Fuel economy not bad at all, its a terrible point that poor people focus on…People spend $200 a month on coffee no big deal, $500 a month on booze no big deal, $300 on video games no big deal, $1000 a month at casino no big deal…Spend $50-100 extra on gas and omg your broke.
Yes many ways to look at it, but to car enthusiasts like us, it's just part of the game you play in this world! Thanks again for your feedback and for watching !!
For record not self reflecting. I don’t gamble or even drink coffee. Just trying to demonstrate that most people are financial illiterate and automotive illiterate. The H2 is prob the best used car available. It holds its value, minimal maintenance which you can easily do yourself, safest car to drive, insurance is cheap, parts are readily available, fun to drive , easy to upgrade. I have had mine 7 months now. Ill be uploading youtube vids soon.
05 H2 w/455K miles still going. Maintenance is the key. 11.8 mpg. Probably better mileage than a Ferrari or a lambo 😂 I’m not complaining though. Fun truck to drive.
The H2 gets better mileage than a 69 Camaro and other musclecars. Would be hilarious if when people saw a 69 camaro they went "they must spend a lot on gas"
I love my yellow H2 more so than my H1 alpha. First thing to do is buy an external tire carrier. The rear seat is not bolted its removable. There's an additional (late version) that has the entire bench in tje back as the spare was moved to the outside of the vehicle. And yes an adult can sit in the 6th seat. Not comfortable for anyone over 5'4 but it works. The economy is actually not to bad 14 to 16 on the freeway.the trick is mid grade fuel not 89. The h2 loves to be loaded. So towing won't hurt your economy. I tow my boat and still get 14mph. The people that Hate the hummer are the people that have never been in one and heard something bad from another person that has never owned one. There are some negatives. Cheap parts from GM. The instrument cluster will fail along do to cheap motors. Also the bolts on the exhaust headers will fail as well, those tend to rust and the bolt heads will brake causing an exhaust leak.easy fix with 10 bucks worth of after markwt bolts. Just FYI in case someone is looking into buying one.
I have owned a 2003 H2 for about 9 years now and despite a few NORMAL wear and tear issues with it I absolutely love it. It is a great riding vehicle which no one expects. They see it and other modified H2's and people think your bouncing down the road. What people do NOT know is they built the Hummer plant directly beside another plant that built the Cadillac Escalade . Also very few people know that the Hummers suspension was sooo Good that the next year Cadillac Stole the undercarriage of the Hummer H2 and slapped it underneath the Escalade so does anyone think and Escalade ride stinks? NOT !!! . We have two walk in service body work trucks that get around 5 miles per gallon so on the weekend when I get in my Hummer to drive it and its gets 11 mpg I feel great because I am doubling my gas milage so like everything in life its all in how you look at things. My Hummer is all stock except for swapping out the running lights and headlamps with LED replacements. I just turn a 105k miles and honestly it still excites me when I climb up in the cab and am going to drive it and I am almost 60 years old and very few things still get me excited. Yes I would love to have that Brand New Hummer EV but used prices on this new version start typically at a $175k and go over $210k so if you can find a great shaped used one for $20 to $25k that will leave you a $190 thousand dollars left over for fuel !!! Anybody thought of it that way?? lol. Plus nothing like the rumble of a USA made V-8 engine , UGH !! I LOVE MY HUMMER H2, You will too if you take that leap of faith and get one.
AWESOME spot on assessment! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perspective. Sure is a great ride, with many of the PROS you emphasized. Thanks for watching :)
Great video, as a 05 H2 owner for over about 8 years now I love it and will probably never sell it. With only 175000 I hope to get a lot more life from it. Wish it had the motor & trans my 08 Escalade had which was the 6.2 and if I remember correctly it had a 6 speed trans but otherwise the 6.0 gets the job done and remains very reliable.
Favorite vehicle i have ever owned. Had an 04 and 08. Im in Phoenix Az. I love the way the windows are positioned. There is very little direct sunlight hitting you compared to any other car. Also, I liked the distance the side window is from your shoulder and head.
I'm lucky to own an 05!! Turn heads all the time...25 bucks per week of gas ain't nothing, lucky I work close by but I wouldn't mind if I had to put more gas, the feeling of driving this thing is priceless ( 5'5" person or shorter can sit perfectly in the rear seat...parts are cheap on line also.., I don't see myself driving another truck but the H2, loved my H3 as well but nothing like the H2!!
Thank you for this quality review which does not denigrate the H2, there are plenty of 4x4s but I find that the Hummer is timeless and stands out from the crowd, I own a 957 Cayenne Turbo but I grew up playing with miniature H2s and I am lucky to have a friend who owns one with which I could do some rallies, by watching this video, I can't wait to buy mine ! Good luck with the evolution of your channel !
The average new car buyer finances $36k so plus $5k in interest on a car that will depreciate $15k in 5 years. So they spend 20k extra over 4 years. Then they spout about a $16k cash car Hummer H2 gas mileage. What the new average new car buyer fails to realize is the hummer wont devalue and the h2 buyer didnt finance so the hummer driver is essentially getting $20k of free gas and maintenance over the first 5 years compared to the average new car buyers choice. And then the new the new car buyer after 5 years buys a whole new car and the H2 driver just keeps driving their H2.
Absolutely true! Surely different ways to buy / enjoy cars for everyone but no depreciation (and some appreciation!) is surely awesome on these rides! Thanks for stopping by today!
You are incorrect about the frame, it has it's own design. it's a square box frame for it wont flex going over obstacles, When I seen them at the factory , i was just thinking it was just a Hype-up Tahoe. You can look up the GM training tutorials on design and capability you will realize it was ahead of it's time. in the new trailboss there are using some of the design feature from the Hummer.
I've watched (or tried) many videos about the H2, and yours is by far the best produced. It would be great to see you do a part 2 on specific H2 mechanical/design issues. I am currently in the market to buy an H2, so this video helps a lot. Cool channel, thanks for the info!
Thanks for the kind words! Appreciate you stopping by. Unfortunately the hummer has now been sold but please stay tuned for many more videos / reviews to come!!
I've had one for a few years. Issues have been leaks in rain. Either from sunroof drain clog or the lights on the roof or from inside the hood Cowl. The roof leaks can compromise the headliner. Leaks oil but its pretty normal for a 6.0. There is like a plastic oring in the shifter linked under the truck connecting the gear lever in the car to the transmission. It is prone to break. Especially if you slam the gear shifter in to park and basically bang the shiter linkage. I got the part at autozone for like 3 dollars on one of the isles and slod under thebtruck there to swap it. The plastic hatch handle will break if you try to open and raise the hatch by the plastic handle to fast. Especially if the hatch struts aren't doing the job anymore. If it breaks you have to replace the entire plastic rear license pocket because the handle is molded in. When the pocket is hard to find they are $500. But it seems they are back in stock by a supplier so they are down to 225 on the web bay. But no telling how many more they have. I bought an extra just in case they get rare again and I need one. Oh yeah and the instrument cluster will fail. It happens across all the gm trucks from then. It cost like $100 through ubay to fix. The 4wd transfer case shift motor may go out. But it's a $70 part. So all just small issues. If you intend to offroad you will want stronger aftermarket tierods. Never selling mine. Love it. Hope you found yours.
AM General rep was at a combination Cadillac/Hummer dealership to showcase the new features on the 2006 H2 and was fielding questions. Regarding the frame, the H2 was designed from the frame up because it needed a HD frame to handle the flex and weight it was designed for. Cobbling parts of existing frames would have been more expensive and not meet the design parameters. Asked why every magazine and other review said it was nothing more than a Tahoe frame with some modifications? He laughed and said none of them asked.
Just picked up one of these recently, 03 in yellow. ($16K) It's a true time capsule (all original), but it's going to be getting modernized, and some much needed tlc. I've actually gotten mostly positive reactions, any nay sayer I'll tell them, 1) It's got catalyitic converters, and 2). It gets decent MPG for a modern Chevy K5 Blazer (think 70's, that averaged 5mpg) and it is a true full time AWD. Hood is actually light and is fiberglass, I doubt you would be able to open a metal hood that easily. I haven't seen a major impact on the wallet and I came from a Nissan that had a V6 (for a 2019 Frontier it actually had really bad fuel economy). Speaking of which, this H2 while wider is both shorter, more nimble, and more capable, compared to my former ride. Finding replacement parts for the mechanical side is easy and cheap, and anything internal or external that's Hummer brand can either be found at a junk yard or made through a 3d printer. It's not for everyone, but those that make good use of them appreciate them, even with all the quirks. The only major upgrade I am considering is changing the transmission to a 4L80e or 6L80e from the notorious 4L60E.
I've owned two Hummers previously they are always in my heart I'm getting my third in a couple of weeks I can't wait I love Hummers they are my favorite truck. The nasty looks from the libs are a plus🤣🤣
THIS IS........BY FARRRR!! The ABSOLUTE BEST video about my BELOVED Hummer h2's!! This video is humorous, factual, educational and greatly entertaining! I am NOW SUBSCRIBED!! Thank you so much for this 🙏 AWESOME VIDEO, I can now continue to flip people off when they glare, gawk and grimace 😬 as me and my KING 👑 OF THE DAMNED ROAD, wiz by them as they choke and gag on my caustic, thick, black exhaust fumes spewing out of my rear end meant for lower life form Zombies of the lower roads!
I own a 2003 H2, it’s Med. Sage Green.bought it in 2013 same year my daughter was born. Gas prices at the time were $4.54 Gal. I’ve added different mods to increase the MPG…I didn’t buy the truck for gas mileage but for the cool factor…always wanted one in high school ..Very reliable truck, I’ve replaced the transmission added a corvette servo, New Remanufactured Engine put in 3 years ago I run AMSOIL Fluids in it only. New AFE 3” inch Exhaust.. I Love this truck and baby it religiously and don’t plan on getting rid of it!!❤
My 05 H2 Hummer got me through Donner Summit on the worst blizzard storm of the year not only one year, but two consecutive years in horrible snow and winds in the dark of the winter sky. Went from Sacramento to Truckee and back to Sacramento (travelled for work). The most under appreciate vehicle I had owned until those days. The only problem I had was from the visibility from the windshield freezing over. It got me home safe. It literally dug out its own path through the snowed-out highway on Christmas Eve to get me back home to the wife and kids. Let there be no doubt that this vehicle is a bar setter for any future truck or SUV I might purchase when the time comes to send the H2 off to that big farm in the sky. (Also, my H2 has a name, it’s MC Hummer. What is your Hummer’s name?)
Its stories like yours that truly show just how capable and unstoppable H2's can be! We took ours into the snow once and it handled it with ease! Unfortunately we weren't creative enough to come up with a name that fantastic 😂! Hope you keep enjoying yours for years to come! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your story!
Excellent, educated review. I enjoy reading and hearing comments on the H2, despite that, like my 2003, they can be 20 yrs old. It keeps kicking frame deep mud, crossing streams and rivers. Happy Trails everyone!
Hey! Loved the video! I bought a 2008 H2 Luxury version in January 2015 and i have the 6.2L engine and i have NO engine upgrades. All my hoses and belts are original! I only did an All Fluid change in 2022!!! Everything is original but Brakes. Every year i get my inspection at an Old Hummer dealer now a GMC dealer..and tell them to find anything needing replacement!! They can't find anything! Oh yea..back in that 2022 inspection i told them to do the first for this vehicle ...a 152,000 mile engine check-up and change the original Spark Plugs!! As I sat in the waiting room the service guy comes over to me with a handful of used spark plugs and firstly says to me... What type of Gas do you put in this truck???? I said " I only use Sunoco and sometimes Exxon Premium gas"! Why whats wrong?? He shows me a handful of plugs and said..Look at these plugs! I said yea...what about them? I see you cleaned them off with a rag??? He said NO! THIS IS HOW CLEAN THEY JUST CAME OFF THAT ENGINE! CLEAN LIKE BRAND NEW! I said..well thats good..right? I was expecting black gunky ones. So whats the problem??? He said...well keep doing whatever your doing!! I only use Sunoco..Exxon .or Shell and only the Premium gad that is stated on my gas cover and let me tell everyone...I live in Eastern Pennsylvania and around town i get 14-18 MPG and abit more on the highway. i can find the Sweet spot on the gas peddle!!! Yes HUMMER OWNERS..THERE IS A SWEET SPOT ON THAT GAS PEDDLE. NOTE: I ALSO OWN A FORD EXPEDITION ( MY 3RD ONE) A 2019 LIMITED. AND again..i have out done the written estimate MPG for these vehicles also. 17mpg....I NORMALLY GET 22MPG around town and i was getting 28 on the highway lastweek! I am a woman age 66 and everywhere i go with my H2 i get comments! Your so small...how do you drive that thing? And the dreaded.question....My Age!! Ya see..i have a full head of GREY HAIR! LOL😂 this H2 is my truck and mine alone! My husbund is not a fan of the H2 at all ...he will not drive it ! But i can keep it till we downsize the house and retire...( we have 5 garage bays) i huess we will move into a condo with 1 short garage door. Lol Untill then...i share my time between the H2 and the Expy.! The H2 has no dents..rot..or scratches..it's in pristine condition in and out. Seats look showroom quality not even a wrinkle! And 154,000 miles only upgrade was a new stereo/ bluetooth headunit inside ! No water leaks from the roof lites or sunroof. All dash buttons work! Wish i could post a photo!
Sorry forgot to state...I bought my H2 January 2015 when Gas in my area was over $ 5.00 a gallon ! Today October 2023 it's down to $4.79 a gallon. And I still drive it!
Amazing write up and thanks for sharing your story. These are marvelous cars especially today at the price point they are at. Challenge is sometimes finding a clean one. Thanks for stopping by our channel and enjoy your H2!
A vehicle that I can literally do anything I need too. Street driving, towing, offroading and has all the comfort you need on road trips. The engine is an icon very simple maintenance and durability. It's a complete terra vehicle! I love my 2003 just got it always wanted one and when prices got affordable I swooped.
There are definitely deals to be had on these, and an awesome all in one vehicle. Hopefully you get many years of enjoyment out of her. Thanks for stopping by!
I have a clean ‘03 with low miles. It’s a dream car that became a reality. I absolutely love it. I’m an avid adventure seeker, and it fits my lifestyle perfectly. Plus, it has limited my road rage incidences to zero because everyone just gets out of my way. And for a extra $40 a month on fuel compared to my old Nissan frontier it’s well worth it.
Great video, i am in love lately with the hummer H2, i wanna buy one sometime, i just hope its not too expensive in the long run. The higher fuel economy is ok, i drive quite economic, and paying a bit more for fuel etc. Is ok, as a car lover. And this car just looks awesome and has lots of prestige on the road. Your Channel is super underrated, great funny moments, well explained, real and honest opinions etc. You are great! Subscribed as well
Previous Owner Of A H-2 Loved It. These Vehicles Endure Plenty & Are Affordable To Maintain. Now I'm Looking At A Cadillac Escalade ESV W/ Rear Entertainment & Then Some. Beautiful Car. However, A Hummer Gets A Ding, Scratch You Don't Get Pissed Off. It's A Hummer. Hello!
Bought mine 9 years ago for 20k. Getting 23k offers today. After 9 years. Never had any problems with it. Oil changes and brakes. Driven by my wife to work everyday. It just looks different on the road. Will never sell it..... (well...unless I partially trade it for H1)
Hummer H2 is my dream car. I like 08/09 model, interior is much better, it has bigger engine and it's "better" on ⛽️. I'm saving money to buy one, but in Europe is really expensive. H1 is good H2 is the best H3 is a big miss Btw, what do you think about Hummer EV? Greetings from Montenegro! 🙂
Just a thought. Honestly, if you can think of it this way, by the time you can get an 08/09 you may be better off getting an earlier year and just customizing the interior and upgrading the drivetrain to better quality parts(i.e. transmission swap to a newer gm 10 speed.), may also be cheaper in the long run as well (this was my logic at least), though I'm not in Europe, but I'd imagine the savings would be noticible over there with the higher prices. Personally I don't Hate the Hummer EV, but I think a big opportunity was missed by not making a Diesel Electric hybrid version. Having a Diesel engine/generator, same electric motors and slightly smaller battery would of actually made it a useable vehicle. I think (hydrogen) H2 I.C.E. will have higher chances of sucess than the current electric push, as it'd not only be better for the enviroment, but safer as well (as battery fires are truely scary).
Glad I picked one up myself. I wasn’t too surprised on the attitude I get from others on the road but that actually makes me happy and proud for such a reasonable price. You don’t purchase older 4x4’s for the fuel mileage.
Bought my 05 last summer with 108k miles and it has been nothing but impressive. In the past I've driven a truck for a year or two and traded it in. This thing isn't going anywhere!
How to get better gas milage... 1st. A good tuneup. Use NGK Vpower plugs and good wires. 2nd. Move more air through the engine. An LS wants to breath. A good cold air system and high flow cat back will definitely help. 3rd. Chuck some weight out of it. Extra seat in the back, front push bar, side step bars, roof racks, even the spare tire and metal mount can go unless maybe you are going on a road trip. And of course last but not least,, keep your foot out of it.. Do all that and pick up 3-4 miles a gallon.
I had an H3 back in the day. Bf at the time found my spare keys and drunk drove it right into a light pole. The car had a perfect U shape about 2 feet deep dead center on the front bumper. Any other car would have been crushed. Ended up being totaled but wow that car was tuff. Now I’m looking to buy an H2.
Yes, I imagine same can be said for the H2 as well. Definitely feels like a very robust tank all around! You can't go wrong picking one up, nothing quite else like it on the road! Thanks for stopping by!!
where im from the Hummer H2 is not the most hated vehicle. I drive mine and all I ever get are lots of looks and compliments. Even had a guy wanting to buy mine from me and I had a note on the windshield saying how nice my Hummer is.
Had a 2003 H2 ...and loved it ...everyone asked me how I liked it ...I heard about the 2023 EV doing 0-60 in 5 seconds with 1000 hp and 1000 fp torque for $120k I want one so bad
Those new ones are definitely in a league of their own, and a completely different ride!! Thanks for stopping by - even though our '03 H2 is gone, it is surely missed!!!
Those Trucks Were The Most Badass Vehicles Of The 2000's! It's A Same They Don't Make The Gas Guzzling Millitaristic Vehicles Anymore Due To The 2008 Ressesion. They Do Make Hummers But Only As A Electric Vehicle Named The GMC Hummer EV Which Is Even The Same As The Original Hummers.
@@thedesertroad The GMC Hummer EV Will Never Surpass The Original Hummers. Environmentalist Are Annoying Complaining About How Their Gas Guzzlers & Their Bad For The Environment Which Is Totally A Lie
H2s are Awesome Rigs, All American, and really not that bad on fuel, only issues they really have is the weak transmissions that are in them that keep going out.
Greatest SUV ever for me. It looks very luxorius and powerful. If you drive this in Eastern Europe people will insta have respect for you. No need to do anything more!
If you have to worry about the fuel economy, you can afford it walk away. If you don’t have to worry about gas, mileage and that’s what you want you get it. I use mine for a daily driver and I really don’t care of our fuel mileage. I love my Hummer 2
I am just saying, buy one of these, perfect it’s suspension, then swap it to diesel to get the mpg and power. Costly, like 40k overall after the swap, but it’s what it takes to perfect it
Which vehicle sucks more gas ... Hummers or Hondas ... Not so fast ... the answer is Hondas ... there are literally 10,000 Hondas on the road per each one Hummer still operating !!! But individually their fuel economy is so bad ... ! Do people buy Corvettes for fuel efficiency ... ??? But Corvettes go really fast ... ! So your saying you bought the vehicle to break the law ... ? The Hummer is the best Utility vehicle out there for the money ... close to the off road capability of a jeep Rubicon, more seats and cup holders than a Raptor ... Heavy enough to pull a trailer something jeeps can't do well ... with the ride of an escalade on the Highway ... all for $20k - $30k ... fully depreciated ... so keep up on your maintenance and your H2 will only gain in value as a collectors item ... while Rubicons and TRX and Raptors massively depreciate over the first 10 years ...
For some of the reasons stated as it was an an 'excess' in almost every way, especially when gas prices were and remained high. Nevertheless it is one of the best cars we ever owned an becoming an icon/legend in its own way. Don't hesitate for one bit to pick one up. Thanks for stopping by!
@@thedesertroad petrol doesn't pollute the atmosphere as much as diesel does as petrol no longer has lead in the fuel and petrol is more friendlier than diesel Not only will it be cheaper but also more reliable than a diesel car, as the latter would require regular high-speed runs to keep its systems functioning properly also petrol emits less CO2 overall
@@ALEX_919 Not sure if there are any diesel H2s here that were produced in the USA - and majority of manufacturers have done away with that now here as well! Pros and Cons to both, as I really enjoyed our A6 TDI held for quite a few years!
Spit on you. You know that is one thing most people will hit someone over lol. There is a reason you can't Spit on a police officer. Aka it's assault on a officer. Spitting on someone is the biggest form of disrespect 😤
Might want to have a Nerf gun to shoot back at them then! If they want to be childish 2 can play at that game!!! (Best part is they wouldn't know what to do about it).
These typically sell in $20-$30K price range today depending on mileage and condition. Absolute steal if you ask us for what you are getting. Thanks for stopping by!
The H2 was not a flop when it came out. It was extremely popular. Everyone who was anyone had one in the early 2000s. But they were 50k which today would be like $84k today inflation adjusted. Gas was 93 cents in 2003. Price adjusted to today that's $1.55. So gas was super cheap and not an issue at all. It was only once gas prices went up over the decade that the H2 lost its appeal. Hummer tried to fix this with the H3 but then the 2008 Financial crisis hit and killed GM. The idea it lost due to its not being earth friendly was a false bias confirmation. But everyone was eventually programmed to acknowledge the cost to drive the hummer was expensive and forgot it used to be cheap. Today as a toy they are great since it's not the daily driver you need a lot of gas for. Even the 69 camaro ss gets less gas mileage than the H2. Yet I've never heard a sole complain about a 69 ss gas mileage. I might have had I'd lived in the 70s when gas got expensive though.

They sure are a blast! Thanks for watching :)
Absolutely! Glad you are enjoying your '05. They are awesome machines. Thanks for watching and your feedback!!
@@thedesertroad thank you!! Keep up with the nice reviews!! 👍
Yes - it's a fantastic underappreciated ride of the past! Thanks for your feedback and for watching :)
We appreciate the correction and feedback! Thanks for watching!
Love this video.. Please do another one on the h2 and h3.. Your a great guy
Thanks for the love and stopping by our channel!
Wow great info!! Thanks for sharing that and watching the channel :)
nice video man! keep it up
Thanks for watching ! :)
AWESOME feedback and good luck with your new car, they are a blast to own and drive!! Thanks for watching.

My father had an orange 03 H2 and he loved it! Never had any reliability issues.
Ours has been rock solid for the year we owned her!! Great cars! Thanks for stopping by :)
I Love this truck and baby it religiously and don’t plan on getting rid of it!!❤
Still one of the best cars on the road!! Enjoy your '03 and thank you for stopping by the channel today !!
I have owned 3 Hummer H2 's . Best off road vehicle ever!!!
These are awesome machines! Sadly ours has already moved on to another loving home to see many more miles get put on. Thanks for stopping by!!
Thanks for your feedback and for watching!! Great Cars!
Lol
Untill then...i share my time between the H2 and the Expy.!
Really is one car that hits so many checkboxes. We cherished the time we had with her in our stable. Thanks for stopping by the channel!

Hummer H2 is my dream car. I like 08/09 model, interior is much better, it has bigger engine and it's "better" on ⛽️. I'm saving money to buy one, but in Europe is really expensive.
H1 is good
H2 is the best
H3 is a big miss
Btw, what do you think about Hummer EV?
Greetings from Montenegro! 🙂
Yes they both got their pros and cons! Thanks for your feedback and for watching :)
Great cars - thanks for stopping by!!

Bought my 05 last summer with 108k miles and it has been nothing but impressive. In the past I've driven a truck for a year or two and traded it in. This thing isn't going anywhere!
Nothing can take place of this beast and it's a great tank in everything it does! Enjoy her and thanks for stopping by the channel today.
I love my Hummer I feel protected and get out of the way. I don’t care about my gas mileage road trips are great.
It's a tank for sure, and not many are built like that anymore! It's a great road trip vehicle. Thanks for stopping by!
All valid points. Thanks for stopping by!

Haha - awesome feedback and thanks for stopping by!
Why is it the most hated? I plan on buying a H2
For some of the reasons stated as it was an an 'excess' in almost every way, especially when gas prices were and remained high. Nevertheless it is one of the best cars we ever owned an becoming an icon/legend in its own way. Don't hesitate for one bit to pick one up. Thanks for stopping by!

the petrol version is better than the diesel version
How so? Thanks for stopping by the channel!

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint! We appreciate you for stopping by!
