Nice green Wing, I just bought a green one too, 97, and realized that the green color scheme is actually rare. You just answered my question why those "fog" lights are not on because on my 93 those lights are constantly on with the ignition, probably wired in by the previous owner. I replaced them with LED bulbs to be cooler. Thank you for the video.

My 1990 works the same. I see them as curb lights as well as my lights come on with the turn signal. Though I do believe others who say theirs stay on all the time as thats how its set up from the factory. Either way they do the job right. 👍 Appreciate the input. The 70's era Cadillac's had the same thing, side light for lighting in direction of turn. Didn't even know my dad's had it till reading in the owners manual, basically got bored during a ride one day.😊
A prior owner put aftermarket lights from Stanley in the cornering light hole of my '89 GL1500 but I was replacing bulbs every year. I got new Stanley lights on eBay for less than $20 for the pair and got 50W equivalent LED's from CycleMax. Only downside now is that I have to upgrade the position and headlamps toLED's! For driving lights, they are nice! I was under the impression that not all models from 88-00 had cornering lights. Some had driving lights, and some had none at all. I don't recall which years had what, but I suspect that mine were added into the knock-out holes!
thanks clif. for the video. i have a 93 asp. and the curb lights stay on all the time, except the right goes out when the turn signal is applied and the same thing happens when the left is used. there are two relays one for each light that are controlled by the turn signal switch. everything is factory equipped. it seems that there may be years that apply to the operation of the lights. what is your year.

Just got a 99 GL1500, and the PO wired them to stay on. I do not want them to melt the plastics, so hypothetically speaking, what if I just installed a lower wattage bulb, or LED? This should prevent the lens from melting, correct?
I have a 94 se goldwing..starter does not turn over the bike.. I take it out and lay it on the battery tray it spins slow I take it out and connect it straight to a battery and it spins fast.. what do I look for
My 1999 goldwing was not equipped with those lights however I found a set and installed them the wire hookup is actually there for you to hook up but for some reason they will not turn on the light when you turn the signal I don't know where the trouble maybe in my situation but they are curved lights they come on when you signal that direction and all I can say is I wish mine would work correctly because if not I'm gonna have to rewire them in another direction so the plug that they connect to are right near the area where the light is installed but for some reason they will not turn on with the signal so I don't know what may be the issue there I've been putting a lot of Chrome that I have off of SE model and I think those were actually set to operate with the turning signal mechanism however I have installed a set of high definition headlights Eli D that may have something to do with these lights I'm not for sure but maybe I can look into that a little further thank you Clifford
I am deaf.. captions said “curb lights” and parts for replacement bulb called the corner lights. Mine 1990 and it’s connected with turn signals. Those of you need bulb replacement, got mine from cyclemax cost $2.50 each.. I also had to replace my high beam headlights bulbs too .. it’s both high/low bulbs… upgraded 55/65 bulbs but required shims for it for those whose looking…. No need rewire ..thanks Clifford!

Just got into my '91 to answer this question fro myself because on my brothers '99 they stay on. On mine yup it's only with the turn signals. I'm thinking of switching to LEDs and wiring to stay on. It's not bad getting to them but the 3 screws that hold on the bottom cover had to have the heads drilled off and be taken off with my visegrips. I anti-siezed everything when I reassembled it.

dane bolster yes. cyclemax and wingstuff have them. its a whole assembly replacement. decent amount of disassembly to swap them. pretty simple though. the new ones come with a new relay so they stay on as running lights and they're 18w led instead of halogen
i have a 97 wing. The right light stays on all the time and the left light is not working. It looks like someone has been in there at one time by the look of the soldier job on the ground to the light socket. Trying to chase the wiring but i dont see any more. splices etc. Would they not have to jump the relay to get these to say on steady. Does the relay go through the turn signal. I am guessing that the turn signal closes the grnd? any help appreciated
I purchased halogen running light conversions for my 89 curb lights....best mod I ever got. Now I believe in 92 they changed to running lights. ON PAPER.....your fog lights should turn off with high beams unless its factory., lol. And yes, do not convert the factory lights to running lights, they will melt. Get the full kit that comes with the bucket and lenses , it was cheap
My left curb light stay on steady and ideas why my right works fine with the turn signal. Edit i just bought my 1995 Gl1500 so they came pre-installed.
In 98 and up the became fog lights from honda int the older90s ones they only turn on when the turn signal is On wing stuff . Com as an led kit to convert it to always on. But your better off just adding your own ones since the aren't angled right

Sir: I had a major electrical malfunction today. I am looking to hook up with an expert on the goldwing 1500 electrical system. Push The start button and bike would not stop turnover. no matter what i did. Turn The key off, kick stand down, kill switch. Eventually the battery died in a quick manner. Put i boosted on the bike it did the same thing. NOw when i attempt to put the jump battery on i get a heavy spark on the negative post. indicates a heavy draw to ground. Bike is a 97 that doesn't get much use. I suspect the starter switch may have been the culprit. I had a problem with some of the switches before. which i suspect is not from using the bike much. But now i get nothing. looking for some info on where to start troubleshooting.
Hi! You might be busy. But would like to ask if you could explain an issue I have currently with my GL1500. The bike will not run in 3rd and higher gears. The bike literally dies in these gears. The 1st and 2nd gears the bike runs well without dying. Can you tell me what this issue is or might be? Thank you!
I have a 96 GL1500SE and mine are the same. They come on when the turn single is on. You can get a fog light kit online at bike bandit that replaces the curb light and are 18W. Guess you would have to wire them differently than the curb light.

I cant figure it out. It costs me $300 just to walk through the doors of my Honda dealership and I was thinking that's a little steep for a bulb replacement.

Have no power to left corner light. Relay has power. .t ring to ring out the wires but it looks like it goes thru a couple of ccts. Hard to read diagram.
inside the lower cowl there is a small blinker relay just above the light. I only know this because i had to ad a jumper to both with my running light conversion kit

You're wrong. Not all models do that. I have a 97 Aspencade and they come on with the key and are driving/fog light. THAT is according to Honda. 96-97 were the years they came on with the key.
Hi Cliff, Thanks for all the vids and helpful advice. I was wondering how tall you are. Your set up as far as foot pegs and highway boards is exactly the same as mine. I'm 5'11'' and I find the goldwing very uncomfortable for some reason. I've only had it a couple of months but I'm still getting cramps in my hip joint area. It's excruciating and there's no way to relieve it while riding. I also find the outward curve of the engine guard to be getting in the way of my leg room. I'm baffled as to why they would make such a big powerful bike with so little leg room. Any suggestions?
I'm 6'-2" and it took me awhile to get used to it, and get everything adjusted just right ( like the highway pegs). I know you can get custom seats made to help with that issue, from what i heard. Yeah when i used the highway pegs at first it was a pain, it hurt. Took awhile to find a sweet spot that felt good. I just lean back, and move my butt forward. Its mostly going to be trail and error, is all I can say about that.
Can you please do a very easy to follow video on how to change the bulb in the curb lights? OR someone can email me with a very simple step by step video on how to do it. Thank you!
If you watch some of my other video where I disassemble some of the plastics it will show you how to how to get to that particular plastic part to change out the bulb.

P Jones I've also read that it can burn out a relay from pulling too much juice for extended periods.

Makes sense. My rear shock is got a leak that doesn't allow bike to hold pressure for more then a few seconds. How to track down the leak?

The later models the lights stay on all the time. I know 98 and up for sure. I'm not sure about 97.

Check the starter.
I have a 96 Goldwing SE my tail lights went out gas gauge and temp gauge where is the fuse to that
they shouldn't be on the same fuse. Your fuse box should be label
my 97 aspencade came with these lights for reference.
How did you install the driving light bar?
KappaHouse85 I didn't add, it came like when I bought it. It's not hard to add.
I would definitely wire a relay so they stay on when the lights other lights are on maybe use a lower watt LED.
Where did you get the wind deflectors from? Mine are starting to crack.

Joseph Mosley sounds like your losing fuel pressure. Check your vacuum petcock. If that checks out ok, then it might be your Carburetor.

its just a jumper that replaces the relay just above each light. I got that kit. Best mod i ever did. Youll love it

i would pull all the dead bulbs....take em to auto zone with you. Most are standard bulbs, and not honda only
