So far this year I have donated 62 quilts to Charity. My Gallery blog.patsloan.com/pat-sloans-quilt-gallery.html
The last 10 went to the Church of the Brethren for their big annual auction where all the funding goes to disaster relief work. They will send groups for cleanup, for rebuilding, and for support. One support function sets up day care right after the disaster so the children can be watched while the parents are dealing with things. www.brethren.org/bdm/

You do NOT look frumpy, or otherwise in those pants. Comfortable is my watchword these days, and I would be tempted to choose frumpy over stylish if that were necessary! But the navy color transmits "slim" with the camera!! And it looks lovely with your 'riviera' shirt. And if all that didn't convince you, we love you no matter what you look like! You give so much happiness in our quilting world! Thanks Pat!

This was the year that I had to take control and create my future quilt lists because my closet of fabrics and projects was overflowing and I was stuffing more in it. I think I was afraid to know the exact number of potential projects versus stash, and be overwhelmed. Well it wasn’t so bad. I created different lists on different coloured index cards and posted them above my sewing work space. I also decided that there were some projects I was no longer interested in. I organized each project into plastic bins like the ones you use. List categories: projects in progress, projects for 2024, baby projects, potential projects. This has helped me keep things in check, and ask myself if I can realistically add another project within my lifetime with of all the other things I want to do. Some fabric still sneaks into the closet 🤫😄

Like you, Pat, I have "800" quilt patterns on my "want to make" list. I get inspired, order the pattern. By the time the pattern arrives, I'm inspired again. Lots of times I will just simply start one, like your "Crush" quilt, which I am almost finished. Next thing I know, I have yet another one started. Watch videos, new designs, inspired again. You are right. Can't make them all, but, I keep dreaming of quilts. LOL!

As makers, we hate to waste. I admire your fugleness in using scraps for things like the yellow blocks and the churn dash. You have so many great projects in progress and on "your list" to do and there is only so much time. I would let the blocks go to charity and would think of it as using some helpers to make someone in need a great quilt. Di

I make all of my quilt labels on the embroidery machine. Sometimes I stitch them out directly on the backing. They always include quite a bit of detail including what I named the quilt (I name all of theml), who the quilt was made for, when it was made, that it was made by me, and often details about the fabric. On another note, OMG! I have a terrible problem with jotting notes of all kinds on pieces of paper and then I end up with all kinds of notes everywhere. I need to find a way to get a better handle on it. And, yes, I have many, many projects in the works along with many other projects that I would like to do, and am always open to new projects. Now, if I live to be about 238 years old, completing all of these projects shouldn't be a problem.

You look great in the linen pants! I find that looser pants are much more flattering (and slimming) than leggings, skinny jeans, etc. on most body shapes.

I use a simple composition book to write down all my UFOs (one per page) and also have a page for a list of beautiful precuts for which I don’t have a project yet. This helps me identify which UFOs are closest to being done so I tell myself I have to finish 3 UFOs before starting a new project without guilty feelings 😂. I use a binder with sheet protectors for patterns - the ones I’ve already made are separated from the ones I’d like to make. Occasionally I’ll let them go to new homes! Love your show, you are encouraging, fun and have an adorable personality!

I came to quilting from garment making. I also dabble in jewelry. I had to remake my list every time an emergency came up ( baby, retirement, etc!!!).
So, now I put my projects on index cards. I can add the things I want to do, and easily change the order of desired completion.
When I'm really feeling organized, each type of project gets a different color index card.
I have UFO's in boxes in a store room. I can just look in my recipe box and save a trip to the storage room to see what I want to do next.

It's so easy to "fall into the rabbit hole" and make another project for ourselves. I did that after I finished my Perfect Picnic Quilt. I had 50 dark and 50 light 5" squares left over so I had to use them up and make 100 HST blocks. I'm almost finished sewing up the 10 x 10 grid of HST's. It'll be a great baby quilt size, but like you said, it wasn't really on my LIST. 🤣
Pat, your BARN STAR QUILT is lovely. I put that in all caps to catch other people's eye in case anyone wants to make it. The Barn Star pattern book is in the Deal of the Day today (6/20/24) at the Fat Quarter Shop for 55% off.

I also have the UFO’s on the list

I made a notes file on my iPad of all backings, of all panels, of all quilts I want to make, anytime I buy a panel, or new piece of several pieces that will go on one quilt, I add it to the file list. Occasionally I look at the list and decide what I may want to make the following year or the next few months. Sometimes I just want to make something simple so I pick that to do, or one I am dying to see made up…. I find the list is great.

Label making? Yes, please. I have been a label maker from way back, ever since I took a class from Susan McKelvey. Her labels were very 'Victorian' and pretty. My style evolved over time and I do most of mine either for Quilts of Valor (so red, white and blue) or for children through Project Linus. Years ago I bought a bunch of Kim Churbuck's Label Making Books. The themes have a lot of focus on ones appropriate for children, so you copy the lines over a light box and then lightly color in with Pigma pens. Satisfies my 'inner child creativity" . There is a rectangle or square of blank area for including the written information about the quilt. So storing all of those supplies requires the big double size Art Box storage container.

I understand completely. Yesterday I put together a scrap quilt and was tired of it. I cut the border and binding.. stuck it all in a bag and put it in a UFO box

I got three quilts bound this weekend. It is so satisfying and exciting when they are done and binding isn’t difficult. The problem is the wrestling with the weight of the quilt and managing the twists and turns that develop in the quilt.

Hi Pat! Your Barnstar quilt is so beautiful! And yes I too make lists! So many lists! And even though I get to cross some off because I actually made the quilt yet it seems 3 more get added ( or more!) Love your videos❤️

I have already met your label box challenge from the last time you showed it. My box is about the same size and has quilt patterns on it from Whoopie pies at the tractor store. I also keep some freezer paper to iron onto the backs to stabilize the label as I’m writing on it. Always enjoy you, Pat.😊

I love your quilts and your top from Chicos. You might like Tencel fabric pants. Chicos has several styles and the ones I have look like jeans, but the fabric is very light similar to a linen blend.

Pat, you look lovely in your shirt and your new pants. I'm happy that the loose pants are back in style, but getting the right size is the trick. No matter...you do not look dumpy! You are so funny and I enjoy your daily videos.

I am more mindful about what I start this year! With so many UFO’s to finish should I really start another quilt (or 2 or 3)?!!
I’ve learned that block of the month quilt alongs (usually a mystery) will most likely end up as a UFO! Even the block Wednesday quilt alongs are hard to keep up with and finish!
So I’ve made so guidelines for this year -
    1) I either finish the UFO or I let it go!
    2) If I start a quilt I finish it before starting another one!
