Constantly swapping between Isabella & Elizabeth is confusing & totally pointless. Yes, they're 2 versions of the same name, like John & Juan, but within one video, PICK ONE & be consistent. I've _never_ heard her referred to as "Elizabeth" before- English-speakers & writers almost always call her "Isabella", but I believe she was & is called "Isabel" in Spain, so either of those would be far better than Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is actually the most fitting and accurate then Isabella; literally nobody knows her by the name of Elizabeth in the English speaking world; but queen Elizabeth I of England is known in Spain as Isabel I de Inglaterra it all goes back to the biblical name of Elizabeth on the gospel of Luke; Mary’s (Miriam) relative of Elizabeth; mother of John the Baptist both of the name’s are rendered as Maria for Mary and Isabel for Elizabeth i could go on with many more examples for yeah the narrator is accurate

Those are heavily fictional and sensational. Watch RTVE’s Isabel, much closer to the historical figure, they use the real places like the Alhambra in Granada and it as a Film and TV sequels about her daughter Juana (The Broken Crown) and her grandson Charles I & V (Charles King Emperor). I saw these before seeing the White Princess and was so angry when I saw the trailers of TSP that I just went nope. The sets, the story and the intrigues are fantastic and mostly historically accurate unlike the other two who are based on historical fiction. The religious wars in France between Catholics and Huguenots killed 3 million people. England was a Catholic nation of 2.5 million people, and its monarchs oppressed its population until they were Protestants in a short amount of time.
Protestant nations burned 50,000 witches, Catholics less than 1,000 because the Pope said that was frankly misogynistic delusions as early as 1300.
The inquisition only burned 2% of all its cases, around 3,000 people, in 300 years. Spain just kicked out 100,000 Jews and 300,000 Muslims. Spain also forced the same amount to convert (100,000 Jews and 300,000 Muslims). England and France kicked out their Muslims and Jews centuries earlier (1290s). The inquisition for Spain was a political weapon that brought into line an intolerant population that habitually massacred for religion-by having the crown do the deed.
The inquisition confiscated more than killed, so it was no doubt still oppressive. It prevented a catastrophic war within Spain while Europe was imploding with Protestantism. This is the consensus in recent research.
This was still the 16th century, and you even have Turkey committing ethnic cleansing of Armenia and Greece in 20th century after being famously tolerant during the medieval period. It was a terrible, brutal world, and religious intolerance was unfortunately considered virtuous for a long time. People take for granted our ridiculously peaceful world and the ability of hindsight. Nobody had that.
Colonization started in 1493, Isabella died in 1504. In those 11 years Isabella insisted on the fair treatment of natives, but sure put the blame for 300 years of colonization on her. 90% of natives died from disease in a time when germ theory didn’t even exist and people still believed in the four humors, but Isabella insisted on her literal deathbed for their well-being.
Judge history with the spectacle of context. Historical figures are a product of their time, not ours. To say Isabella is uniquely evil does not take into account that, by the standard of their world, she was mild, she could have been worse, but that is still a low bar because a ruler should not be worse but better.

Why the constant switch between Isabella and Elizabeth as names?? Just stick with the one name! Too confusing to follow. Had to rewind to figure out they were the same one, and that was only a few min in. Gave up. If they are 2 different women, then the narrative sucks, and is even more confusing. Pfft!!

I wish people would pronounce Isabella properly. It's EE-sah-bella, NOT EZ-zah-bella. It's the Spanish name for a Spanish woman, and it's disrespectful to blatantly mispronounce it.

Her correct name is Isabel though. EE-SAH-BEHL. Isabella is not a spanish name. If it were, it would be Isabela with one L as two Ls it would be pronounced EE-SAH-BEH-YAH.
