"Wrong people are buying the wrong cars, for probably the wrong money." This is what I have been saying for SO long. The market is now catering to this specific buyer. Spot on!
Totally agree re the 16V golf and 205 as I was lucky enough to have both while mates had 8V golf and 1.9 205's. The golf needed PAS.... I also had a 16V corrado which was the best handling front wheel drive car I ever drove. Again the VR6 version was quicker in a straight line but nose heavy. G60 was the pick of the bunch in my opinion - ideally in bright yellow! My mate got a ticket in one on the A3 doing well over the ton...
What you really wanted was an mi16 conversion. Much better performance than a 1.9 but lighter weight than a 1.6. Along with the engine also wider front track from iirc the 309 gti and some upgraded brakes Enjoy.
Haha... I’m currently the bag lady with a foot-pump on my off-side rear 😆 Fancy double-chambered pump mind you... and with a built-in gauge 😆 Not a Ferrari though so perhaps more in keeping with an old Discovery 3 V8 🤷♂️🤦♂️
