My personal headcanon for black lightsabers is that, given the only one we see is of Mandalorian design and considering the utmost importance of clan, family, and honor above all else to the Mandalorian people, black is very much representative of a zealous will to defend with all of one's heart those who he cares for. More broadly, it is emblematic of a strong attachment and unbreakable bond, held for selfless, sacrificial reasons, that is antithetical to the common practices of both the Jedi and the Sith, hence why it is seen nowhere else. The Sith sought attachment only when it convenienced themselves, and the Jedi, especially nearing their fall, often avoided it not because it was bad, but because they feared what might happen when they lose that which they devote such feelings towards. Perhaps not the best way I could word it, but it's what I like to go with.

This actually makes sense if we Look at white khyber crystalls which are made by "healing" a crystalls that were used by inquisitors/siths it translates to purity a blank slate somone who does what is right somone untied by rules couse they weren't written yet. While black with white Hue can mean somone tied to code filled with rules, regulations and laws Just like first jedi Mandalorian tied himself to jedi order and its rules, before his blade became a law "one who has a lightsaber controls Mandalora".

One other color you forgot to mention, although I don't blame you since it's very close to Orange: Amber. Amber is the color of the Solari crystal, a one-of-a-kind crystal that was inherently tied to the light side of the force and resulted in a blade that would actually strengthen or weaken respective to the user's force alignment. Should a Jedi using this crystal fall to the Dark Side completely, the crystal would fail to produce a blade entirely.

      @SpiritGRF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@aedaniammx7559 yeah when it comes to Mace Windu's crystal its just rare and was given to him as a padiwan for helping a species made out of stone. The crystal itself is thought to contain both light and dark side energies which is why Jedis or sith typically don't use them. Mace is the exception though since he uses his own version of form 7 (mostly used by sith), but made it his own and called it Vapod. Mace was the only Jedi of that time able to handle the temptations of the dark side that came with it as seen in a comic when Mace was creating Vapod he had tried to teach a friend of his whom turned to the dark side and Mace had to kill him. The reason being why Yoda allowed Mace to embrace vapod is because Mace was the secret weapon against the Sith and for a peroid of time believed he might have been the choosen one until Anikan came around. Vapod wasn't that effective against Jedi, but It didn't matter because Mace was insanely talented with a lightsaber and held his own against the likes of Obi-wan, Yoda, and Count Dooku without it. However when against a Sith it would add that siths force strength on top of Mace's. He also has a rare force ability called Shatter Point which allows Mace to use the force to see weakpoints that can be exploited. We don't see it in the movies, but this is why the legendary bounty hunter Jango Fett was taken out so easily and also why Mace Windu was able to beat Palpatine where Yoda couldn't. This also explains why Anikan was able to catch Mace off guard to uhh...disarm him and solidify his role as the choosen one to bring Balance to the force. One key thing that goes under peoples radars is if Mace Windu was capable of beating Palpatine then whats the point of the choosen one? Its exactly what the description says and that is "to bring balance to the force" which at the beginning of Episode 1 the Jedi clearly are way more in control and are even involved with politics and war. We are just experiencing the story from the Jedi's perspective and they believe that balance means the eradication of the sith, but yet the Jedi themselves are ok with taking children from their homes at a young age from their parents without consent and rejecting traditional ideas of love and instead have them to embrace compassion for others...the Jedi's had become a cult.

I remember playing. Jedi Academy and at heart I had always had a fondness for Green so my light side play through was a counselor (green) in my dark side play through I did Yellow. Something about that made sense to me. A yellow blade dark side wielder then I saw the old Republic trailer I was happy to see it come into fruition in canon. The idea that a Jedi would balance guardian and Counselor just sounded like they wanted more power thus giving them a room to echo the dark side. This is why the council doesn’t have them them at the temple. (Black bag operation Jedi) they do the bad stuff they don’t want to know about. Espionage and murder.
I know it’s not accurate to lore this was just my thoughts at that time.

Hey, I have to say that while this is a very reasonable and likely meaning for their colors, I feel like a sabers color can be displayed from a personality; blue would stand for well-intentioned and protective, while red would stand for power-seeking/ill-intentive and hatred. Green would stand for wisdom and knowledge, while yellow would stand for balance and peace. Purple would stand for powerful and strong willed, while orange would stand for less force sensitive and weaker willed. White would stand for understanding and control, while the black/dark Saber would stand for a chaotic and unnatural side that is offset by the intentions of the wielder as only those with one true emotion could completely control it. Also, I feel like the reason this doesn't change the color of the blade is because the color stays as a certain color when they gain the crystal but will possibly change depending on how the user feels when they choose their next kyber crystal, but the shade of the blade may change depending on the emotions they feel and a blade may get lighter if a person is keeping on the path of their saber but may get darker as a person is feeling something different. Tell me how you feel about this and if you think they have another reason by personality.

    Poor Head cannon, probably:
It seems like the cannon and Legends method of making red lightsabers don't have to be mutually exclusive as the only way of obtaining a red crystal. A synthetic crystal would probably only be atomically akin to natural, pure kyber crystals but without any force energy infused into them, think a synthetic diamond or quartz. When made in a lab, synthetic gems/crystals have fewer inclusions (flaws or pieces of the original material that didn't crystalize) and are closer to pure and so, have to be given inclusions or radiation exposure that that crystaline structure would have obtained in nature to alter it's color. Meaning a sith would have to "bleed" it anyway.
Fun fact: Most notably the process with radiation is used for "pink" and "red" diamonds (UM... EXPENSIVE) and, to my knowledge, lab grown rose quartz.
Possibly, a force user would end up working longer, harder or constantly on it compared to a naturally red crystal. This part of my theory comes from the fact that lab grown pink quartz and lab grown red diamonds lose their color and fade faster and greater compared to natural rose quartz and red diamonds which are usually ok for a LONG time (decades apposed to centuries) as long as they are kept out of direct sun...aka "the light". (Red and pink DIAMOND is exceptionally rare in nature too, rose quartz not so much, it's just rare to find any with gem quality clarity and they are usually TINY. Quartz won't turn red on it's own {that I'm aware of I'm, a newb in the gem/crystal nerdum}, but quartz IS the main component in many precious red gems like garnet.....)
But with this theory: could a force user take a synthetic crystal and infuse it with light side/healing energy from the start and create a white blade to begin with also? (Idk WHAT the real world equivalent of THAT would be tho...it just sounds cool)
Thus ends my nerdum cross over episode!
    Just cool head cannon stuff...

People always want to associate the color of a lightsaber with the wielder's personality, and I get that. It's so evocative. But it feels like if that were the case, we would see characters go on arcs that change and their lightsaber color might change with them. And then that asks the question of "well how does the Force determine if someone's deserved a color change yet?". Then we get into fiddly DnD alignment arguments.
I think it's best to associate colors of sabers with status and title, and if you act unbefitting of the title it could be taken away or simply stop working. Then once you either accept your status or move on to something else, then maybe you'd have to go out and get a new saber to reflect your new life. It should be an undertaking to get a new saber color and it shouldn't happen just because "lol I'm angry so it turns red".

You should do a video on how a lightsaber works. My theory is that as the emission and absorption parts of the blade meet and collide with one another. This collision would end up creating the famous lightsaber glow. Furthermore, the alignment of each person within the force would augment the color of the person’s blade, due to the collision bringing out the full nature of the Kyler crystal. This, I think, would explain some of the more mysterious parts about lightsabers such as the dark saber. In stead of having its emitter within the circle of its absorber, it would have them side by side. This would cause them to be like two blades constantly rubbing up against each other, which would give it its signature appearance. This would explain the mechanics of one of the most feared weapons within the Star Wars universe.

Also, some of the material that they had kept as canon after the acquisition had referenced Legends material. Those references therefore had to be canon, but most of the details were lost.
Revan was one of those characters. It would make sense, then, why it would be used by the early Jedi, who might not know the locations of more natural crystals, and by the Sentinals who were more practical and skilled with technology. As for the Eternal Empire using them, I think that's probably because they either took some old Sentinal crystals or just synthesized them due to lack of access to natural ones.

Headcanon: Sith use passion in the force, and red crystals are produced when their hate and rage are poured into a kyber crystal. Pink, having a connection to the Sith implied by Mara Jade's training, also should be produced through passion.
Hate and rage are two sides of the same coins. On the other side of each, love and panic, respectfully.
If we narrow it down to the simplest terms, hate and love much like rage and panic produce similar patterns of action. Single-minded purpose in higher level decision-making is driven by the purest forms of both love and hate. Striking out with singular purpose is a pattern typical of both rage and panic.
A pink saber color would befit someone trained to be a dark side dueler, with an unusually strong light side affinity. And this fits Mara Jade's story arc in Legends quite well, considering the element of redemption story. Mara Jade makes choices based on her trained and practiced habitual compulsions, which eventually leads her to a new path.
And this kind of animal-minded duality accounts for why, once they're engaged, it is so difficult to deter Sith using reason. They're deliberately channeling typically irrational behaviors.
This would also support for Mara Jade a character quality lending toward devotion to family. She is at her strongest when channeling the very motivators that give rise to devotion, nurturing, affection, attachment, and protectiveness.
Also I just want this to be correct because it's cute and fits the color. 😆

One who exhibited all aspects of the force , light through dark and everything in between .

The dark saber uses a black core kyber crystal, which can be seen in use in the old republic.

I would probably have a purple saber, not just because of the color being my favorite, but being stuck in between the light and dark.

Could the colors of the dark saber show a split between two orders/two paths? In tarvislas case between the jedi order and the mandalorian way.

I think I would go with a strobe lightsaber. That's gotta be hella distracting to your opponent, and if he's epileptic you can win just by igniting your blade.

my understanding is that in legends, all kyber crystals are attuned to the light side by default, which is why they must be made to bleed for the sith, so i don't think pink has anything to do with the darkside

My favorite color in general is "deep" blue, but when it comes to lightsabers i'll rather choose eihter white or purple.
White/silver sabers represent grey jedis or the outcasted whom still serve the light, but they're able to use dark side abilites to a certain extent to achive their goal. They're the most human from all.
Purple ones are able to use Vaapad, so they're able to channel their dark side. They can control their anger to their own advantage and not giving themselves fully to the dark side. I like it, also becuz of khmm... Revan... Khmmm...
I also like the Orange and Amber color variations.
On the other hand red is the most useful one, cuz you can cut through other lightsabers with it... or you know just turn off your saber while someone swings at you, dodge it, then reactive it as Exar Kun. 🤣 (I know you've tried it in Jedi Academy I & II) 😅😁
Real MEN use force imbued weapons. 😎

There was brown too. I think only 1 or 2 in Legends maybe? It's been a while since I've read anything about it, so I could be wrong. But if I was a Jedi, I would go with brown because I'm a Ween fan.

Just like you said SF1 , well since orange is a mix of red and yellow..your saber color does reflect your overall principle's an opinions of the force N ways it should be used...so we got a mix of yellow sentinel colorwhich is to me a more optionated force user although a light sider that would dabble their Darkside of needed...we got red associated with the sith and pretty much evil..I think those orange saber wielders are like dark Jedi Darkside adepts
    ..their pretty much the LIGHTSITH
