  • I try the Vanquish 540 with the tiny V8 coil for the first time and get surprising results from ground that I have absolutely hammered before with my Equinox. #Vanquish540 #V8Coil #Minelab #CoinandRelicHunting #MetalDetecting

    Hello from across the Pond.. I really like that v8 coil. I use it a lot in playgrounds and sports fields the 540 is an amazing little detector. congrats on your silvers..

      Cheers. Yes that little coil is certainly a great option to have. I've since bought a 6" coil for the Equinox as well. Both these little coils are beasts for getting amongst the rubbish targets.

      That's awesome. You'll have lots of fun with that. Yes, it's easy to catch the bug...but it's a good one to catch. Happy hunting. When things settle down again I hope to travel down to my grassroots areas in NSW...so who knows. Cheers.

    Nice job, nice finds. I'm leaning toward the 540 over the Nox600. Any thought's or will you simply let the video do the talking? Thank you.

      Hi Rob, Mike S above asked a similar question. He is thinking about the Equinox 800. I have the 600 and love it. The equinox is totally waterproof and submersible if you are thinking about detecting in the water. Only the coil of the Vanquish is waterproof. Having said that, I have been using the Vanquish a lot lately because I also have the small V8 coil for it and I've been very successful. My conclusion is if you can't afford the Equinox and can't wait to save extra money to buy it and want to get into detecting right now with a good machine....then the Vanquish 540 is perfectly fine. I would go the pro pack to get the wireless headphones and the bonus small V8 coil. That small coil is a dream. I am seriously thinking of paying a $200 to get a small coil for my Equinox purely because of the great success and experience I've been having with the small V8 coil on the Vanquish. Both are great machines...just depends on what you want to do I guess. Hope that helps.

      @@maverickq_aussie Thank you so much for the reply. I am aware the Nox600/800 has/have all the goodies and then some. But I'm looking for a "turn on and go". I really don't want a 30 minute refresher course each time I'm out in the field with a machine. And from that standpoint and that alone, would you recommend the 540? Also, is the Nox600 a complicated beast? Thank you again for your time.

      @@wonka2112 Then the 540 is a perfect choice. Go for it.

    Some good finds we just got the Vanquish 540 a couple of weeks ago. We are still trying to figure out what we need to put the settings on.

      It's a great machine. I just started off on the basic settings and hunt in the coin mode. It seems to do the job. It does really well in ionised ground and where my other machine suffers from interference, the Vanquish is stable and quiet as a mouse. I hope you have lots of fun and find some great stuff. 👍😁

    Maverick what is the brand of the little shovel you are using?

    • @maverickq_aussie
      @maverickq_aussie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a cheap Saxon brand compact shovel from Bunnings warehouse (Australia). Nice small shovel face/head on it. I also noticed that Bunnings have recently introduced a long handle version with the same small face/head. I'll be getting one those too. But the small compact one is easy to carry around and doesn't standout to people who may be watching you when detecting parklands and footpaths. I have smaller digging tools too, but the little shovel just creates a better clean plug.

    I may have missed it what settings/mode did you use. Did you use discrimination settings

    • @maverickq_aussie
      @maverickq_aussie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just use the Vanquish on the money/coin setting (06:21) with nothing else done. I use this when coin shooting and it seems to do the job quite fine.

    What is the advantage of using a small coil on an open field? Surely a bigger coil will cover more ground.

    • @maverickq_aussie
      @maverickq_aussie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Peter, I would bring the small coil out after doing the field with the larger coil. I would use the small coil to target those trashy areas where a got multiple signals so I can get in between them and distinguish whether any of them are worth digging. Small coil definitely takes more time so only target specific areas I want to look at again. It's a whizz for finding small coins such as threepences that might be sitting on their side and missed by the larger coil.

    What are your settings for this

    • @maverickq_aussie
      @maverickq_aussie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the Vanquish, I basically have it on the factory settings as if it was straight out of the box. I use the coin mode and turn the sensitivity down about 2 notches. That's about it. I don't have to do much at all with it, which is why I love it. mind you, I am usually coin shooting with it, so that what suits me for that. 👍

  • @ArcanZA
    @ArcanZA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You are losing gold mate by cutting off the low signals. What about using jewellery mode for more sensitivity ?

      Some people give me flac about my little shovel but it comes in really handy for digging nice clean plugs in parkland grounds...leaves practically no sign. It's a cheap Saxon brand compact shovel from Bunnings warehouse (Aust). Nice small shovel face/head on it. I also noticed that they have recently brought in a long handle version with the same small face/head. I'll be getting one. But the small compact one is easy to carry around and doesn't look as enormous to onlookers who might get concerned. I have small digging tools too, but the little shove just creates a better clean plug.
