I just watched a cure all carnivore diet presentation advocating eating nothing but meat and I found it alarming, people quite aggressive and denigrating non meat eaters! I’m a long time veggie, fit, 80 years, full time job, not overweight and keen to stay healthy. Your presentation is so lovely, a relief! Thank you for making it.

Except ... Dr Lustig is "a real food guy." His experiment with the children with fatty liver was to prove sugar did it, so their diet was junk food (like hot dogs) with no sugar. He doesn't seem vegan at all and spoke at a low carb event.

Earlier pioneer on caloric density was nathan pritikin who was a strong influence on dr john mcdougall. Some high calorie fruits have been used as staple foods like coconuts, plantains, breadfruit, pandanus, etc. I pretty much boil all my food in order to make sure the fiber of unrefined plant foods will work better. If I boil potato or sweet potato, I never throw away the water used for boiling and will drink all of the water used for boiling. For high calorie traditional foods like corn tortillas and whole grain breads, maybe throw them into soups. I have tried cacao beans and they are quite bitter.

47:40 - I've just got to say that this is a bit deceptive, as I have 2 tbs of cream in my coffee every morning as breakfast, and I'm not hungry till midday. I do it to keep my insulin low. If I'm super hungry and don't have time to eat, I'll have a tbs of cream, and I'm fine for hours. You don't need to be FULL to be satiated. :-)

I’m 5’5” as well, male, and 165 would be a lot of weight for me. The heaviest I ever got was 145, and now I’m at around 120. This is the weight I’m supposed to be, I don’t overeat, I’m satisfied with what I eat, I have a flat stomach. I’ve been every weight from 120 to 145 and this is how I feel the best. I do eat a vegan diet, but I have some processed foods, olive oil, avocado, chocolate and nuts and seeds. I have noticed that when I cut out chocolate and nuts, due to a dental procedure, I lost like 5 pounds.

Chef AJ u are really making sense and your principles are simple n concise ...however l wanted to ask oils and fat may hv high calorie per pound as u explained but are we sure when it gets in the body it will cause weight gain ...I know some people making use of the ketogenic diet, Banting the Atkins have managed to lose weight how do u explain that .. someone eating high fat n low carbs can lose weight though your diets really sounds better ...maybe the mechanism of action for oils and fat does not work as the perceived calorie output ...am thinking the issue of weight gain is more influenced by the issue of insulin thus carbs make a greater secretion of insulin...maybe people are not supposed to avoid oils but rather use the healthy oils maybe that's y Doctor Benards (PC) program also causes weight loss despite the fact that he allows healthy oils ...me kinda want to understand plz help

I'm watching, because I struggle, I admit it. Seems we can lose weight if we cut out one of two things: either fat or carbs. I've done both (both for years), and keto indeed was the easier of the two. I'm still really interested in a short term super low fat diet, for the fruit. I think that food addiction is just hunger for nutrients and vitamins. In junk food aren't any. In vegetables and fruit are, but non-bioavailable for humans (so feel free to eat them until you are tired, you will still suffer). Therefore will be better for me to stick to keto/carnivore diet. Good luck with your diet.
