In addition to being very talented, all the band members play what fits the song. They play as a unit ,and are not out there to show off.

Ur started with Nightwish and Floor Jansen and find yourself in a rabbit hole. AS this happened to me some time ago and still happy.
You are so very right. There is something special about what happens when you take a once-in-a-lifetime composer; six genius musicians, who without concern for ego, share their place in the spotlight with love. None of them are concerned about who gets the attention, because they all do. They all smile sincerely while they are performing, because they are happy. They travel as a family, they play as a family and they accept their audience as part of that family. Why? Because they are the musical embodiment of love. Their songs are positive, their music is positive and they are positive. Wonder why you feel good after listening to their song ... even songs with dark themes like The Poet & The Pendulum? Try to find the bitching and moaning ... it doesn't exist. The Nightwish train takes you to Bettertown, and Tuomas is mayor. I'm looking to buy a home there.

Wacken(Vahken)is a small town in northern Germany. They hold this giant concert every year and bands from all over the world come to play. Alice In Chains(USA) has played there. Nightwish played to 82,000+ people on this night in 2013, the largest audience to ever attend.
This was Floor Jansen's first big concert and she was not even a member of the band. She had been asked to stand in for their previous singer who had become quite pregnant lol. After the concert she was asked to become a permanent member of the band which she accepted.
Thank you for the good music from Nightwish/Wacken 2013 near Hamburg/Germany- and 2022 is the W:O:A Wacken Open Air with 80.000 Metalfans sold out.

I am approaching 65 and was brought up on great bands like Pink Floyd and Queen etc. I discovered Nightwish last year through another reaction on TH-cam and haven't stopped listening. I have many more songs to listen to. This isn't a band, it's an experience and everyone of them is a musical star. Floor is one of the best female vocalists in the world today. The reason I love this phenomenon that is Nightwish is not just their incredible talent but they are a 'family' and it shows through their music. Look forward to you experiencing and sharing more of your journey with Nightwish.

Hi Psyche, all that you said is very true. This band sucks you in to their world, wonderworld. Tuomas has told when he is writing these songs, he has a story first in his head and then an idea what kind of movie that story might be. And finally the music comes. So no wonder why we are experiencing a journey with them. Every note is carefully thought and the best sound is found to complete tohe song. That's why Nightwish makes you smile while listening to them. Nice to see your reaction. They don't play, hoping to garner hit songs. They create sonic landscapes that take the listener on journeys into every feeling possible. 10-20 minute songs defy time from within and it just has you wanting more. Another 👌🏼 reaction.

It makes total sense - it's not just some songs, Tuomas described Nightwish as the scenery of his soul, and he has surrounded himself with people who are both fantastic musicians and have a deeply empathic understanding of what he writes. I think these things are what elevate Nightwish above the rest 🤘

Tuomas has an unspeakable ability to paint a story with incredible melodic paths.

Yes, I love Sleeping Sun but you know what. The version from 2016 at Monsters of Rock is really good, if you haven't seen or heard it. Apparently she was a little under the weather at the Tampere concert and she explained that as to why she sounded a little bit off. Its still beautiful, but if you havent seen this one (and you probly have lol) this one I REALLY like... plus it has the lyrics which is kind of nice too. :)

YESSS! I'm SO excited that you did Ever Dream. Last March I heard Nightwish for the first time, and it was this song. I also like that you appreciate all kinds of music. My favorite group of all time is the Eagles, but they're hard to find on TH-cam because of copyright issues so you might not be able to do anything from them. But in one sitting I could go from Gladys Knight to ACDC to Tanya Tucker to Madonna to Motley Crue to En Vogue to Nightwish lol

I liked NIGHTWISH before FLOOR joined them..But it wasn't Until FLOOR became the Front Singer..that I truly became a "fan.". Floor's Voice & Stage Presence are the Best I've heard----and I've heard them All!
I knew you would like that one. Didn't know the Viking Marco could belt, did ya? Any way, I enjoy you attempting to explain how you feel. It's deeper than words, you feel it inside. The integrity is the work and quest for perfection that nobody sees. We see the finished product, the work behind it is the magic. The talent of musicians that read and write music, can play multiple instruments and play them like breathing. Then there is the rare talent Floor who not only has a natural gift, but chose to hone it to a level few will know. That's Nightwish for me. If you could react to "Bless the Child, from this concert next, it is my favorite.

You are spot on about Nightwish, and how their songs take you on a journey. I love how Tuomas is so unique in his song writing...some people call him the Mozart of Metal!
I have a song sung by the first lead vocalist, Tarja, titled "Walking In The Air" ( a song from "The Snowman") It is beautifully sung and it's theme is from " The Hobbit" and "Lord Of The Rings"!! And it is very well done!

I love your insights into this band. Subscribe button pressed. Nightwish is a keg of gunpowder, Floor is the match. I don’t know if you know the circumstances of Floor joining the band or Floor’s own position at that time, but it has been said that Floor saved Nightwish and Nightwish saved Floor. Certainly the ‘phase 3 Nightwish’ comes across as a family, no one individual more important and all working together to give a performance second to none , for their own enjoyment and the audience’s enjoyment. This is actually an original Nightwish Tarja track. I’m sure you would enjoy reacting to that, different from this Floor but quite beautiful. Floor does not try to copy her predecessors’ (Tarja and Anette ) work but just owns the back catalogue with her interpretations. A lot of the joy on the Nightwish journey is listening and comparing the original versions with the Floor versions. Not necessarily to say one is ‘better’ than another, but just to enjoy the differing interpretations.
If there was a gold medal for belting high, higher and beyond highest then Floor would win it. Have a nice day
