Where did it exist? In all of the research it all pointed to Samuel L. Jackson. Mace Windu was the first occurrence of purple being seen.
It did make resurgences after Windu though.

green was to stand out against the blue Tatooine sky in return of the jedi because the blue didn't look good against the blue sky
Green lightsabers also became a thing because blue blended with the blue sky background during the sarlacc pit fight scene

Yellow represents people who like to steal the name of other jedi and take it for their own, before burying their weapons on a planet they hated.
It is an oddly specific color and therefore pretty rare.

That is true, psychologically the more overused the less desirable something becomes. Lightsabers are essentially like mood rings to reflect the inner being of the wielder.
As much as I like something cool and original, I think I would end up creating a green one haha.

Originally it was just meant to be blue for Jedi and red for Sith.
Green only happened because they found that blue didn’t contrast well against the desert background in the early scenes of Return of the Jedi, so they changed it to green at the last minute. That’s why in most posters and trailers for RotJ Luke’s lightsaber is still blue.
Purple only happened as a personal favour to Samuel L Jackson who wanted that colour.
For a very long time those were the only colours that existed in proper canon, with others only being in books, comics, and games, but the they’ve been gradually introduced into canon materials.

Huh so I love the Cyan color and use it for Cal but his explanation of the colors meaning actually fits me so well as someone not too deep into Star Wars lore. I often want to learn more when i play through Cals games and often explore a lot to find them

I love how all lightsaber colors have a different meaning. If I had one it would be blue, and another lightsaber would be green.

Yes yes, we all know the real reasons the different colors exist, but it’s cool how they made lore beyond purely “looks cool”

Not all. Some of it is in the current canon, such as corrupting/bleeding crystals to make red sabers.
@@jayb8934 The part of healing the crystal existed in Legends too, but its user chose its color, it didn't necessarily become white like Ahsoka's, the synthetic crystal could also be healed.
@@jayb8934It's worth remembering that I completely prefer the Star Wars Legends universe, especially regarding lightsabers. I posted the comment just to point out that almost everything is Legends.

green is my favorite color, but red is my favorite lightsaber
My lightsaber is red unless I grip too hard then it is purple.
I'm going to make my own classification based off of class. Due to the unique circumstances of red lightsabers and the darksaber, they won't be included.
*Blue:* Jedi Guardian.
*Purple/Indigo:* between Guardian & Consular but leaning toward Guardian.
*Bronze:* between Guardian & Consular but leaning toward Consular.
*Green:* Jedi Consular.
*Cyan:* between Consular & Sentinel but leaning toward Consular.
*Orange:* between Consular & Sentinel but leaning toward Sentinel.
*Yellow:* Jedi Sentinel.
*White/Silver:* between Sentinel & Guardian but leaning toward Sentinel (I don't think the crystals turned White because Ahsoka healed them, just that they bonded to her once she healed them and she happened to fit the color due to her neutrality).
*Magenta:* between Sentinel & Guardian but leaning toward Guardian.
So about Red crystal...
No, the sith uses a kyber crystal attuned to a lightsaber and make it "bleed" cause a kyber crystal is "living" and the Sith basically enslave them to their will rather than attuned them like Jedi does. Normally, the crystal calls the jedi versus the Sith who take a Jedi lightsaber obtain by defeating the Jedi in question.
Synthetic crystal was a thing in Legends.

Depends on the meaning on colorless. That can be interpreted as black or white. White is independence, while black represents the leaders of the Mandalorian.

Fun fact: The light saber colors didn't originally have any meaning they were purely cosmetic
actually, Luke's green saber didn't happen bc of those values that you mentioned. his crystal is synthetic, which meant he created it himself with the Force after he lost his father's saber on Bespin. he needed to get a new one quickly, and that was the only option at the time. so yeah 👍🏻

The purple lightsabers meaning reminds me of jin sakai from ghost of tsushima because jin went against his samurai code but still fought like a samurai sometimes but also assassinating people and using poison and bombs like the enemy in the middle of fighting like a samurai

White is so underrated
Ehemm! In legendary canon ( EU , Kotor etc ) red crystals along with any other color ( white, black isnt colors, still ) exists naturally. Though the Sith wanted to be self sufficient by producing synthetic variants instead of exhausting the natural ones. You have at least three types of Kyber crystals. 1: pre colored, force neutral, can have some traits but not always due to force sensitive. Though the force owner could enhance the cystals properties. 2: force sensitive attuning that can also be bled 3: synthetic. Also for me and what others have stated. Cals lightsaber colors were Cyan -> Orange. Both fits well with his personality and storyline
Yellow is also assosioted with jedi sentinals
If I remember red is naturally occuring, I don't exactly remember the details but an obsidian kyber crystal rays are naturally red no matter the alignment

Red crystals are in fact natural, but incredibly rare!!! However, most Sith Lords tend to prefer the old ways, in that they would kill a jedi, taker their saber, and “bleed” the crystal to make it red
I love star wars immensely, and i still dont understand the big deal with orange lightsabers. When fallen order was announced people threw a fit about orange crystals only being available with a preorder but like… as said the meaning of the color varies??

Apparently, he has a history in canon with a yellow blade at some point before becoming a master as well, but that isn't what I know it from.

Synthetic Sith crystals aren't canon anymore. That was the LEGENDS explanation as to why their lightsabers were red. In current Canon, Sith bleed natural crystals to bend them to their will.
Purple crystals do not signify a connection to both the Light and Dark, they signify that a force user has mastered their own darkness (fears, angers, etc).
