Varina's my favorite of the ones listed, I have a commander deck with her at the helm. Love the support from white in terms of attacking and tokens, my favorite card in the deck being Reconnaissance that way i still get more looting without worrying about my creatures dying.
White also gives easy access to artifact/enchantment removal AND you get to run the handful of white zombies such as Corpse Knight, Wayward Servant, and God-Eternal Oketra.^^
I honestly think Ratadabrik of Urborg fits Varina well since he gives zombies vigilance and legendary zombie creatures can be copied, and the originals reanimated, to keep full momentum going. The 2 ward does not hurt either, making him mana inefficient to remove.
I'm currently working on a sidisi, Undead vizier zombie toolbox deck but I'm honestly struggling balancing between zombies cretures to sacrifice sac outlets to sac my commander and cards like supernatural stamina too bring my comander back at instant speed for 1 mana
I keep reading how the Scarab God "dodges" Commander tax, how does that work? Doesn't the commander go into the commander zone whenever it dies, so how would it go to our hand? Sorry, relatively new to MTG
Hi, welcome to magic the gathering, it's a lot of fun :D So the scarab god says the following: "When The Scarab God dies, return it to its owner’s hand at the beginning of the next end step." This means you can choose to have it go to your hand instead of the command zone if its killed. This means you can bypass the commander tax. However if someone exiles the scarab god, this effect won't work and you'll have to send him to the command zone. Hope this helps! :D
I like running Ghoulcaller Gisa in a power matters type deck (Yargle and Multani for instance). Golgari is REALLY good for this sort of thing. Yes, I WILL sacrifice my 4cmc Daemogoth Titan to make 11 2/2 zombies.^^
I love Varina, Esper Zombies are best zombies. Special shout out to Geralf Visionary Stitcher, you've tried the best Zombie Commanders now try the rest! I just dig how silly this commander can be in a mono blue deck since you aren't really putting zombies in the deck but creatures with big buts that can be turned into bigger zombies with a little icing on top: Flying :P LOL

I prefer Muldrotha for sultai zombies (though Sidisi IS in the 99) since he can get back cards like Waste Not, Crowded Crypt, Field of the Dead, etc.
