I would like to remind everyone that these episodes were recorded pre-strike. Therefore some of the things we're talking about are a little out of sync with where we're at now. Also, as we've previously mentioned we will be transitioning into watch along format. For this serial we will still have the episode available, but as you'll be able to see it will be slightly blurred and audio lowered (Though that is the norm with audio). I have edited in a timer to help with adjusting to what that will be like as well. Thank you all for understanding and your support!
If there is one thing we know about the Sith, it’s that they take workplace safety very seriously.
Must be an old sith thing. Lack of guard rails on death star was very un sith like
@@YoFool.1506 i blame that on the fact the design for the death star was started with the geonosians who had no need for guard rails because they could fly
Im telling you. Bazil is the real sith lord.
The "good" guys wipe droid memories all the time.
Bail Antilles deleted prequel C3pO
Best tagline I seen about this episode “The Dark side, we have Soup”!!!
Back scars. Who's the only Jedi we've seen, who uses a whip lightsaber?...
I had "Manny" thoughts about this episode 👀😳
Lee is the last name. Jung-jae is the first name. His co-stars call him JJ.
Now I'm picturing Zoro using "three lightsaber style" and holding one in his mouth xD
OHMYGODS YES
19:11 I hit them with a Do It at that exact moment on my first watch
I'll bet that droids auto backup their memories into the device hub whilst recharging.
Osha is the acolyte and I think Qimir was Vernestra's padawan but not the one in the books cause he looks entirely different but the reason why I think Qimir was her padawan is cause his scar looks like it came from a light whip
The one from the books would be over a hundred years old. Which, I guess he does say it was “a long time ago”, but he’s certainly aging gracefully if he’s from that era.
@jdrobertson42 at first I thought he was her padawan from the books and he's using the dark side to slow down his aging but then someone on another video reminded me that character looks entirely different from Qimir he's tall white and has blonde hair so I think Qimir came later when Vernestra was an adult jedi master see she's like a prodigy and she was the youngest to become a jedi knight at 16 I think
@@lordfoul6259 15 maybe? And took a Padawan almost immediately after. She was quite the prodigy, which does make you wonder why she’s stuck as a grumpy middle manager 100-ish years later. But I’m not sure the show can really develop that arc in the two remaining episodes. Will be interesting to see.
@jdrobertson42 well they're still not done with the books I think they have one more adult novel left but she's mostly appeared in the young adult books so her backstory isn't done yet so I think with The Acolyte they're gonna avoid spoilers plus she's faced creatures far worse than any sith look up The Nameless
So I have a weird theory about the Sith Master. We keep seeing these scenes with the Security Council and how the Jedi are under scrutiny and how they are having to play politics. It feels super random but there must be something intentional about these scenes. I'm wondering if the Sith Master is the one that is trying to turn the Republic against the Jedi at this time. It will obviously fail, but it kind of feels like a big plot a Sith would try to devise, in order to eventually seize power.
"Nor should you [trust me]. But you should learn to trust yourself." = Every conspiracy grifter who says "You don't have to take my word for it. Do your own research."
Forgot to say don't get me started on Palpatine. Lol
27:02 hoooo boyyyy. The Droid Conversation. One day, there has to be a reckoning in the Galaxy.
It was one of my favorite moments in Mando S3. Lots of people hated that episode, but I loved how Blade Runner it was.
Okay, as far as Qimir character moments with the Dark Side manipulation, this was a good episode. But as far as plot, it really felt like this episode was just stalling until we FINALLY find out what happened to the coven next week.
Return of the Gallifrey Pals.
Qimir, The Phantom Menace?...
I agree about Palpatine returns. In the movie series itself, a major plot point is left to the opening crawl. This is literally an example of telling instead of showing.
pip factory settings is ABSOLUTELY a payoff for the finale.
well at least Jeckie and Yord got another paycheck
I'm with you DROID RIGHTS!!! DROID LIVES MATTER!!! 😅 Save Pip!!!
Happy Thursday! Nothing else worth celebrating today other than Star Wars!!!
We'll have a win over 🎃 to celebrate in November, provided we get out the vote...
Of course Bazil knows... because of Bazil's nose! 🙄 THAT’S for beating me to the 'Osha compliant' G-U-A-R-D rails pun...🙂❤
I guess the droids thing is a little f'd up. Though I guess the thing I thought was screwed up was when in Attack of the Clones the " good guys" used clones as cannon fodder while the "bad guys" used machines.
Enter the "if is bad, why is hot" crowd. *Asaj Ventress and Episode 3 Anakin have entered the chat*
Star Trek has also had moral treatment of synthetic lifeforms....TNG has "Measure of a Man" when Data had to go on trial to answer the question if he had rights.....Voyager had a similar episode about the Holographic Doctor having rights when a reall D-bag in the Alpha Quadrant tried to steal the copyrights the Doctor holonovel....Voyager also had another episode when they discovred the Holograms of the doctor we just an artificial lifeform to enslave and should they have rights to freedom....then the entire first season of Picard was about the Romulans trying to genocide synths and they just wanted the right to exist....of course these were all metaphors about real life situations as well
They are doing such a good job of making the bad guy's side feel plausible. He's not just claiming to do bad things for some good reason. We see him lay out a case for why he has to fight the jedi, and of course it helps that the jedi are so shady here. And I never feel like i'm being asked to think his acts are truly justified, but just that he has real motivations. And yes, that shot of Jeckie was downright cruel. But it does serve to remind us that, while the Stranger can act calm and reasonable on Unknown Planet, he also did that. I still hope he's not an actual Sith, if only because i like the idea that there are many force traditions in the Galaxy (it is a whole dang galaxy, after all), and purely individual ways of approaching it.
Qimir is evil but the force is long with him... Strong! The force is strong with... Could you put your robes back on?
*insert Jeckie "put a shirt on Yord" GIF*
Is everything ok as there is no red dwarf this week
We made a little post about it over on our community tab! We took most of this week off outside of our Acolyte reaction
It's remarkable how the second half of this show is massively improving on the plodding unsatisfying first half, these last two episodes have honestly been really good. Quite a change of pace from last week's fast-paced action-heavy episode, this was a great chance to explore the different character dynamics, get into their heads and find out more about how they tick. The stranger/Qimir/Darth Bortles is honestly shaping up to be one of the most interesting characters in this series, if not the entire franchise, I love how he's a sinister malevolent presence who's clearly trying to sway Osha to his side, but is doing so while being way more open and honest than the Jedi are. I also love how we're seeing more sides to Sol's character too, a look behind his sage spiritual persona to show a more emotionally raw and potentially a kind of darker side. Manny Jacinto, Lee Jung-jae and Amandla Stenberg are doing excellent work here, seeing these four characters bounce off each other makes for such fascinating compelling character drama, and has me genuinely hooked. And in general, I'm really liking how we're blurring the lines of the binary Jedi/Sith dynamic, it really puts me in mind of The Last Jedi in a great way (also speaking of TLJ references, I'm taking that island planet to be Ach-To until proven otherwise - us hardcore TLJ defenders have to take our W's where we can get them).
So yeah, excellent performances, captivating character drama, and it still has the time to include a funny little guy (Bazil) to remind us we're in the Star Wars universe. Depending on how the series sticks the landing, this could end up being the second best live-action Star Wars series so far (I mean even if the next two episodes are phenomenal, there's no way this series will be able to beat Andor)
I'd say that this episode was still...not great? But I do think it's the best slow episode out of 1-4 and 6.
When I tell you my fall to the dark side would be complete THE MOMENT the robe came off, good lorde, that man, he’s definitely got the seductive dark side down to a T.
Master Sus.
17:27 I was looking forward to your reaction to the jump cut to Jecki. lol. That was a mean thing to do to us. 23:03
Cool episode but still a little too short for me. They should have combined 4 and 5 and then I assume this one and 7.
Enjoyed your reaction as usual. Love watching you two together.
Guard* rails :D
Is BSG on hold or did 2-10 go too far and you're done?
We took most of the week off but will be back next week! There's a post on our community tab with more info
I looked there and saw about the Acolyte pause, but nuttin' on BSG. Thanks for the update
@kevenpinder7025 Oh! It was to let everyone know that Acolyte would be the only thing we posted this week. As with the holiday Paula and I were dealing with schedule stuff and also a little break was needed 😊
