Did you need a surveyor to see where your land ends or did the builders tell you? Our realtor for our new Build said we will have to get a surveyor. 😢

Thank you! However, that’s not completely true. You have to make sure things are in writing and documented, which we have. With the state of the economy right now, lots of stuff is on back order or delayed. They’ve already started fixing the area in the front of the house (several of my neighbors also need the same are completed) and our replacement microwave has come in.

Congratulations however I built a house 20 years ago never except imperfections when you settle. Clear all those things up before you close. Once you close all bets may be off for making changes. Don’t ever let the builder bully you. You are now the owner. Don’t be intimidated

Beautiful darlin!! you and your handsome husband DO NOT!! look old enough to have an 18 yr old let alone grand children WOW!!!. Why didn't you have the contract put in your choice of lighting? I would have purchased wooden shelves through out the house especially in the laundry room & pantry. My hubby is a contractor and he installed the elongated toilets they are great; they sit up higher and the seats are larger and comfortable. Ms. Ariel I am noting the info so I can get make up done for events when I come to ATL.

Thank you! I actually have a 23 yr old too! She’s the mother of the 3 yr old grandson! Lights and shelves are expensive! We upgraded / added the pendant lights and dining chandelier because they wouldn’t install the electrical for the pendants without buying their lights but all other projects we will complete down the line.

Thanks! I have mixed feelings about Meritage. We still love our home but noticed after closing that Meritage cut lots of corners. I would just suggest that you get a really good inspector before closing and don’t close until ALL issues are addressed and corrected.

We are close to closing on a Mertiage lark this month. Here in AZ the builder grades are really basic. They don't put alot of linen closets in. We don't have one in the master but we have one in the kids' bathroom. I only have a small coat closet which I'll have to turn into a utility closet. But I live Mertiage pantry space and the USB standard plugs!

I love that your realtor was amazing! I bought a new build closed in feb of 2022 and I used a realtor for DR Horton he was awfulllll I love the home obviously but he did not make the experience enjoyable. I love your house and was wondering who the builder was then came across this video. Congrats!
Thank you!! When we were looking, we went to a DR HORTON community. HORRIBLE sales agent! She basically looked at us and ‘assumed’ we wouldn’t qualify. Big mistake on her part! 😂 My realtor was so sweet and wanted to make sure our buying experience was the best. I couldn’t have picked a better person! Sorry you had to go thru such awful services when making one of the biggest life changes, that was supposed to be joyful. 💜

I basically won a “lottery” to be able to purchase the home it was ridiculous and let me tell you he definitely did not allow me to forget how he could easily sell my home to the next person who would pay more. Why don't you use the 1st room as a Show room/living room instead of a office because the second living room is so small?
It’s actually not that small (it’s just the way the camera makes it look and there’s no furniture to really show the true scale.) Also, we have a loft upstairs that will be used for hanging out / tv watching. There will only be 2 ppl living in our home, so it’s not really necessary to have 3 living rooms (plus his man cave that will be a sitting room basically. Lol)

Congratulations 🎉 Stay on top of the warranty group. We built our house with Meritage a few years ago and we love the house but have to stay on top of the warranty group. I hope you enjoy your house.
Keep a list of incomplete items. They should do a one month check in where they should address concerns, incomplete items, so just stay on them and they will get it done. Our project manager was amazing but the when we were handed off to the warranty group, that’s when we started having to stay on them a bit more.
