- Queen Isabel of Spain and her husband, King Fernando, achieved the remarkable conquest of Granada as the medieval era gave way to the modern. At the close of the fifteenth century, Fernando II, King of Aragon, and his wife, Isabel, Queen of Castile and León, waged a decade's long war to subdue the Emirate of Granada. This documentary video features the Medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD mod for Total War: ATTILA. Clips sampled by my good friend OtherRealmProductions ( / @otherrealmproductions )

Can you focus a bit on Portuguese reconquista and not so much on the Spanish please.
Bought it to read over the Christmas break, really enjoying it so far!

What a moment. It’s emotional just imagining the moment that after over 700 years Spain was retaken
Then the babaric oppresion on the Jews resumed and also years later, the forceful conversion of muslims and jews to christianity

most of Spain was already reconquered for many centuries, this was a tiny territory that was allowed tp stay there
There are a few really good ancient and medieval history channels that I tune into but Real Crusades History is by far the best. Your passion for history definitely shines through.
Love Spain and the history 🇪🇸🇬🇧
Amen unity always 🇲🇽🇺🇸🙏🏼🙌
These men are amazing but the women the queens are so stout. Whoever said that Christian women were abused or had no power have no understanding of history. This is the real History channel. Amazing work thanks for sharing
Not to mention that the visigothic laws were in use for much of the Christian successor states in Iberia, which was one of the most progressive laws in Europe ever, which granted rights to women. These laws would eventually form into the basis of Spanish law and pretty much laws through Western Europe.
Granada: You fools, no man can kill me!
Isabel: I am no man!

Glad to see you've been able to get Medieval Kingdoms 1212AD working. Another great video lad!
Excellent presentation! Thank you.
Great visuals and your descriptions are succinct while showing the intention of the subject without bias on your part. Excellent work, you’ve earned a subscriber.
thanks for this vid. Both king Ferdinand and queen Isabella well deserved the title Their Most Catholic Majesties.
Isabella of Castile was a remarkable queen who defended her nation from foreign & local enemies.
Sadly, not all her decrees were accomplished by her subjects. She called that Indigenous people were treated as equals, but they did the opposite.
To be fair, she had questionable traits. She did abuse her daughter Joanna because of her 'scepticism'
@@eurech Name a historical leador that had no questionable traits?
Abajo la leyenda negra.Contada por ustedes los anglosajones
Various laws were passed after Isabel regarding the treatment of the indigenous
Well done! Great series! Very educational and an important work.

Excellent accounting of the events! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, and the new footage looks awesome.
Altought the Medieval 1212 mod cover from the 13th to the 15th centuries there are other mods from other expansion packs that can cover other time periods, like the reconquista.

Well well well, someone's gotten a hold of the new Medieval Attila mod!
I imagine a cool movie about the fall of Grenada and the end scene could be a Courtier telling Ferdinand that a man from Genoa was hear to see him and it is Christopher Columbus.
I love the opening theme
queen isabel is the catholic warrior queen and a defender of a catholic faith .. as a roman catholic i really adore her ..

Hats off to everyone involved. Totally Awesome and Mind Blowing !!!!
Any chance you will be re-uploading the full version of the Granada war in the next week or two? I would love to use it as a resource for my IB history class!
Great video could you do one about the Songhai Empire.

A showdown nearly 800 years in the making.
Well done Queen 👑
Isabella, the Catholic, is one of the greatest queens that has ever existed in human history
What a virtuous dame she was she will live on forevermore!
Isabel was the greatest Queen of Europe.
Don't forget Ferdinand II af Aragon, the man was an absolute beast of politics and warfare.
Isabella and Ferdinand both franciscan obelates..monk life style and Supreme education..Pax et bonum

Thanks for the visit
I'm interested in the topic but I find it disconcerting 2 have 2 go through so many very very short vids with breaks in between. I just think it would serve ur purposes better if the usual format of 44 min were 2 b followed at least 2 ensure continuity. But after all what do I know?
Off I go 2 start slogging through Pre - Crusades 8 - 11th Century. Onward and upward!! Cheers

From their letters and observers they loved and respected each other. You don't get what they had without it, it was quite special really.

Actually, Isabella was not present when Boabdil rendered the keys of the city. According at least to the chronicler Del Pulgar.

The Moors razed Ilberia to build Grenada.
Bob Dylan?
Medieval Spain and Portugal are just so beautifully rich! And I don't just mean monetarily rich by a long shot, but rather rich culturally. The music, the painting, the weapons, the erudition... It's all flipping gorgeous! What I would give to have witnessed the fall of Granada!
The music, the painting, the weapons, the erudition all that gorgeous is long gone but The Al Hambra still stands like a mountain with its unparalleled beauty and feeding the whole province with welth and tourism
@@Mosalah1001 , I was mostly referring to the things that set it apart, not the things that make it like everywhere else.
@@Mosalah1001 Every other culture and race have had the same. Go cry about how may people Genghis Khan murdered , The Ottoman Empire , etc.

@@Ealdorman_of_Mercia Jarya, also called jariyah and jawaris, was a term for a certain type of slave girl in the medieval Islamic world. They were "slaves for pleasure" (muṭʿa, ladhdha) or “slave-girls for sexual intercourse” (jawārī al-waṭ), who had received special training in artistic skills. In contrast to the Qiyan, however, they normally did not perform for other men than the man in whose harem they were placed.

According to the captions in Spanish Bob Dylan was the last king of Granada.

Im glad you created this! In my opinion it doesn't fully replace the 50ish minute version that you used to have a few years ago - but This is a great summary!
Thank you! The full version will be back up in the near future!

Also I had a question related to the reconquista, wasn't there this Spanish king before Isabela and Ferdinand who rode his horse on the beach of Cadiz or Gibraltar I can't remember proclaiming that Spain would be reconquered one day.
I think I remember you recounting this in one of your videos but I can't find it, can you tell me which one it is?

Were there any plans of invading/liberating the North African coast by the Iberians during the 15-16th centuries?
