The Caprice and Caprice Classic became an icon of American culture during the 1980s. I think GM should bring that beautiful box back.

Wave bye bye to all that cool stuff. Gm is worldwide now. Expect alot of imitation smrt cars and prius like vehicles. Corvette is still around, for 80k....

GM, as a whole, NAILED it with these cars!!!!!! The brochures for the '77 Caprice/Impala & Delta 88, in particular, stated "We made it right for the times without making it wrong for the people", & "The family car that didn't forget the family", respectively. Both were bang-on!!!!!

Are we allowed to watch this? It starts with a notice saying - For Chevrolet Sales Persons Only 😉 On a serious note, I was really surprised to see as far back as 1980 they were recommending 35 PSI for the tires.

I once had an 86 Caprice Classic that just looked like that Impala with a replacement L69 305 V8. That was a FUN car.

Notice that the front seatbelts and automatic transmission in this 1980 Caprice is different that the one in the Caprices that were available for that year.

Cool ! I am hoping GM brings these two models back into production in the near future. I hope full-sized RWD/AWD sedans and wagons make a comeback even as a hybrid version .

Don't get me wrong, this is one of my favorite American cars of all time, but I still have to laugh when he points out all the 'aerodynamic' features while the car is literally composed of a series of perfect squares and rectangles....LOL

Aerodynamic lol. It's a box, a big square box. Yet these cars are great. They are well built, and are still around 40+ years later.

The Iranian Revolution in Spring 1979 caused gasoline prices to soar for a second time in the 1970s. Add high inflation and high interest rates...and the big American cars were no longer the most popular vehicles. Baby boomers who were now buying new cars around 1980 weren't interested in full-size cars...but smaller mid-size cars were more popular than ever. Starting in 1980, new full-size cars were aimed at older couples and were no longer popular with younger families. The 1980 Chevrolet may have gotten a new look...but sales slid compared to the 1979 model year.
