed to be married forever. How about pick the right time to get married with the right person and we won't have to have this discussion. You're dismissed.

  • @icedoutelite

    3rd thing Dave mentioned about in laws, are so true, few of my friends filed for divorce because of it. So better be prepared because you’re not marrying them, you most likely marry their extended family too depending how close he and she is to them.

      50% of marriages end in divorce, 70% of them initiated by women. They get most of everything following the divorce, including the kids. Women get sole custody of the kids around 80% of the time, and the father loses almost all his rights to those children, except for the financial connection. Yet you blame men for refusing to play this rigged game?

    If you are a man with no money or ambitions marriage is for you..but if you have goals and ambitions, don't do it. You will be ruined. I've heard so many stories of guys losing everything in a divorce. One guy I know of lost his house, kids, and all of his money, and afterwards his ex wife had another guy living in the same house she took from him..pfft no thank you.

    First thing to do is go get snipped without her, and pretend like you’re unsure why you can’t have kids. Then when you walk in on her getting a BBC when you’re supposed to be at work and you get divorced (i wouldn’t divorce her but you may not be into sharing her) you won’t have to pay thousands in child support.
