This is the first time I have tried Somatic Yoga. After a really intense nightmare, I was feeling anxious and bottled up. This practice was gentle, peaceful (and allowed me to shed a few tears), releasing my pent up emotions. I look forward to exploring the other Somatic Yoga routines. Your voice is soft, gentle and soothing, allowing me to feel my way though the experiences without discord. Thank you so much. I’ve already subscribed, and plan to make these videos part of my daily practice.

I hope that you have an amazing rest of your day, and take care 🙏
I found these exercises super helpful. Especially after returning to the classroom after March Break. I know you can relate! I also love how this aligns with the research and work of health psychology. I often share with students that psychology is more PHYSICAL and somatic than it is mental. Movement is everything! Thank you for sharing this video and all the tips. Your work changes people Rachel. Grateful for you. xo
Hi Andrea! It is so nice to hear from you! Welcome back to the classroom 🤗 I hope that you had a lovely March Break! Yes, these practices very much align with psychology as we are exploring not only the physical, but also the mental and emotional aspects of being. The mental and emotional (conscious or unconscious) typically influences the physical body in some way. The mind-body connection is quite fascinating! Somatic movement is so interesting as it invites you to explore movement within, as opposed to worrying about the external (or the shape). It's about exploring what feels good in your body as you get to know yourself on a deeper, more intimate level. I so appreciate your kind words! I am grateful for you too 🥰 Take good care, and enjoy the rest of your day! 🙏💕
Hi Tristan! You are so welcome 🤗 Yes, the hand tapping exercise can be very calming as it invites you to focus on the sensation of each tap. The muscle tightening and release exercise is a variation of the progressive muscle relaxation technique. I find this technique useful as it can help melt away any remaining tension from the body, which is such a lovely way to end the practice. Thank you so much for being here, and for sharing which exercises felt best in your body! Take care 🤗🙏
Hi Adrian! You are so welcome 🤗 I'm so happy to hear that you loved this practice! I appreciate you being here. Take care, and enjoy the rest of your day 🙏
I started crying around min 5, I haven’t felt so present in my body other than during sex. I have felt so distant from my own body for so long. Whenever I’m alone my body/mind completely enters anxiety territory. Thank you so much ❤
Hi Perla 🤗 Thank you so much for sharing how this class felt in your body. I am so happy to hear that it helped you feel present in your body. Somatic practices have that beautiful way of helping us connect or reconnect back to the body in a loving, compassionate and nurturing way. I appreciate you being here 💙 Take care, and enjoy the rest of your day! 💕🤗

Thanks! The seated pose cross hands tapping opposite upper arms gave me more calm. I also like the laying down tighten muscles and release.
