  • Most often, dishwashers connect to a drain beneath the kitchen sink but they don't have to. In this video, I show you how I plumbed a dishwasher drain hose into the ABS waste-water system beneath a house. Let's get started

    The installation looks good. Houses over here do not have a basement but it looks like a great way to be able to easily get to services

      The area below a house is called a "Crawl Space" for good reason. A better option is to have a full basement but many, single story bungalos (like mine) are over a short crawl space. They are handy yes but awkward to access or do much with, hence the stuff crammed in there. I need shelving...hey....another video projects! Thanks for commenting, Joseph. Always good to hear from you. Go buy your cameraman a cup of tea!

    Nice job, but I don't think you need a P trap, as most (if not all) dishwashers have one built into their hosing configuration.

      I thought to put one in anyway. It will help prevent sewer gas from backing up in the line.

    How's she goin'? Plumbing like a pro there Craig!! Good idea for the direct drain connection for the Dish Washer rather than run it through the cupboards!! BTW I was clapping the whole time but still managed to get a few things. I couldn't get that spool of wire though, pocket wasn't big enough!! Take care!

      Yeah, i saw you put the starter solenoid in your pocket! It seems that I never get out of that place. Just moments ago I was in there again digging through a box of heavy hydraulic pumps, alternators and other car parts looking for a starter for a friend's Ford Focus. What's in there would scare most people.... So when you bring that solenoid back, wait for a chaperone to take you back in there.

    I’m doing a similar install, do you have the drain hose in a high loop or straight down below the floor?

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jasonrestoule9175 the drain hose does a high loop on the side of the dishwasher then under the house I coiled it before entering the ABS drain pipe. I left the coil so that I can have some slack to pull the dishwasher out when needed. It’s been more than a year, and this has worked perfectly.

    • @jasonrestoule9175
      @jasonrestoule9175 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the fast response! I ended up routing the drain hose under the kitchen cabinets (huge job), and installed the wye under the sink. I had to splice onto to 1/2 inch poly, which made a perfect high loop. My first option was tapping into the drain under the floor, but I had no room for the loop. I’m glad I stumbled on your video, thanks again!

    Great job, I can't get to mine from underneath (unless I dig a hole)

    • @EverydayProjects

      Crawl spaces are both a blessing and a curse. Handy to access the water-works and stuff but nasty to get around in. I spent several months under this old shack when I first bought it, digging out soil by hand to increase the height. In some places it was mere inches high. Now it's, on average, 4 feet high. More digging needed. When are you coming to British Columbia, Bill? I have shovels for the whole family!
