I love how you overcame the full screen limitations of the Quest 2 without sacrificing quality. Your 3 window technique leaves room for your face cam and the game box art so non English speakers will always know what your playing. It's a great way to not have to jailbreak your Quest 2 before each recording and I think it's absolutely brilliant 😎 I hope you see this. Game on good Sir 🙂👍

@@LeaGibson1 you don't have to jailbreak your quest for that. You just have to use side quest and put ur quest into debug mode. You also have to make a developer account. It's super easy to do just follow a TH-cam tutorial
Been playing for about an hour now and it’s fantastic. Really get more feeling of speed with this game and the graphics are really nice!!!
The feeling of speed really took me by surprise, you settle into it quite quickly but that initial take off and flight is pretty intense

Very cool. Excited to see how this dev keeps going. Clearly they like to make flight games, the improvements from the first to the second are pretty big, wonder if they might tackle jets next.. Like the Korean war or something.. Mig 15 vs F-86Sabre in Mig Alley, that would hit the spot. Still not technologically advanced yet to be hard to understand, but extremely fast and cool.

Haha I'd make a great parent, "have a great day at school, don't kill anyone" 😅 yeah the visual upgrade is pretty darn noticeable, gameplay wise it's very similar which isn't a bad thing at all, just more of the same cinematic & intense dogfights

Thank you my friend ❤️ yeah the visual upgrade is definitely what I noticed the most here, the gameplay itself is almost identical to the first (not a bad thing at all). I love how vibrant the menu was as well with the flag waving in the wind, lots of nice visual touches here

Yeah biplanes are kinda shittty
It definitely plays very similar to the first one so just be aware of that, the upgrade from paper-thin bi planes is nice but mechanically the gameplay is almost identical
a hint i got while playing online in the first is to not get armor. it makes the other updates useless. having a fully upgraded plane with armor is just the same specs as starter with more armor. if you leave the armor out its a lot faster and nimble.

@@baconhead07boi93 useless is not the right word. But armor adds weight thus reducing all other specs related to mobility. To get back to base spec but with upgraded armor you need all the mobility updates. If you do not upgrade armor the plane gets faster and more mobile than base spec but is less durable.

Just got the app. It's pretty cool, but the elevator is incorrect. The dev has it so when you pull back, the elevator goes down. Supposed to work the other way round. At least the plane behaves as it should, when you do that. I had a lot of fun, doing touch and goes on the carrier, and flying over to the air base, and doing the same over there. Just don't put the gear up, or you'll go into the mission. :)
Ah thats something I didn't realise you could do, so the moment the landing gear goes up you head to the mission but until you do that you can just fly around as much as you like 🤔

The first game was awesome! I got it when I was brand new to vr and almost vomited. I put it aside and I can play it now. I just can’t make really fast turns lol! The second game looks great too! Great video Ben!

WooHoo!!!! Just made enough points to purchase the F4U!!! Thanx for the vid!!! I have over 100 hours in the WWI version. Warplanes is an extremely fun to play flight sim. For the best WWI flight sim is IL-2 Flying Circus in VR. I have over 100 hours in that too. The Warplanes series is just too fun not to have. & you can use your hand controllers & sit comfortably any way you like. Thanx for the vid again.

Played the first game and found it awkward to steer and fire with the gun at the front. This seems a lot easier now to control and looks like a very cool experience. Will wait for the steam version tho.

You didn`t need to touch the gun in the first version. You could fire fine without actually grabbing the gun.
Cool video. You can swap planes and seats in the original one too. On the bombing missions you throw the bombs over the side , become the gunner or the pilot. All done on the left joypad buttons
I'm happy to say that you can indeed use a flight stick on the Quest version, I bought a Thrustmaster T16000 just for this game. It's plug & play, just use a USB C-adapter, it works alongside the Touch controllers and you can even configure controls and sensitivity. Trust me when I say this is the way to play this game! Also works with Warplanes WW1 and End Space.
I played the game for about a whole 30 seconds before needing to throw up
Its a pretty intense one, you need some fairly strong VR legs to handle the sensations
Hope they keep the Warplane series like this, simple and lots of fun. Hotas works fine (T.Flight Hotas X), both games and modes (PCVR and standalone)
The first one had a five plane limit to take into missions! The higher rank of crew, the better the wingmen are with the plane when your not flying them! Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the new one!

There's a link in my description, App Lab games don't show up when you search them on the Quest store, its a very dumb search choice to hide them

Here is a trick: Use a cheap monopod from Amazon as a control stick. The base of the monopod will be your anchor on the floor and just grip the quest controller while holding the end of the monopod where your hand holds the control stick in the game. You won't get lost moving your hand around randomly in front of your body aimlessly like you are doing. I think it helps with motion sickness as well.
It's pretty fun and looks fantastic. It is definitely a steeper skill curve than WWI. You're given a broken-down VW bus to fly against X-wings and TIE fighters.
I did have a lot of fun with the first War Planes! Looking forward to this one, too. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah they're great fun, as I said in this video there's not much separating the first game and this one, it's essentially more of the same with some shinier visuals. I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it

You could do the plane switch on warplanes ww1. You can have up to 5 in a squadron at any time and flip between them. It makes sense they carried this feature over
Great review. I like the setup with the screen with your view, and also the video of your own motions. Very effective to help me as someone coming into this completely cold, ie. no games PC, no Quest.
I'm sold! Gotta get a top-end games laptop, a Quest, and the Warplanes VR. So glad you mentioned the WWI edition - I'll start there. It'll be a dream come true, after many attempts since 1985 (Microst Flight Sim 2), which always ended in frustration.
Great video and looks amazing! What was it like using the Quest 2 hand controllers for it? Watching the video, it looked like it might feel better with a gamepad and even better with HOTAS, but I'm guessing there's no PC port or support for that so far?
I haven't played this new Warplanes game yet, but their previous WW1 one allowed you to use the joysticks on the Touch controllers to fly the plane if ya didn't wanna grab the virtual stick with the motion controllers. Personally, I preferred the precision of using the joysticks on a controller since you got that inherent feedback of a physical object.
With WW1 Warplanes, Ultrawings 2, and No Man's Sky, I've not enjoyed any virtual hotas-type controls, but I've heard VTOL's virtual stick works well.
Yeah you can use the joysticks on the Quest controllers if you don't want to use the virtual flight controls, the Steam version launched yesterday as well which might have HOTAS support but I'm not 100% sure 🤔

Simply loving your reviews, you're my go to channel now, format is second to none. This looks amazing, but not sure my stomach could handle it, I tend to stick with standing games with my ceiling fan on full chat! That landing on aircraft carrier was legendary 😎✌
But where are the F-14, F-18 or Raptor F-22s,...like in Microsoft SImulator. I was not at all impressed with my QUEST 2 for aircraft stuff.Most of them are just rubbish ! SO now, do I have buy a PC game, and then my QUEST to my computer ?

Since I saw the Ta152 in the ww2 android version, I really prefer that port over this one, but the pacific battle was really neat, can't wait to play it

You could have your other planes join you in the WW1 version - that's what the 'crew' rating is for. Really enjoyed the WW1 game so will definitely be getting this once it's out on Steam.

hi so good. But i think Zombie World Z is good too, metaverse +nft. Dev working hard release many event Hunt boss, Chat activity,... I really can back investment just 20 days. I also attracting by their metaverse and gameplay.
TBH ALL VR games are pretty trash! Dont take one persons word that any given game is "Good" or "Just Works" or "Is Worth It"

This is going in my wishlist ASAP! I loved Aces of the Pacific back in the 90s so this is a no brainer. WWI Fighters is awesome so this should be too.

I'm totally with you. I wish they had an option to actually just fly to the mission, extending the campaign levels a bit. I only have the first one so far, but I'm loving it, and I think it'd be way more interesting if the campaign had a real story and long missions.
But for a game that is basically an extension of a movie game, the knocked this out of the park.

How do I replay a mission I've done before? The mission board only shows three options at a time and not the ones I would like to play.

watched your video on ultrawings 2, much more impressed with the graphics with this game, is there anything you would comment about the flying experience between the two?
Warplanes feels much faster but also quite a bit more arcadey, Ultrawings does have a cartoony aesthetic but manages to create a more simulation style experience by allowing you to go through the entire process of taking off, flying to your mission, completing said mission (or just flying around for a laugh) and then landing the aircraft. Warplanes focus is almost entirely on the dog fights, it doesn't have the open world feeling of Ultrawings but the flying feels fast, responsive and fun. I think if you just want to blast other planes and enemies vehicles in a VR game that LOOKS good then grab one of the Warplanes games but if you want something close to a flight sim on Quest then Ultrawings is the game (despite not coming close to a proper flight sim like MS Flight Sim)

Hey pal I’m not the guy your askin but originally I bought a psvr because I had a PlayStation and enjoyed it very much but eventually I became bored with it as I ran out of things to play. So I purchased a quest 2 and enjoyed it as I had a new library of games to jump into but was somewhat disappointed with the graphics. On the other hand the controllers and the tracking were far better. Then I spent my tax return on a pc and still use the quest 2 to play the much improved graphics of pcvr as well as the much bigger library. So quest 2 for long term fairly cheap entry I would suggest. Hope this helps ya.

Too bad the gauges are very modern looking, civilian plane types, instead of historic military.
I note that you have a pretty consistent habit of leaning to the right, which puts the sight's reticle at the far right of the reflector plate. ;)
That carrier must be at least 2X larger than normal, gauging by how long it takes to traverse its length while taking off and landing. This makes carrier landing immensely easier than it would otherwise be.
In spite of my griping, this looks to be an amazing game for the less hard-core set, and indeed even a relaxing diversion for the more committed simmer. It has the qualities to be a gateway to inspiring a deeper interest that could lead to exploring more realistic air combat sims.
Your presentation is enhanced by your evident intelligence and clear diction. And of course your enthusiasm!
