      @@stephenbrown5844 With respect, I beg to differ with 'supposed to be on our side'. All Police Authorities in the United Kingdom would welcome the total prohibition of firearms within the public realm, with possession only allowed for members of the military and law enforcement. All UK political parties are secretly 'anti-gun' but they know that an outright ban is not feasible, so the intention is to do it by stealth over time.

    The police and the government have always had a knee jerk reaction to any incidents with firearms without the slightest consideration for those it will affect .
    Like most countries the vast majority of crimes are with illegal weapons but its far simpler and easier to hit the law abiding citizens, just the same as vehicles.

    • @StudioComposer

      @dsldarklordspaniard6672 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@samsativa245 Why do you need a car that goes 150 mph when the speed limit is 70 mph?
      It's not that anyone NEEDS a semi automatic for hunting, but why shouldn't it be allowed? Especially when almost every state in the union has magazine restrictions of 5 rounds for semi auto rifles and (and 3 rounds for shotguns) for hunting.
      you get 1 shot, and then your opportunity is over... The push to use semi-autos in the field is not for a lack of accuracy, or a need to 'spray and pray', it is to stop the government from further infringing on our rights under the auspices of "well you don't need that for hunting, so nobody should buy it!" (when the 2nd amendment says nothing about hunting). The DNR in almost every state (if not all) have magazine limits for hunting, so even if you wanted to use a 60 round magazine for deer hunting you would face criminal charges if caught.
      The AR15 is the most common rifle sold in the US, and it is perfectly adequate for home defense, pest control, sport shooting, and deer hunting. What reason should these kinds of rifles not be used? I'm curious to hear your case...

      @@dsldarklordspaniard6672 I don't need a car that goes 150mph though? I don't need a car that has an engine that's too big for it to be efficient when constantly going 30mph like Audis, VWs, BMWs etc. I don't need them at all.
      For the record, if you got caught driving at 150mph you'd be arrested for dangerous driving, rightly so.
      So i'm failing to actually see your point or case here.
      Here's one for you, the UK has a homicide rate 5x lower per capita. That means I'm 5x less likely to be murdered by my fellow citizen than you are. It's probably because people don't own Assault Rifles, so nobody needs Assault Rifles to protect themselves against other people with Assault Rifles. It's probably because there hasn't been one single school shooting take place in this Century in the UK... Yet i can still own Automatic Weapons legally if i wanted to?

    In line with many of the comments here, we too in NSW Australia are governed by a firearms registry that appears to be overloaded, outdated, and unable to perform its duties in a reasonable amount of time.
    Even the time guidelines given to the law abiding licensed firearms owners such as I used to be until they seized all mine because they couldn’t process the requested and sent paperwork I provided well before required time periods requested. Naturally my Lic expired and with no communication at all, two police officers arrived on a Sunday and seized all my firearms, scope’s (even unattached ones), and all my ammunition. Some firearms in my collection are family antiques inc a WW Greener made in 1896 in England.
    Now it’s tossed among all the seized arms in my area. As are all my hunting rifles that will at the very least need a zero or re-zero to hunt ethically. Oh! All damage received in the Police’s care is non compensated too.

    When someone is killed by a driver does the government restrict the rights of every driver? No because it would be irrational, and amounts to collective punishment, so why does this happen to gun owners every time? Collective punishment is a punishment on a group for acts allegedly perpetrated by a member of that group. Before Police has a right to obstruct or refuse your licence without giving you any reason but that right has been taken away of them. Thanks God. This days you are bringing all paper work to the local Police Station and they are giving you your licence. It takes few months and costs around £400.

If certificates came with an admin fee that truly covered the costs of running that service they would be very expensive. People have a hissy fit whenever something like this goes up in price. If the price was the set to cover the complete cost then loads of people who shoot would probably give up shooting.

I own a bolt action AR and as retired milltary myself I feel much more comfortable with that platform at night (go figure...). The vast majority of centerfire rifles in the UK are conventional bolt action which outwardly appear less 'aggressive'. @Mr Mega Bang Bang ! Okay, you are obviously unaware of how this works....
      1, If you have a problem with how the police are working then write to the professional standards unit at your police force.
      2, "the police are NOT abiding by the law" I suspect that is very unlikely. It is quite likely that you don't know the detail of the law or understand how it is applied though.... So, unless you have some proof that they are breaking the law you just look a bit silly making statements like this.
      3, The police are accountable. If you think they are doing something wrong write to the professional standards unit to make a complaint. You can escalate that complaint to your MP, the local Police and Crime Commissioner or the Home Secretary. You can even take the police to court if you want. Basically, there are plenty of ways to hold them to account. A kangaroo court in the media or social media comments pages isn't really the way to do it.
      4, Appealing the revocation of a firearms certificate is free. It doesn't cost anything. You may say that you have no chance of winning if you represent yourself but that isn't really true. Most of these appeals do fail but they fail for one simle reason - the court agrees that the person is not suitable to possess firearms.

    • @davidwebb2318

And to make matters worse you have to deal with fees, renewals, and massive restrictions on the gun's features. Plus there's never a guarantee that you'll get approval since the government can just make up a reason to refuse.
    This video is just depressing to listen to. In the states it's not unusual to buy a gun at a neighbor's yard sale. In fact in half the country you don't even need a permit to concealed carry.

      @Pete graham Liberty. The more dependent people are on the government the less freedom they have.
      And guns are essentially power. When you have an armed populace they have leverage. There is an unspoken negotiation that takes place between the government and its people. Government always tries to expand and maintain its power. An armed populace puts restrains on the government. It's difficult to tyrannize people who can resist. The more reliant on the government the people are the harder it is for them to resist. If you have a gun then you are not as reliant on the government to protect your own life.
      The more power and independence you can give to the people and take away from the government the better. Generally speaking anyways.

    Nigel Appleton (@3:10) is simply incorrect. When the police revoke a firearm certificate the person in question knows EXACTLY why this has happened. Appleton says that the police are "confusing complaint with evidence". Okay Appleton, show us YOUR evidence that this is true. Or are you assuming you know? Unless you have access to the Police systems for recording this kind of thing you cannot possibly know. He also makes the assumption that it costs a lot of money to appeal a firearms certificate revocation. Actually, it is free.
    This series of videos is now becoming a bit of a joke, it is just hyperbole trying to extract an emotional response and attract attention for the channel. The comments here show that this channel is now just a magnet for people with an anti-authority attitude. These people are not representative of the hundreds of thousands of certificate holders in the UK and associating with this part of the shooting community will do this channel no good.

    • @davidwebb2318
      @davidwebb2318 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @William Tell It is free. You don't have to have to be represented by anyone. Most appellants lose these cases simply because the court agrees with the police decision not because of who represents them.
      Costs are not awarded against the appellant in these cases so people that appeal do not get "landed with costs" if they lose. You are worrying about things that cannot happen.
      If you think firearm certificate revocations should be handled a different way I suggest you write to your MP. Changing this would mean rewriting all the firearms acts and it is very unlikely many MPs will support that.
      If you tell them you want an easier process for people who have had firearms certificates revoked to get them back then I can guarantee you won't get the support of any sensible MP.

They have obviously looked at your past and your discussions with the firearms licensing staff and decided you aren't suitable. You disagree, that is fine but there obviously is a reason. The fact that you cannot understand the reason doesn't mean they are wrong.

    Although there are problems, I must say that Hampshire has been excellent and exceptional in their support to licence holders and although there have been delays, they have been brilliant in maintaining communication and provided routine updates. The bigger problem as always is with the wide range of costs involved in GP medical reviews / certificates and this arguably needs more attention than the inevitable delays as a result of the pandemic which all industries are facing be they private firms, NHS / social care etc. The impact on staff and human resources and vicariously, the wider impact has been felt across all service industries be that diversion of resources to areas of priority or staff being unwell and not able to attend work. I can't comment on other areas and remain grateful that locally, we have a good service....just need to sort out the medical report problems where costs range from free to over £150 in some cases..!
