Willem from the bottom of my heart I am amazed by your work and videos that you create. It is amazing to see someone with my age to dive into the topic of photography and help others to learn what photography is all about. Im impressed by what amazing characters you are surrounded by. I think it is very important to tackle this topic not only by explaining what new features the latest and greatest cameras have and why one should be buying those, but by helping to understand the essence of photography and what helps to makes a great picture (e.g. the story behind it) . I sincerely enjoyed Coreen Simpsons view about shooting what you find interesting and not only to photograph what people think, what they want to see. I hope you understand what I am trying to say - I am from Germany and therefore English is not my first language. Keep it up and please give us more of those Phototalks!
His advice is... priceless, I hope who ever is watching this is truly listening to what he said about getting exposure on our photos just phenomenal advice. Thank you for this video, I am a recent new subscriber and I love your channel, believe me I'll have this video on replay. Keep it up, blessings.
Verhoeve identifies it: "learning how to see better." Too many photographers rely on their cameras to do the work. It's not the camera. It's the person identifying interesting visuals. Knowing which direction to point the camera and when to press the shutter button. In my experience the greatest thing a photographer can do to improve their photography is draw. You don't have to draw well or show anybody your drawings, but drawing forces you to look with greater concentration and selection. Drawing is weight lifting for photographers.
I recently asked a stranger if I could take their photo and it's now one of my favorite photos. Terrifying, but wildly satisfying. I also got to have a great conversation with a new friend 😁
How powerful, to suggest that photographers can should do their own projects first and then try to sell it instead of the other way round. The fact that this is possible as others have dons thisis incredibly inspiring
These Phototalks are so well made, Willem. I love how several of the photos are shown several times, so you get both a first and a second impression after having heard the photographer talk a little bit. It's a small detail, but the way you read a picture after being given a context for it, is so different from the first impression.
Assign yourself. Those are the most important words in this video. If you are not inspired to take the photo or draw the picture your work will suffer.
Willem you have sparked the photographer in me. Before watching your videos I was already taking pictures with my DSLR for 2 months. I was having fun, learning about photography. Then I saw your videos and the more I see you and your content the more I appreciate your work and respect you as a person. Thank you and please keep doing what you love because I am sure I am not the only person you have reached out to.
@@WillemVerb well, you done it bro! can't wait for the next one. And yeah him even talking about how to do business in this area is amazing, noted few things. Thank again!
man, your videos are amazing. what an awesome conversation. wesley verhoeve could talk photography for a week straight and i'd listen to every word. great stuff.
I have fallen in love with Wesley's work in the past 6 months and also your videos so this was such a treat! Thank you Willem :) Loved the advice of "self assigning" and also about learning to "see better". So valuable.
i loved this video! portraits, my favorite style of photography, seeing someone with so much bag, knowledge and specially passion talk about that was so special. thank you for this 🖤
I love this talk Willem. Really great photograph and inspiring person. You also are. I truly love how your work affects my thinking and mindset. Cheers from Prague
I love this series of videos you're doing. The photographer being interviewed are great and inspiring. I'm glad the youtube algorithm brought me here. Hope you get thousands of new subscribers, you deserve it. Keep up the good work, man.
I love this channel, because you remind me to create for longevity. To share stories and moments. Ya'll inspired my first portrait series. So excited to see better.
This really inspired me. I'm already very comfortable taking portraits of strangers. This motivated me to take this to a next level, curating something beyond single photos. Thank you, Willem!
Hi man. This video is gold. First thing the content is amazing. The interview and the insights you have revealed here are unique. Thx for that. Please keep this series ongoing. Secondly, the video itself is very well executed. I was immersed in the story and only now that I was about to write this comment, I realised that there was a hand guiding me through the story. I am already looking forward to the next one.
Hey Willem. Nice vid man. Thanks to you I know his work more profound, have the fortune this week to meet Wesley here in Mexico. Really nice guy and incredible person.
I really enjoy your videos and how informative they are too! I love taking pictures a lot and I’ve been inching towards more amateur photography as photography is my hobby. I like how easy going you are and how you’re also calm too. I don’t enjoy videos with loud people and a lot going on, it low key gives me anxiety but I really enjoy yours! Keep it up
Great video! Really appreciate his advice and encouragement to new photographers. Just go out and shoot! I’ve been doing this lately and it’s very enjoyable!
Great - in the US, you have a completely different approach to photography. In Germany, everything is so jammed, nobody likes to be addressed and photographed. As a German photographer, landscape photography is the better choice. This is a very good channel here and I watch it often, great photos, great people, it's great. Greetings from Bavaria near the watzmann, excuse my english
Amazing video Will :) Love the interview style and how open and candid your friend is about his work. What a great series indeed. I look forward to seeing more :D
Anyone shy about approaching strangers with a camera should consider getting a TLR. People will ask _you_ to take their photo! Never fails. This was the first time that I ever heard about the ICP and that genre of photography...interesting discussion in your chat. I also liked his comment about self-assigning. That’s got to be a great way of taking back at least some creative control for anyone contracting their work. I’ll run that by working friends. Keep up the good work.
Stephanie Gratzer Hi Stephanie. A TLR is a “twin lens reflex” camera. It’s shaped like a box with two lenses on the front and uses a waist level finder like Willem’s RZ67. TLRs shoot 6x6 (square frames) and are a bit more portable and ergonomic than the Mamiya RB67/RZ67. I have a couple videos about TLRs. You can see my old one in this video about the quirks of shooting with a TLR: th-cam.com/video/gawyQf0eyjk/w-d-xo.html
genuinely my favorite thing about sundays
Oscar Villanueva ❤️❤️❤️
Facts!
"You don't have to go to japan to take good photos"

This is why I love TH-cam, not the gimmicky, cheesy vids but the knowledge you can gain if you know where to look
How powerful, to suggest that photographers can should do their own projects first and then try to sell it instead of the other way round. The fact that this is possible as others have dons thisis incredibly inspiring
I thought for sure you meant Insane Clown Posse when you said he curates for the ICP haha. Great video as always I look forward to next weeks

@@WillemVerb well, you done it bro! can't wait for the next one. And yeah him even talking about how to do business in this area is amazing, noted few things. Thank again!
The self-assign thing he mentioned is very important. Even in filmmaking, it's good to just go out and shoot instead of waiting to get hired.
GOD BLESS YOU WILLEM VERBEECK

He’s awesome, thanks for the comment
Very helpful advice makes me very excited to start my journey. Main gabby is cars and skateboarding so shooting these things will be fun
Wise word there. You don't have to go to the ends of the world to take great images, it can be just right outside your door.
Interesting, learned something new today! Perspective and the way of think he himself such a very good and humble, very inspiring✨
