I've learned in Callbacks / Zoom Calls (nowadays), one of my most important things (or at least from the few experiences I've had) I've realized is to be the part, not only in the reading but in all communication. As simple as that sounds, some callbacks I've done, where I've auditioned for a younger role, I've spoken as my normal self, which they find mature, and find that I'm suddenly "too old" for the part. Once I began speaking younger (as the roles I audition for are usually younger than I actually am), I've found a better percentage of bookings from the initial zoom meeting / call back.
I hope you know how much of an inspiration you are to us Kurt. Thank you for all the useful info and tips, its means a lot. Love from the Caribbean 🇹🇹🙏🏽

I know it can be frustrating but the fact that you keep making it to the final stage means you are doing something right. At the end of the day, they can only cast one person even if thousands of people submitted for the role. The casting process is very unpredictable. Hi Kurt! Thank you for the awesome video. I was wondering if you get multiple callbacks from a big production or role, would it be okay to mention it in a pitch email to an agent or manager? Or should I just mention the projects I booked. Please let me know. Thank you so much 😊
Hi, Kurt I want to say what a inspiration you are for actors everywhere, I am across your Chanel and I am hooked and I’ll watch over and over and take notes, If you haven’t answer this, do actors still have to print out headshots for a portfolio when you meet a agent or manager? And second things have changed since two years ago, could you possibly do a updated video about moving to Atlanta or Another big production city for actors or is Atlanta still the best
Kurt, first if I may say how enjoyable and informative your videos are, Thank You! I do have a question in ref to talent agencies receiving role breakdowns, do casting agencies/directors normally work with specific talent agents/agencies? If so, a talent is limited to only being submitted for the roles in which their agents works w/ specific casting directors/agencies, correct? Thank You!
Yes, that is often how it works. And it is usually regional. So Atlanta area casting directors typically work with Atlanta area talent agents (and maybe some of the neighboring states).
Have you done videos on Taxes in Acting? Might be an unusual request but I would think that it’s very important to have some knowledge on what to be prepared for
Hello Kurt, Can you do a video about what a working actor is? Because you said it a lot in your videos and I just want you to go to details on what it means. Does it mean making a living off acting, booking a lot of roles paid and unpaid, Does that means you're always busy when it comes to acting not having off time
Good suggestion! I will add it to my list. For now, I will say that I define a working actor as anyone who is getting paid to act. That could mean a million dollars or it could mean a hundred dollars. Making a living from acting income alone is very very difficult and not always sustainable due to the unpredictability of the industry. An actor could do everything right and still have a bad year financially. That's the vast majority of actors have a second (or third or fourth) source of income to balance out the irregularity of acting work.
Was waiting for a video from Mr Yue. Btw, have a question. Am not American but I study from and stay in America. Can I audition to act in any American movies as posted by backstage? And, is it also safe or necessary for me to get an American Agent?
I think a lot of that depends on your location. You can submit for anything you want but need to take a few things into consideration. For example do you fit the role? If they're looking for a 20 something African American female - well that's kind of obvious it's not something you'd want to submit for. Also if you live in Dallas Texas but the audition is in Los Angeles or New York they're not going to fly you out to the audition or for the role in most cases. If they're looking for someone with a specific accent and you don't have don't have that accent & can't do accents then it's probably best to not waste your own time or the casting directors time. You should also be submitting on Casting Networks, Actors Access and Casting Frontier. Those are the main ones that a talent agent will want you to already be signed up with before they will represent you AND there certain roles you're not going to even see because they only get sent to agents. Agents get different breakdowns than actors do and when you get an agent they will be submitting you to some of those that you otherwise wouldn't have access to. Before you sign up on any casting site though make sure that it covers productions happening in your area. I'm not sure which ones cover which areas but the three I mentioned above all cover the Los Angeles area. Another thing about accents, if you CAN do different accents it will increase your odds of getting work. For example if you're German and have a German accent the roles you can submit for will be very limited but if you can pull off a believable American accent you'll get a LOT more work. I know a girl from Germany (she's in my acting class) and it took me six days to figure out that she was even German because she NEVER speaks with her natural accent and she does such a great American accent that she had me fooled. I'd have never known if she didn't tell me, except that when she get angry her natural accent comes out.
@@liquidbraino Thanks bruv! I am African. Originally, from Uganda, East Africa. And I am a 19 year old man. I do the American accent so well and I do my African accent as well. Depending on whom am talking to. The African accent, I use it mostly with my African friends. I always use the American accent, With ma parents and literally, everyone. Am trying to learn the British accent which is the most difficult, I guess. 😁 I stay in Michigan but can move to Las Vegas at my brother's. Is that helpful? And thanks about the guidance up there. 👊
Also depends on your residency status. If you're not a US citizen or green card holder, you'll need a specific work visa that will allow you to work as an actor in the US. I'm not an immigration attorney so you'll have to seek one out if you need to know the details about that.
Thanks for videos, Kurt!! One question: why would a casting agency said "No acting experience required" for a lead role of an HBO serie? Does that mean the producers will train the candidate, if they see him/her to be the right person for the role?
Can you give some examples of what kind of direction they would give you at a callback? Would it be like to try your material again but with a different emotion or something?
Hi Kurt! I LOVE your channel-- your videos have already made a big on my life + acting journey, so THANK YOU!! I'm looking into acting classes in Atlanta and was curious if you have any thoughts about Robert Mello's Meisner-based intensive? Thanks for your help!
I've never taken his classes but I do know Rob personally and he's a great guy who cares deeply about the craft and his students. I know many actors that have studied with him and love his classes.
I’m going to an open casting call this Saturday in person. I’ve never done one. They haven’t sent me any sides yet. Should I be expecting them to send me sides this week? Or should I find/prepare a small monologue for the audition? Up until now I’ve done some BG work, but I’m putting in the time with classes etc to start booking real gigs. I couldn’t find any videos about having a monologue prepared or even about open casting calls. There is a few sentence description about the characters though. Help! Tips! (Other than the audition cheat cheat which is already downloaded 😂)!
How do you give more feeling when reading a monologue. I just read it of the paper and it sound like exactly what I’m doing. Have any advice to stop being afraid to act or read it out in front of peoples. Myesha luv’s here Love your videos hope to be an good actress one day💗
Hi Kurt thanks for the great video !! I need advice on a self tape where the script sent requires me to kneel on the ground , how does one film that using the instructions of self taping?( landscape, eye line etc) as usually one is standing during a self tape
Hey Kurt, about a week ago I told my mom that I wanted to get into the acting business, I am 15 btw, I told her about you and your story and how you moved to Atlanta in 2016(i believe) I also told her how you were on a super bowl commercial, and she told me " No, think more realistically, only 1 in ten thousand make it in the acting business." Do you have any advice on what i should do since she is not going to help me out with this crazy dream? Another thing i also want to add is that i am home schooled and there is no theater in this homeschool group and my mom is not going to help me get into any theater groups, she keeps putting it off.
Try to find community theater and attempt learning on your own until you can get some acting classes me personally i don’t think it’s mandatory for acting classes but you do learn alot.
Any little thing you can do whether it’s performing in a church ur in or anything you should take the chance! And also just record yourself see what you did wrong and ask others and just keep improving and learning!
Hey Kurt I am a huge fan of your videos on TH-cam I recently discovered you a couple months ago during the pandemic and I wanted to reach out and ask you a question that you haven’t really touched up on some of your TH-cam videos I am currently 18 years old and I am considering to pursue acting as a career, I have no experience and was thinking of going to acting classes as you advised first but I have heard a lot of people give me advice to move to LA and start booking parts in the teenage roles and build a portfolio because I can look the part but I am not actually under the age of 18. Should I go to acting classes first or pursue those roles that are “easier” to get because I look younger . thank you so much for taking the time to read my message and I hope you’re doing well !
I always recommend starting with acting classes. Even if you do decide to move to LA, you should take classes there as well. There is no guarantee that you will start booking just because you moved to LA.
What set up do you use when you're doing a virtual call back? Do you have a stand for your laptop? A wireless webcam to treat like you would the camera in a self tape?
I have a wired webcam that can attach to my tripod. If your laptop webcam is attached to the screen, you can just stack it on a box on a table or something to get it to about face level. I use the logitech c920 amzn.to/3INujmX
hey Kurt! I have a question for you that if someone lives in Pakistan as an example and he/she are under 18 than how can we do auditions for movies and tv shows? And if possible please make a separate video for that. Lots of love from Pakistan 🇵🇰 ❣️
Hi Kurt! Thanks for this great information. Can you tell me why I stutter or get tongue twisted when saying lines, but I speak totally fine in real life? Can I overcome this?
I'm not sure. You may want to talk to someone who specializes in speech. I'm actually the opposite. I am usually pretty good with memorized lines but I tend to stutter in real life.
Hi Kurt! My question about the call back is, when you have the zoom call and they tell you what you need to fix, do you do it right on the call or do you redo the self-tape?
Is your self tape set up the same as your zoom call back set up? I use my iPhone to tape my self tapes using the normal camera. But for call backs I turn my phone around and use the selfie mode so I can see the zoom participants. Is there another way I should be doing this?
I use my Canon DSLR camera for my self tapes. For Zoom callbacks I usually just use my laptop webcam because it's easier. But I still set it up in my self tape room with the same lighting. I think what you're doing is fine because the iPhone cameras are pretty good.
Hey Kurt I have a question. How can I audition for a project if I don’t have a demo reel yet when I’m starting out? When all the projects requires a demo reel, what can I do?
Hi Kurt! So I’m an aspiring non-established actor from Denmark who wants to pursue acting in USA, California. I’m planning to go there for a minimum of six months. The problem is that I would like to be able to have a job whilst going to auditions and castings when I’m there. So my question is, what type of visa should I apply for?
Hello there... Please I don't have a correct or say exact answer on the question that I've asked below, it will be of great help if u can provide it. Is there any surplus (extra) money given to actor and actress for explicit seen in movie or dramas, web series besides the fee they received as they are booked?

(Other than the audition cheat cheat which is already downloaded 😂)!
How do you give more feeling when reading a monologue. I just read it of the paper and it sound like exactly what I’m doing. Have any advice to stop being afraid to act or read it out in front of peoples.
Myesha luv’s here
Love your videos hope to be an good actress one day💗
How many times would it takes in Callbacks? Should I still bring my resume and headshot? It’s just a project for awards
How to get into a character which you are not in real life?
Hi Kurt thanks for the great video !! I need advice on a self tape where the script sent requires me to kneel on the ground , how does one film that using the instructions of self taping?( landscape, eye line etc) as usually one is standing during a self tape
Hi
How would I get an audition for commercials like how do I find opportunities in my area
Every area is different so I would recommend looking for an acting school in your area because they would probably know
Hey Kurt, about a week ago I told my mom that I wanted to get into the acting business, I am 15 btw, I told her about you and your story and how you moved to Atlanta in 2016(i believe) I also told her how you were on a super bowl commercial, and she told me " No, think more realistically, only 1 in ten thousand make it in the acting business." Do you have any advice on what i should do since she is not going to help me out with this crazy dream? Another thing i also want to add is that i am home schooled and there is no theater in this homeschool group and my mom is not going to help me get into any theater groups, she keeps putting it off.
Omg same exact thing happened to me to
@@Emir_helvacioglu you and me both...
@@omarramirez-um2ut Thanks for the advice!
I like your videos
@@ActingCareerCenter Thank you so much for taking the time to reply !
Do you know if ATL is a good opportunity for latin actors?
I hate living in Glasgow
Why?
Hi, can i ask you a question. During the choosing of the final actor for the role do they make you sign a contract already?
Was watching Mr Mercedes this week and about spit out my food. Were you still in Ohio or did that shoot in Atlanta?
Haha, cool! That was after I moved to Atlanta. Pretty much 95% of my resume is after moving to Atlanta
Hi Kurt! My question about the call back is, when you have the zoom call and they tell you what you need to fix, do you do it right on the call or do you redo the self-tape?
You would make the adjustment on the spot on the Zoom call
I want to become Hollywood Actor
When all the projects requires a demo reel, what can I do?
create your own demo reel: th-cam.com/video/udZAvA1F79U/w-d-xo.html
Hello Sir, Can Indian actors get roll in US movie, TV shows or in web series? And How? #LovefromIndia ❤️🇮🇳
Hi Kurt!
So I’m an aspiring non-established actor from Denmark who wants to pursue acting in USA, California. I’m planning to go there for a minimum of six months. The problem is that I would like to be able to have a job whilst going to auditions and castings when I’m there. So my question is, what type of visa should I apply for?
Unfortunately, I don't know. You'd have to talk to an immigration attorney about that
I'm 20, can i audituon for k_drama??
Do I need an O1visa if I have to become an actor in Canada
I'm not sure you'll have to ask an immigration attorney about that
😊
Cobra Kai season 5
Hello there...
Please I don't have a correct or say exact answer on the question that I've asked below, it will be of great help if u can provide it.
Is there any surplus (extra) money given to actor and actress for explicit seen in movie or dramas, web series besides the fee they received as they are booked?
If the movie is under a SAG-AFTRA (union) contract in the US, yes, there may be a pay bump for that.
i live in a town where there is no acting school , agencies can i still get an agent?
Almost all acting schools have online classes now. You can absolutely attend classes no matter where you live.
@@ActingCareerCenter thanks 🤩
