C’mon Nigel, Build it!!!! Mrya means Dream, so let’s go man. I have the Revell kit, and i think i’m going to build it next year, when i find Metallic Parts etched and resin upgrades. I have the Buran in the same scale, but i have no CCCP decals made by Begemot. Modelsvit is maybe one of the best companies out there, i have several kits of this mark, T-10, Several fitters, Beriev VVA-14, the Blinder and the Geophysica, they worth every euro i paid for. I am waiting for their Mirage 2000’s

Nigel, I live close to DFW airport, and on one side of the airport is the AA maint hangers for the big boys, you drive down a little further and you see the cargo depot for the cargo planes. 2 Antov 124's come around october yearly and its a sight to see. I drove up to the fence to get a close look at it and its pretty huge. It looks like a cross between a C-5a and a 747, it has the the samme blue and yellow swoosh stripe on the side of it, funky looking bird seen in the Lone Star state..

Those big bumps on top of fuselage were not for Buran as many ppl say, but it was planned to by used as launch platfrom for MAKS Air Launched Orbiter. Big fuel tank of MAKS should sit on top of them. Probably there should be mounted some rails for actual air launch.

One of the other exterior cargos to be carried was the Energia rocket parts and other rocket external tanks (al a shuttle). At one point it was considered as a HOTOL Launcher!

Mriya has several meanings. In Ukrainian it is "dream", in Russian it is a female first name meaning "friendly or cheerful" Either fits. The version of the kit you have Nige is the latest improved version.

When I saw how large the box is it made me 😆 laugh. You could almost make a dog house for Jess with that box. I saw this Plane at our airport from several miles away it loomed above everything on the tarmac. A great review!

That's a serious blob of plastic there!
But to be serious, Modelsvit has made a huge step in improving the product line.
I have several kits of the forerunner of Modelsvit, A-model and they are a pig to put together, parts sometimes requiring so much cleanup and reshaping to make them fit that making a new part from scratch sometimes is an easier option.
From A-model I own the AN-22 which is an absolute beast, also with Fiberglas reinforced resin wings and fuselage, it has some interior detail, although a lot of scratch building will be required to make it stand out.
The quality of molding and the plastic itself has improved a lot, Modelsvit apparently replaced all injection moulding machines when they took over the A-model brand and have since redeveloped many of the older kits as well as producing all new models.
The first kit I own from Modelsvit is the Tu-22 Blinder and it's a beautiful kit.
I hope you do a series of videos on this bird as soon as an interior kit will be available, but you will need a spare room to display this behemoth while being loaded.
Even a 2 car EMU train has flown within the belly of this plane, that's a whole 45-50m of train!

  • @ChoppersModelworks

Wow, you seriously got some real modeling for your money spent. And the fiberglass looks to be one of the better ones done from what i could tell. I just hope the landing gear will hold up.

Gorgeous plane. I love these big Russian cargo haulers. Even that big helicopter. Good review. I believe the shoulder covers are covering the support structure for the Buran. So not directly a support but a way to bring the load to the wingspar. But it could also be for a cargo pod.

    • @NigelsModellingBench
