VR Use Other Than Gaming - In today's video I share 10 ideas that you can have fun with on a virtual reality headset, the particular one I am using is Oculus Quest 2. VR headsets are not just for gaming, gaming is only one good use we get out of VR headsets. See description below for details.

#10 The ideas behind VR are unlimited. Imagine being an artist or a level designer who uses the environment and architecture as inspiration. You can literally warp yourself anywhere in the world and get a first person look at anything you want. This is insane.

I would look at learn tai chi because it follows your moves so you can learn it properly. There is also a passthrough piano program so you can add your keyboard to the vr and it will run markers down to the keys allowing you to learn how to play songs without learning music. for people who are unfit i would look at climb 2 or beat saber as they are more fun than gym app plus climb 2 can be played seated which is good for people with health issues

I bought Oculus Quest 2 as a development after Oculus GO to watch videos and photos in VR360 and VR180 3D formats (I or my friends shoot them themselves). The image resolution should be better on the new glasses screen. This is true. But I came across the fact that Quest 2 lacks the Oculus Gallery application (which is in GO) and therefore you can watch the video only by loading the glasses into the memory (I usually use an external media server). An external Skybox program has circumvented this limitation, but it is only for video and does not work for photos. Do you use Quest 2 for this view and what programs do you use?
Isn’t DeoVR available on the Quest 2? I use that on my Go to watch 3D photos.

I said the same thing when I was buying one for my 11 yr old son who games nonstop. I ended up buying two thinking maybe we can spend time together since that’s what he likes to do. I came to TH-cam to find out what I would like. If anyone as any great suggestions plz lmk. I like puzzles or fun games as I’m 45. Lol. I am excited for the exercising as I work from home and a lot. I can’t wait to see the world from what I saw on this video. The meditation is so much my kind of style. I was wondering if there was diff ways to visit storms cuz I love thunderstorms. Or the beaches all around the globe because I really think I’m a mermaid. Lol. Or just games to have fun. Tks to anyone who can answer n happy vr’ing.

I have a laptop that wasn't intended for gaming. Can I use the oculus quest 2 for Google earth, either with the cable or airlink?
You don’t need a laptop at all to use the Oculus Quest 2 actually :) I’m not big on Google Earth, but you can do anything you do on a computer on the Oculus Quest 2, I have been able to anyway! I hope this helps 😊

Yeah, I like it real. However rdr2 took me back . Its let me know I wish we road horses with heating blanket. Sims is like live barbie dolls. Lol, I don't think I'd like the augmented glasses. Is for the very fact you stated for the VR

You can probably do them on Quest, it’s a standalone device just like the Quest 2, and they share a lot of features.
Is there a set camera at said concert? Or you just teliport there???

Haha I hear ya! Orrr you can supplement your reality with virtual reality 😉 But this is great for COVID times, it’s how I used to hangout with some friends during the peak of COVID restrictions.
I like the idea of Wikipedia integration in Wander, but overall I think Google Earth VR is a MUCH more rich experience for traveling around the globe.

There’s also a good variety of apps for it, and games if you end up deciding to casually play games. I hope this helps! VR is awesome 😆

I am interested in vr and the ones that I have viewed on Amazon are under the $100 range and require my cell phone to operate. I have seen no mention of a phone requirement on the TH-cam vids. I'm lost. Can someone tell me what's up and give me beginner tips before I make a purchase?
VR newcomer here. I found the video very informative. I am retired now and live on a fixed income. I want to do more world traveling, but my budget does not allow this.
I am Hoping VR might make my travel dreams a reality. I want to keep the cost down, as reasonably possible, and still have a great experience.

@Sanabria one thing you can do is search “tourist destinations in Greece” for example, then visit those places in the Wander app.
However, my personal opinion is more in-line with Waleed’s. There are quite a few people I know who started travelling after the age of 60. They make it work somehow... You don’t have to stay in fancy hotels, resorts, or eat in fine dining restaurants. I know all of this sounds nice, but I can tell you from personal experience that my best travel memories come from when I visited rundown places and ate street food! Google cheap travel practices, and how to travel on a budget, there are endless blogs out there :) I hope this helps!

Look into housesitting. This is where you are allowed to stay in someone's home possibly to care for animals sometimes not in exchange for free accommodations. Some clients will pay you but most do not because it's considered a fair exchange. Check out the website trusted house sitters. They have house sitting jobs all over the world. All you have to do is get there. I'm not sure what country you are in but if you're in the United States check out house sitters of america. I got my first house sitting job in Oakland California for a week. All I had to do is care for one cat and I got a free place to stay and the owner paid for half of my car rental. Good luck

All this is great but will we ever see a presentation where you get the sensation of somehow looking behind you as if you were totally submerged into the scene now?. What sort of setup would that take? Surround sound and surround vision. Don't forget above and below. Could that be called total submersion? Maybe more real than real! Maybe we are in that already experiencing our lives now. Maybe we are somewhere else experiencing this life now. Maybe we are all just dreamers dreaming what we are doing now.

Hi: I’m interested but I have injuries and can’t do a lot of injuries including back and left knee. I am 100 pounds overweight. Considering WLS.
Newbie here. I just don't understand how all this works. Does it have to be hooked up to wi-fi? Or do you just download an app from your computer and you're good to go? I read that you can work out with instructors live or did I dream that? I want to buy this because it looks really interesting. I'm almost 60 now and really need something to do. I would love to use it to be able to explore places around the world and work out. I hate to work out and I'm thinking this might help me get in shape. I saw an $18.99 membership on the Oculus website. Do you have to pay that to be able to buy the apps? I just need some advice on how to get started. Google is not helping me with this today! How do you go about dating and meeting people on this thing? Do you have to use your computer integrated? I wish somebody would teach a class! I'm about to buy this thing for my own Christmas present!!
No problem Lisa, thank you for stopping by! This is a stand alone virtual reality headset, meaning you don’t have to connect it to your computer, the computer part is already in the headset. When you buy it, you turn it on by clicking on a tiny button on the right the side of the headset. Make sure you’re in a spacious place before you place it over your head, because it will ask you to set up a safety border around you. This is easily done by pointing one of your pointers to the floor, pressing the trigger button and moving your arm. Kind of like if you were drawing a circle around yourself with a piece of chalk. You just follow instructions on the screen pretty much, which are really simple to follow and you’ll have it set up in no time. Regarding working out, I would say most games that require activity on this thing are a workout 😅 You just get so into it, you start moving fast, and start sweating! But there are apps specifically for working out, your instructor would probably have to have a headset of their own in order to be able to workout with you in VR. As far as dating goes, I’m not really sure, I haven’t used this headset for dating. I was just saying that you could go on dates together if you both have a headset. Like if you have a headset, and your date has a headset, you could both go to a place together, hold hands, etc. I hope this helps Lisa 😊 If I answered your questions, please don’t forget to subscribe to my channel to see more VR content in the future.

I would suggest Oculus Quest 2 Kay... it’s a stand alone system, everything you need is embedded in the headset!

no even mention learn to play drum, piano (mix reality in quest 2) , guitar chords with a vr guitar, learn tenis, learn another language in vrchat and other apps, and learn human anatomy.

Hi Pat! Those are all great activities that I missed unfortunately. I will be taking my channel in another direction pretty soon, but I would have definitely made a separate VR activity video to cover what you mentioned… There’s a lot of other things you can do in VR, aside from what I mentioned in my video. I just wasn’t familiar with them, and they weren’t as big 1.5-2 years ago. VR is moving really fast now, it’s picked up heck of a momentum over the last 2-3 years. Thank you for your feedback 😊

Hi Bill, thank you for stopping by! Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of the Quest 2, is that it is a stand alone VR headset. You download games and apps directly to the headset, and you can start enjoying them right away :)
How about a VR Kung Fu course? Using hand tracking and foot tracking, you could practice your punches, kicks, dodges on a VR sparring partner, VR dummy, etc. Learn from a VR instructor.

@@n000Face to watch You Tube videos, I think you need the TH-cam VR app or possibly a browser that supports VR. I have it on the quest 2 but it does not seem available in the oculus or steam stores. You can always download the videos then watch them on any player such as Deo or Bigscreen. I use 4K video downloader for downloading You Tube videos.
@@marka6487 yeah it looks like TH-cam actually no longer has an app on Steam.. idk I just think it's kind of hilarious how hard it is to do this basic thing. Ah well!
