The first ever podcast I’ve listened to and I loved it. So interesting listening to how the GT cars came about and the details on some of the models. Andreas’ career story was good too. I was lucky to have a Gen 2 997 GT3 back in 2017 for a couple of years and still think that was the ideal size and footprint for a 911
I would LOVE it if you did video for your podcasts. There's something about being able to see peoples faces as they talk helps with understanding their passion.
What an excellent podcast, just superb. They were talking about the impression on a young person by being given a run in a car that you never forget. Mine was in a Ferrari 500 Superfast (chassis 6661) when I was 12 years old.
4am. Just listened to the whole podcast after waking up from the kids bed. What a treat the way the whole porsche heritage (kussmaul et al) and passion was mentioned in the video for all the porsche nerds out there. My first drive ever, 25 years ago, was in my dads 911 sc, which is now mine, and hoping to pass it on. I created the first porsche fans website in my country in the mid/late 90s, and always keen on whats happening in estoril porsche related. Thank you andreas for keeping the spark.
Listened on my iTunes Player, had to come here and say Thank You! That was an awesome 90 mins, amazing anecdotes and behind the curtain details. Harris is wheelman and an interviewer, next he will be a Top Gear Presenter!
A second hand (7th owner) 0-series 996.2 GT3 was my first GT Porsche. I guess Andreas has driven the very car since it was one of the prototypes of the MK2 GT3 series. Now I’ve put in my first new Porsche car order, a GT4RS. Not only that, I’ve been so lucky as to get a PTS allocation🤩
Congrats on the GT4RS! What color did you choose? I just picked up my second Porsche, Cayman GTS 4.0 in Shark Blue, and sold my first one, Cayman 987S with 130,000 miles.
I’m sure I saw Andreas in Scotland a few years ago , I happened to drive by the Porsche factory tour near the Isle of Skye . There was a gt3 rs pulled in at the side of the road German plates on it and I’m sure it was Andreas standing next to it . I was waving like a madman when I drove past , he probably wondered why a mad Scotsman was waving at him 😂
Man I felt like a little girl with a big smile on my face ear to ear listening to this podcast🤣🤣🤣as a man that says a lot this is what makes my love for the gt3 brand over the top cause you know what emotion and everything that going into the car, chris haris thank you so much an Andreas man thank you so very much for shaping this car brand into something so special and wonderful👏🏾💯I’m listening to this from🇱🇨st Lucia I could never get tired of hearing you two speak😁😁we have never had a gt car in my country and I want to be the first person to be able to bring one here all because of you two guys thank you so much👏🏾👏🏾
we need ep.2 with AP, especially talking about secret cars like the 969 prototype, cancelled 9R3 (LMP2000), 919 street, history of 918 spyder and many more!
The story of driving the 997.2 3RS to Le Mans, racing, and driving it back is one of the best modern Porsche stories rarely told. It's a shame they didn't shake the PR tree more for that endeavor. Interestingly, AP added a new piece of info I've not heard about that story. It was known the car had different brake pads and tires in order to race, but he now says it also had bespoke springs too! Still, it doesn't detract from the mega accomplishment that can never be replicated due to rule changes. Such an awesome story. Thanks for sharing, @chrisharris!
I also loved my Integrale😍driving it in la Tour de Peilz at the Art Center College of Design in switzerland, where a lot of Car guys studied Transportation (I did Communication). In fact it was the start of my Car enthusiasmus. And also my love for Alcantara. Greetings from Upper Austria.
I had a 911 on my wall as a kid in the late 70’s I remember looking through the classifieds thinking one day 🤔…in 2020 I bought a new 992 Carrera S in Crayon with black wheels..absolutely love it, driving dynamics are fantastic but you almost have to learn to drive again compared to a mid engined sports car..
Great episode, thank you so much! I'm one hour in hoping you'll also tap into the uncomfortable stuff... Like 991.1 GT3 failing engines. It's not only flowers and rainbows... Let's see... EDIT: here we are!
He still didn't seem to want to talk about it at all except in vague allusions to a problem while only directly mentioning the couple that caught on fire at the very beginning. Not the fact that almost every 991 had to get its engine replaced at some point, some multiple times, and the 10 year engine warranty will run out relatively soon... it's not "forever". Hard to see how collectible they will be for that reason. Also, it seems like there is no such thing as a GT4 or GT4 RS lol
@@JCviggen1 exactly, it's just 991s... The 10-year warranty on 991.1 GT3 3.8s is about to expire, let's see how many will get on board that ticking bomb! On the market 991.1 GT3s are currently sitting at 25% less than the 991.2, and for good reason. If you have 110-120k euros for a toy, you can stretch to 150-160 and have peace of mind IMHO.
@@JCviggen1 moreover... if a serious issue like that one doesn't come up during development and testing, maybe there's something wrong with how development and testing are carried out...
Andreas’ description of the car he’d like to build sounds quite like a Lotus Exige Sport 410 or Cup 430. It would be very interesting to see Porsche’s interpretation.
Truly staggering to hear that, despite the fact that there was massive demand from the fans and the customer base for a manual gearbox 991.1 gt3, the board didn't "get it" when they first saw the 911R! Who the hell are these people?
To be fair Preuninger said the 991.1 GT3 was such a huge project with the rear wheel steer, electronic steering, new engine they simply could not do 2 gearboxes.
I hope Andreas sees this. Since GT4rs is announced is it possible to roll out GT4 and 718 sypder short final drive program? Market it like a "pit stop" for dealership to upgrade for owners who think the long gear is out of sync with the chassis and power. If the whole package can be done within 7k euro every parties will be happy
My 4 year old recognises Porsches, I've given him my 1980s Bburago 1:43 models of the 911, 959 and 935 - he can spot them on the road straight away, shame most of the ones he sees are Taycans...
Why doesn't the touring models have back seats? If it is a mature option with no flashy wings, and probably no cage in back, please make it practical as well, have the option to put it back in seats back there please.
I could listen to Andreas and Chris talk about Porsches all day.
An hour and a half of Preuninger and Chris Harris? What a treat...
The fact that this conversation is free to listen to is insane, this is GOLD!!
These are the best thing Chris Harris makes at the moment.
Been a while since Chris had a guest for the podcast - Andreas Preuninger is worth the wait....!

I'm gonna be late for dinner, this will be good!
@Benoit Couver I think it's rather the other way around pal.
Preuninger when asked to visit Weissach: “I’m coming, I’m coming!”
So would I Andreas, so would I…
Dear Chris.. please do at least one of these per month.. I absolutely love them! Thnx for this!! Grtz from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
I've listened this talk in podcast form over 20 times ... He's a legend already.
That was really special, lucky enough to have and a few 911’s and my current 991.2 gt3is so special and a keeper.
What an excellent podcast, just superb.

I was taken to the vintage races at Lime Rock Park when I was 12 or 13 by a neighbor in his 911 and it changed the course of my life.

A Porsche version of the Alpine A110 would be a lovely thing.
They already made the Cayman 718 and people complained about it
@@dln.sweeney yeah true but the Cayman is over 300kg heavier than the 1100kg Alpine.

Great stories of inspiration,And passion on collecting cars. Love it
Can’t think of two better guys I want to hear talk about Porsches.
Paul Frère and Hans Mezger ?

AWESOME! I will always be a Porche GT car customer!
I hope Andreas makes that NA high revving 1100kg GT car in the next 5 years.
I hope the pigs flying around outside your window don't distract from your fantasy.
Closest we’re going to get to his ideal car will be the GT4RS. The dealer markup now is shameful, though
well not 1100kg but the ST comes close. Very close in dry weight.
The bulletproof statement of 4.0 engine makes me happy 👍

Can we get a tour of the RS Vault? Pleasee
