Guess WHAT!!??? I just got cast in my very first professional theater show!!!!!! The show is Shrek the Musical and I am SO HAPPY! I'm a blind mouse and one of the tap dancing rats! I've been taking dance forever and tap is my favorite!!! IM SO READY FOR THIS!! YAY!
Okay, hi. You won't believe what happened. Last friday i find out there's an audition saturday morning, and I'm like "shit", right? so i ask and they tell me i just have to know a one minute monologue and that's it, i can go, saturday eight a m. So at first I'm doubtful because a bunch of my classmates are going, but then I'm like "No. Fuck it. I want to do this" so i go, and there's a friend that's going and she's amazing so I'm a little intimidated and stuff. But then i get there and it is completely different from what i expected, because yeah, we had to use our monologue and stuff, but we also had to like dance and everything. My legs are still sore. and at the time i went, there were only three of us: me, my friend, and other girl that was extremely good. So it's over, everyone was super nice, and my anxiety went away. But i wasn't really expecting a lot, because everyone was just so good, and at least i tried and just overcoming my fear was a big achievement and everything. And then is monday. It's lunchtime and I'm brushing my teeth and then they call me. I didn't know it was them at first so i answer expecting a call from a bank or something. But they tell me they loved me, they tell me I'm in. so now I'm in a theatre company and I'm really happy!
Every. Single, audition. Or. Callback. I. Go. To... I say thank you after I sing because I was taught to do that. People don't do it and they really stick out in my mind and almost always they don't get the part honestly...

But my friend was there and I found out that some other people didn't read it too so that was comforting. It was a group audition so there was no auditioning for a specific part. And callbacks are next Tuesday afternoon. I just hope I get in.

If you get the callback cuts of music ahead of time, should you be off book or is it ok to hold the sheet music in hand during your callback? Sometimes casting doesn't mind if you hold sides, but what about sheet music?

But today I got a callback for Mal and Evie in descendants and i am absolutely terrified😭😭 I dont sing and I literally voice cracked during my audition😭😭 Im really nervous. When you said to thank and say goodbye to the panel- do you mean to literally go up to them before you leave or after you have finished performing and you walk away?
+Ford Beshirs literally go up to them before you leave (ie. after the dance call). If it's a one on one audition (ie. singing or reading), you can just thank them as you leave the room 😊
