Watching Sir David here reminds me of that one scene in what seems like every 50s sci fi movie, where the scientist tries to warn the authorities about the triffids or saucer people, and they just brush him off. A bit later on, triffids are eating New York.

I will give the first person who can cite any place, any local council on earth, which will have to spend more than it will spend on traffic lights in countering, sorting out, any single bad thing from a slightly warmer world. Building increased sea defenses or whatever.
You will have to explain what the mechanism of this bad thing will be, cite some science to explin the mechanism, a paper or some such, so we can see how much of will happen.
I will exclude only the effect of permfrost melting and foundations in it giving way. But if you live in a plce with permfrost not having permefrost is a good thing surely.

I am a high school Biology teacher and David Attenborough is my hero. I think of anyone in history I would want to have had his life most of all. Not an athlete, or a rock star, or even a spiritual guru. His love of animals and nature was facilitated by the greatest nature film making career of all time. He MUST be listened to and loved for what he has done for all of us.
When David Attenborough says there's problem, now I am officially scared.
I'm not minimizing anyone else's achievements with raising awareness for climate change, I'm applauding Sir Attenborough for saying what need's to be said. If all celebrities came out and took a firm stance on climate change, then perhaps we would actually get the message across.

We must start focusing of the survival of the human race. We have adapted before, but this time man in general has no preparations what so ever, to face a global crisis. May I suggest you read the book 'The uninhabitable earth' by David Wallace Wells. One of the issues discussed in this book is that climate change is not something that is going to 'change the weather' for the next decades. No, it will alter the climate of planet earth for the next millenia.

I just remembered today that Sir David Attenborough is 93 years old and will be with us only for maybe another decade or so. I'd written I guess you'd cal it fan mail giving thanks to David for his incredible contribution to teaching the general public about Natural History, in particular with his 'Life' series - Life on Earth, Trials of Life, and Living Planet. 3 days after meeting him, he kindly wrote me a hand written letter thanking me for my appreciation of his work. That shows you what an absolutely genuinely kind gentleman he really is. At 94 years of age, he's still working and encouraging us to look after our planet Earth. I tip my hat to you sir, your a gentleman, a scholar, and a national treasure.

The world leaders have been aware about this problem for decades, yet we continue cutting the ground away, beneath our own feet, and at an exponential rate. Humans are in a race to the bottom of the abyss. I think it's obvious that our world leaders aren't going to save us.

These books were written in the 50s. Once again, how prophetic!

Cars, ships, planes, trains, houses, construction equipment, 18 wheelers, even the process of creating bags for products on the shelves pollutes.
Oreos, Lays, Pepsi or Coke, ramen, all canned goods. I could spend all day listing things that would have to go to save the world. It'll never happen.

I grew up watching tons of David’s documentaries. I loved watching them after school and during the slow summer holidays. He’s always been an inspiration to me to where I’m currently pursuing biology in hopes I can someday do the work he does daily. Although it’s likely I never will, I’d love to meet him and thank him for all the work he does in trying to get people to really see how beautiful this world is and how we’re destroying it. Stephen Hawking warned us about our future of climate change and now David has. Two brilliant minds speaking of the distraction only we seem to see, I hope by the time I could be something of a zoologist or anything of that sort, I will still have a beautiful world to study and discover just as he does.
