About the description - he didn’t mean the leitmotif would be in random songs! He meant that Girl Next Door and Lost Girl would not always play in situations related to Noelle. Like how Girl Next Door plays when Kris and Susie eat the *[Moss!]* together in Cyber City. Sort of like how Memory plays in scenes unrelated to Asriel in UNDERTALE, like when Undyne is talking about Asgore.
So in Undertale, the songs related to Asriel are like how special was Asriel to the fallen child because they are refering on Asriel and its family, maybe the reason because Girl Next Door plays on that moment is because how Noelle wants to treat Susie in the same way, Kris did to her with the moss? or just showing the kindness related on Susie as a song.
@@lasagna3289 It's higher pitched and sped up. And the lenghts of pauses between each note is different from the original. I mean it technically isn't really susie's theme but sounds similar to it which makes sense conceptually
Girl Next Door mostly plays in scenes not related to Noelle, one being where you find the moss with Susie and Ralsei, and the other playing when you defeat Queen(while Noelle is also there, it plays more like a "we did it" type of song). The only scene where Girl Next Door plays specifically for Noelle is when Kris and Susie are about to enter Castle Town. Lost Girl, on the other hand, currently only plays when Noelle is the main focus of a scene. One being in her room(duh), and the other after she stood up against Queen after the GIGA Queen battle. So yeah, that's why Lost Girl is Noelle's theme.
Toby is such a genius. Seriously. Everything he does is perfect. In regards to everything he makes, he just knows exactly what he's making and does it absolutely flawlessly.
Lost Girl is my fav character theme so far tbh. The way it plays on the Susie and Noelle cutscene made me so immersed. Genuinely hope It keeps popping up in the next chapters
I would say that the credits theme (Until Next Time) might also have the beginning motif from Girl Next Door. As for Noelle.ogg, I'd theorise that Noelle's theme would change to reflect some change in her mood after the events of Chapter 2. Of course, with Snowgrave, it would definitely not go in a jollier direction as Noelle.ogg goes.
2:07 Also, this part is exactly like the end of Thrash Machine. And, considering there's a song that literally remixes Thrash Machine (Acid Tunnel of Love), and this entire melody that's a remix of Lancer's theme and has really become the Thrash Machine's theme, yet doesn't include this ending motif, I'm pretty sure this is the new Friendship motif.
@@thome581 I can see how you could attribute it to Don't Forget, but it's also different enough to be its own leitmotif imo, especially since again it copies Thrash Machine to a T.
Noelle themes are very related to Gaster musically, but not that much contextually, which could mean a connection between Noelle and Gaster in some way?
Really love this motif, probably my favorite so far. All of these songs capture the different aspects of Noelle so well. I was learning to play Girl Next Door because I thought it was a really cute and atmospheric song, which describes the fun-loving "Rudy" spirit in Noelle that struggles not to get smothered by her tragic situation. Like Rudy, though, that carefree, joking nature can't be held down forever. Comparatively to Lost Girl, it's very upbeat, free sounding, and almost ragtimey. When I played the main pitch-bending melody part (the part we all know the song for) separate from the bass and other flesh of the song, though, wow. To me, that melody on it's own is immense, pure melancholy and loneliness. About right for our selfless, lonely, terrified, walked on little girl, I guess :(
You want perfect music for falling asleep? Stitch Lost Girl and Lost Girl v2 together, then slow it down (no pitch normalization) to 85%. Thank me later :)
I noticed that the part at the end of the B leitmotif also appears at the end of thrash machine. Not sure if Noelle's theme or thrash machine came first or what the connection is but its something to think about.
Ok after hearing these back to back, I gotta say I like how the unused music sounds compared to the used ones. That being said they also feel like final, more upgraded versions of the used ones so it feels like they would appear later in the story.
i had a dream a month ago that you made this video but it had 2 songs, and the second one was from a movie where someone started singing it and the rest called him a donkey because they didn't want to get sued
Hey MediaMotifs, I just wanted to point out a part in BIG SHOT in which you mentioned in a video is not a leitmotif, it isn't precisely, it's just the King's laugh sped up and pitched a little bit, I hope you know which part I am referring to ;)
Gosh, I have to comment just one more thing, sorry. I just really love these songs. Ferris Wheel is the only one of these that sounds actually happy to me, now that I think of it. She was carefree for once, all the worries of her life melted away for a second, and she could just be pure Noelle. Girl Next Door sounds like it's trying really hard to seem happy, but is really well, lost. Confused. Lost Girl just sounds totally desolate. Like she's just given up. It is very sad. Part of me is upset that Noelle was singled out for the abuse route, but it makes sense, because she's easy prey. I just want to her to feel happy and loved by the end, free from pain, and free from being under someone's thumb.
Noelle.ogg is such a rambunctious version of the song, and if December is how I imagine her as a character- a very rambunctious and playful person, it would fun for Noelle.Ogg to become a song for December.
One thing I find interesting is that the A section in Lost Girl is actually the same rhythm and chord progression as the "Neo/Battle Against A True Hero" leitmotif.
I knew you'd mention noelle.ogg! Honestly every variation of these themes are just great to listen to, Toby really did make the song feel like about the neighbour next door, great job on these videos as always!

Wow kirby just wow
Oh woww it's so amazing how susie's theme was in lost girl v2. I wish toby kept it in the released version
