    Bought my 2003 Hummer H2 in 2007, it had 55000 miles on it. Now in 2020 it has 255000 miles and still going strong, best vehicle i have ever owned by far and i still get complements.

    I own one since 2003; back then H2 was really hated and I get cut-off so many times by ignorant drivers then. Whatever, they are prob jealous. I still have it 126,000 K, same front grill as this one. We installed a 3rd row seat (3 seater , great for kids), open K&H filter among other upgrades. We used it primarily to tow our 24 footer cabin cruiser. I’ll keep it forever.

    I have an 08 Hummer H2. The interior is WAY nicer than the earlier models. I had it transferred into a Duramax diesel and it is so much better! Leaps and bounds better! MPG doubled and the response is so much better too. Highly recommend.

    I've always found it odd that the H2/H3 styling is so controversial, when everyone loves the looks of the Wrangler unlimited, Ford Bronco, Toyota FJ... all of which look very similar. I personally think the H2's look awesome.

  • @hungryhungryhummer

    The 08-09 had Major upgrades. The engine made a decent amount more horsepower than previously. They also moved from the 4 speed to the 6 speed for better highway cruising 0-60 and fuel economy. The interior also got a huge upgrade. They got rid of the stupid button layouts and the fisher price plastic and everything on the dash is pleather. Not to mention the 08-09 also moved the towing capacity up from 6400 pounds to an 8200lb max 8000 recommended. The 3rd row also got 2 seats this time since the tire was moved to the rear.
    And no. It isn’t basically a suped up Tahoe. It has the rear end from a Tahoe with a locker but that’s where it stops. The front is heavy duty 2500 Torsen diff and the middle section is custom from Amg to give more ground clearance and a way shorter wheelbase. It also has tons of skid plates underneath as well and can fit 35’s stock. Also payload is somewhere around 2300lbs. Overall is drives closer to something like a 2500 pickup with a shorter wheelbase.
    I do have to agree something like a wrangler or a lifted XJ will beat it rock crawling just because of the weight, size and solid axles. However the h2 has a much better daily driving experience and is more utilitarian for overlanding. It would be nice to see them back into production again with gas prices coming down and the Jeep/truck craze with gen z. Everyone at my high school loves the damn thing.

      They also got dual fans to cool down the transmission efficiently while towing excessively.
      Well youre kind of lucky. The hummer is back into productivity. Known as the EV. Amazing how the H2 still looks better after 20 years compared to the new hummer of today.
      Amazing.

      @@danielzimnoch4365 WOW! And I was wondering if I was taking to much of a risk considering an 06 with 210K miles on it! Over 400K on yours is amazing!🤯 Did you have to replace a lot of parts? Any suggestions on keeping them running long enough to reach that mileage? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

    • @danielzimnoch4365
      @danielzimnoch4365 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thalo9237 yes, by the time one reaches that many miles, lots of parts will have to be replaced. This one is on second engine. Recently installed a newer but used transmission. Ripped entire break system out and installed new including calipers, brackets, rotors, pads, new lines; all new shocks, control arms. In order to keep the truck running long, you have to maintain it, by replacing fluids, seals. I'm sure it has a lot to do with how you drive too.

    I think these things are gonna make a comeback. I love mine. I offroad it frequently. Not a lot of mud here in AZ but great jeep trails. After a week of overlanding bring it home and wax it, clean it, armor armorall everything and it's back to "damn this is luxurious. " and that's it's best feature I think. It's a great blend of rugged off road beast (stock I might add) and also very very comfortable to road trip or daily drive. Great review man.

    I own six Hummers 3H twos and 3H threes one of the ones I have the guy I got it from got a one-way ticket and flew to Indiana to pick it up and drove it back to Colorado. The hummer chassis is made in Indiana the Tahoe chassis is made down in Texas, the H2 chassis is thicker, material and stronger. I love my hammers and your reviews pretty good.

    Pretty good review. Probably one of the best I have heard. One part I do not like is the reference to the tahoe. They are pretty much completely different vehicles. The Tahoe was a 5.6l, and very few came with the 3/4 ton rear axle like the H2 has. The frame also is ONLY for a hummer. You can say its pieced together, but the truth is its custom made for the hummer alone. Also the transmission of the H2 models 05-07 had the 4l65e which was never used in the tahoe. The transfer case of the H2 also offered a low 3.05 ratio that was not offered on the tahoe. I realize you can not get everything in a video. And again you did a very good job.

      I'm not sure the H2 really has a 3/4 rear axle, at least the rear end which is 9.5". My 2000 F150 had a 9.75" rear end and it was a 1/2 ton. I think the 3/4 ton Fords had 10"+ rear ends in those years. But it might be considered 3/4 for GM. I don't know. Considering you're not hauling 7,000 plus loads it's probably good enough.

    Can fill up the H2 gas tank to go an extra 60,000 miles with all the money saved by not buying a new car at the average new car price. Then you gotta buy fuel for the new car also. Creates too much pollution? Thats making a lot of assumptions about the owners habits. So let me make some assumptions, I would venture to say many H2s pollute less than most cars because they are second or third vehicles/weekend toys/owned by people who don't drive a lot of miles because high mileage drivers are less interested. Hybrids can be big polluters because their owners tend to drive very high mileage and that's why they get hybrids to save on gas, but the hybrid owners are driving so far that the smaller pollution adds up based on their lifestyle choice needs.

    People keep getting the frame design wrong and it's so simple: The H2 is a 3/4 ton Suburban frame forward of somewhere under the back doors(with a unique front diff mounting). The back third nominally is half ton, because GM wanted to use coils in the rear rather than 2500 leaf springs. But the axle is still the corporate 3/4 ton unit. The only reason the frame transitions is purely the coil spring perches; everything else is 2500/3500.

    H2 is NOT a Tahoe. These were built at the AM General facility with a uniquely built middle section and a stand alone 6.0 that isn't in a Tahoe.

    Were is the spare tire?

    • @danielzimnoch4365
      @danielzimnoch4365 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Should be inside the trunk on the left but looks like he took it out. In my opinion having the spare tire inside, makes the truck look better on the outside. Having a huge tire outside, it blocks too much of the rear end.

    • @hungryhungryhummer
      @hungryhungryhummer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Zimnoch I disagree. My 08 has the tire outside and a 3rd Row with 2 huge seats. I think the tire on the outside makes the off road look and frees up room when you remove the seats.

      Roger Bunch the H1 is the same vehicle with the same engine as the HMMWV. The only main difference is a way nicer interior with ac and a radio.
