That's because he had just finished Hairspray where he played Link Larken and had to dye his hair black for the show. Ryan on the other hand has already embraced it and is trying to help him. In the next scene they switched clothes without explanation 👀
I just think that's disgusting. Why does someone care about teenager's se*ual preference? I didn't like that they switched clothes in the second movie, because that just makes the viewers imagine teenage characters doing inappropriate things together. I'm not about that, and I do not ship them.
The reason why Zac knows how to play is because he used to train for about 3 hours everyday while shooting. Also he doesn’t sing in this first movie, only from the second one! The singer is called Drew Seeley and you can watch him in Another Cinderella story with Selena Gomez around this same time period. Another cheesy movie but it’s actually kinda fun to watch. Love you guys! :)
the not singing part is half true. his voice is party mixed into drews voice in the songs and sometimes you hear the exact swap of the voices if you listen to it.
@@caro12347 not in the first film. In the first film all the singing was drew seeley. In the second it was a mix. In the third it was all Zac. Do some research.
I think the songs from the first movie in particular are so ICONIC to the generation that was watching Disney at the time because this movie played on TV a million times and they would have sing-a-long versions of the song playing on commercial breaks. You literally couldn't escape it if you tried and they are super catchy when repeated like that. I remember them teaching the dances and everything.
Yes the first HSM is legendary. I’m so glad that was my generation. I remember seeing backpacks, books, clothes, cups…literally everything related to it. When I got my first CD player I was gifted HSM…my first cd😭
And so many of the songs were #1 on the Billboard charts for months... it was definitely a phenomenon after musicals hadn't been getting shine in pop culture for a long time 😭
i would say the 2nd and 3rd movie had better songs, but the first movie is defintiely ICONIC. Maybe cause i just prefer Zac's voice to Drew's? And Vanessa improved a lot in each movie.
When he said he didn't find the songs memorable (or something like that) I legit gasped afhsdhsmd I remember how they got stuck in my head immediately after. heck to this day i love them
In all fairness to Troy that "practice he skipped" during the auditions wasn't a set in stone thing. They had a free period where they could have done anything they wanted Chad just decided they should use it to practice so he really wasn't going back on his commitment 🤷♀️
And easily the best dancer in the cast (besides the choreographers who appeared in the movie). That's one of the reasons I think I Don't Dance from HSM2 is so entertaining 😆
Troy and Gabriella’s relationship isn’t really just about them singing together. While that is a big part, it mainly has to do with the fact that they have this deeper understanding of each other that everyone else around them don’t have.
Hsm2 unintentionally (or it was intentional and Disney just wouldn't let Kenny show it explicitly) had one of the most iconic gay songs. Ryan's and Kelsi are honestly the best characters.
@@vestox exactly. There's no straight explanation for that number. Like its been confirmed that Ryan was supposed to be gay but Disney wouldn't allow it
The implied homophobia from Chad becomes extra interesting in the sequel, depending on how you read it. Can't wait to see you guys react to that (and hopefully to Another Cinderella Story for Troy's true singing voice in this movie~)
I was totally going to make a comment about the upcoming movie and the...shall we say homoerotic undertones. I wonder if the guys will even pick up on that... Glad I wasn't the only one thinking of it!
Sharpay is so terrible, but I love the argument that shes not a villain. She and Ryan are clearly the top "actors" at the school. I imagine theyve been gearing for this musical all winter, maybe all year since its the "big spring musical." And then some girl who just moved to town wants to be the lead with...the main school jock? Of course she was pissed!! (not condoning anything she did during the movie and I do view her as a sort of villain, but its a fun way to look at the plot)
Plus she never say either Troy or V perform so it’s obviously unfair in her mind. Plus it was kind of unfair since they didn’t arrive there on time and still got the part. Especially because neither of them seem especially engaged in the performance which is their entire world. I would be mad too if someone who clearly wasn’t passionate about something I loved out zero effort into their performance and still got the role. Her rudeness isn’t defendable though.
The one thing I will say though about the detention stuff is that athletics are heavily prioritized far more than the arts, especially in high school. Our choir department won first place in out of state competitions three years in a row. Plus, our choir and a lot of the students did extra events that were at a state level and always won high distinctions or awards. But our school never really celebrated it and more people cared about the shitty football team. Don't get me wrong, I love sports (I stopped to do music) and I still love watching sports and understand their popularity and the money they bring in. The arts, especially musical theatre, just weren't as celebrated back then to the level they are now. This movie was also before things like Glee came around so preferred treatment for sports was nothing new.
Mine was 100@ the same way. Choir/band/orchestra were just as good, or better than our sports teams and they always got like big send offs for games and all of the money. I was interested to hear that in Australia it's the same, I thought maybe outside the US it would be different
Dude my high school was the same way. Our FB team would lose the first play offs game and our school would go BAT SHIT CRAZY. But our band and choir would go to Nationals and no one gave two shits. It was so disrespectful. Those athletes are up to nothing right now, but the band and choir people are doing so good in life
@@Jlboynes YES omg Let it Shine was my ish for sure like it's so good - way less cheese (don't get me wrong, love cheesy stuff tho) and a teeny bit more realistic
I love Ryan so much and the scene where he can't read makes so little sense that I just came to the conclusion that he's dyslexic and that was just never adressed. Also, there's a post credit scene in this movie that makes me LOL so hard every time.
they arent saying it BUT things like singing and baking are seen as "feminine". in the real world (at least from personal experience) they would have been called "girls" and the F-word for engaging in these activities. i was
if you look long enough everything is rooted in misogyny and homophobia. i'm sorry that people were assholes and hope you're in the better environment now
yeah, when i took home ec, there were barely any guys and the guys who were there just didnt wanna do another elective and had us (the girls) do most the work.
What if the Drama Teacher put half her class in detention because the school keeps cutting the Arts fund so she has to rely on free labor in detention to get the productions going? Would explain why she's so bitter towards the coach in general
For future reference, the numbers like “stick to the status quo” are non- diagetic which means that the characters aren’t aware that they’re singing and dancing it’s just them expressing themselves. The Karaoke scene and “breaking free” are diegetic, meaning they take place within the narrative and the people singing and dancing are aware that they are performing. Just thought this would help you understand musical numbers a bit better.
i'm SO hyped for you guys to watch the second movie. it has, in my opinion, the best song in the trilogy and maybe of any DCOM, "I Don't Dance." it's a song between Chad and Ryan and it is a BANGER
Is this the obligatory: “Did you know: Zach Effron didn’t actually sing during the first movie because of puberty” comment that’s probably already been posted 30 times already? Maybe.
And this is exactly why I wish they would do Another Cinderella Story (starring the singer from HSM), but they usually do commentary on cultural phenomena. I wouldn't say ACS fits that title.
If you wanna watch more Kenny Ortega... He is behind the Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms, which is a series about a young girl who meets some ghosts and they form a band together because when the ghosts perform with Julie they can be seen and heard by other people. It's an amazing series!
For the record, Lucas Grabeel wanted play Ryan Evans as gay. However, Disney wouldn't allow him. Also, you can take a shot for every different hat he wears during the HSM movies.
re: Gabriella’s last-minute stage fright: There’s a biiiiiiig difference between an impromptu round of karaoke with the words right in front of you and a callback audition with an expectant audience trained on you!
Okay, watching as an adult, if I was a theater teacher, I’d hate kids like Sharpay. I wouldn’t mind her brother, he’s adorable and pretty awesome, but the sister, I’d be kinda concerned. “How dare you yell at the pianist who’s legit supposed to help you you harlot.” I’d keep the harlot part to myself.
Funny thing is in real life he didn’t like Ashley Tisdale because he thought she was stuck up. She talked about it in her TH-cam channel. But after spending time together they got along and still remain friends ☺️ totally get what u mean though…sharpay needs to be a team player in theatre!
I wouldn't. In fact I'd likely call her worse. Kids like that were the absolute worst in theater. It really put down a ton of people and made the experience much less fun.
Jazz Square: Dance move... like imagine just stepping on the corners of a square in a specific way. It's considered one of the quintessential musical theater moves. You've def seen people do it and not know what it's called.
Strongly disagree with HSM having worse songs than Camp Rock, High School Musical is a ✨musical✨ so their songs furthering and or explaining the plot in my opinion isn't really a fair critcism, also Camp Rock's songs are all at the end, and in my opinion not spaced throughout the movie well enough
Exactly! In terms of a musical movie, HSM knows how to STRUCTURE ITS SONGS. Even the worst of them serve a clear narrative purpose that effectively contribute to the story, propelling the action and characters forward.
Agreed, i love hsm songs. I think he might prefer camp rock songs because those are more pop rock, whereas the hsm songs are a bit more musical type, campy songs?
I always find it funny how no one comments on the fact that this school has AN ENTIRE MURAL WITH TROY'S FACE... talk about preassure to live up to expectations
I feel like in America the jocks really did get away with everything. They weren’t necessarily mean but they were exclusive and the teachers let them get away with more (this only really applies to the boy jocks if we’re being honest though)
This is a fact. I’m a young woman though and this still applied to me, I ran track, played volleyball, was on the swim team and cheer team. I got away with a lot. I wasn’t mean though, but there was definitely favouritism
listening to ur critiques of this movie makes me think you'll probably enjoy 2 and 3 more, some things you pointed out that you felt were missing in this one definitely come up in the other two and they just generally have better soundtracks and production value. i'm excited to see your reaction!
The first one is the classic, very nostalgic. The second one is a little more mature and the songs are (to me) a little better, more memorable. The third one...WOW
@@pundertalefan4391 the third is by far the best and actually makes me cry watching it even as an adult. It’s rough cause I was homeschooled (but was taught literally nothing, which is legal in my state) and longed for a normal life with class, and extra- curriculars and friends, and things to look forward to so I loved watching these movies and picturing myself getting to do a school musical and making friends. 💔

I really love that you guys are able to laugh at and enjoy the silliness of a "D-com" but also willing to acknowledge the actual production and everything that went into making it. Most reactions channels do just one or the other, so I really appreciate the balance that you two bring to a commentary.
so much i loved in this reaction… kenny ortega appreciation, stef clearly loving the campiness of it all, sams basketball fact checking, and most of all, muscle tees. hope y’all have fun watching the rest of the series, disney did pretty well developing the characters and building up the production.
Ahhh I was the target demographic for HSM when it came out. I was 10 years old and I adooored this movie. I was a choir/theater kid in high school, my close friend was that classic All-American, popular and universally liked kid in the school who played on the varsity basketball team. But we convinced him senior year to do the musical instead. And one time after rehearsals he just paused and said “Oh my god…I’m Troy Bolton” 😂
If you liked the teen Zack Efron acting YOU HAVE to watch "17 again" . It's so fun, although it has some things that are kind of wrong but that is what makes it GLORIOUS. I've dreamed about you watching it since I saw it for the first time. Send you a hug from Spain guys, you really lift me up with your videos.
Even though most people my age say they don't like HSM, when "breaking free" is played at a party everyone erupts in a collective karaoke number. I don't know why, but I love it
“Drama kids can be a lot.” No truer words spoken. As a former drama kid who did it for all four years of high school, we were definitely a lot, most of us I’d say we were pretty cool but we definitely were kind of obnoxious especially when we were all together! Idk how our director continued letting us into shows and outings together if I’m being honest 😅 like he took all of us who could go to London this past summer to see The Globe, see shows, etc. and lord if I was him I would’ve killed us!
Based on this reaction, I think HSM2 will be your favourite. It leans into the silliness, there's a truly fantastic baseball sequence, the dances are better, and Ryan gets more of the screen time he ABSOLUTELY deserves. HSM3 is pretty good, too. It got a LOT more budget than the first two, and was actually shown in theatres, instead of just the Disney Channel. Ryan has an incredible number in it as well, if I remembering correctly. Looking forward to whatever's next!
This movie was filmed as if it were a play. It's supposed to be over the top. When characters don't see each other or transitions are more like a curtain opening/closing, it's supposed to show how it would be staged for a play.
I honestly feel like these movies get better and better in production, music, and overall feel. HSM2 is super fun, and HSM3 is SUCH a good movie in terms of costume and set. Id give them a shot!
Love this reaction so much!! I will say as a former dancer, Gabriella’s version of stage freight is actually super relatable. I had always been more comfortable performing in front of strangers (like at the start) or when I couldn’t see the crowd. In a situation like the call back, when it’s an auditorium full of people I know and I could see them…. Yea I would have had problems too no matter how many performances I had already done in different environments
the production value goes SIGNIFICANTLY higher with the following 2 movies for both this AND camp rock. im excited for your reactions if you decide to do them :)
Kenny FREAKING Ortega is literally the reason for every ounce of happiness in my childhood! Just look up everything he’s had a hand in it’s incredible!! Even his latest projects like Descendants and Julie and the Phantoms are so entertaining, I actually enjoy watching them with my nieces and nephews 😂😂
I had an "old looking" friends in high-school. We went to an open house at a local university and they thought he was my dad. And then his soul died on the spot. Lol
How could you not like bop to the top? It was so loved that they brought the song back for a Disney show Suite life of Zack and Cody. I wore that dress for Halloween. I adored sharpay
I watched this movie maybe once all the way through when it came out, but the way that it's cemented into my head is wild. You really couldn't escape from these songs.
I'm so excited for y'all to see Chad be a consistent himbo in this trilogy. The next movie is my favorite of the trilogy. 2 and 3 have the BEST of the HSM songs. Iconic!
42:34 ironically, there is one instance where that actually turns out to be true: Ballet. If you're trying to become a ballet dancer, you literally cannot afford to not have it be your entire focus. You have to eat, breathe, and sleep, ballet, without fail. And that's if the people in charge think you even have what it takes to actually be a professional ballet dancer. Make no mistake, ballet dancers are the real badasses when it comes to athleticism.
Singing in front of strangers that you’ll never see again is so much easier than potentially fucking up in front of your peers who you have to see right after
Do you know what I love about you guys? You’re relationship is like the definition of ‘Let’s discuss this’ And I am here for it. People need to be able to have different opinions and have discussions without it turning into a shit show and you guys are such a good example of that. 😊💕
Fun fact: I actually played Ms.Darbus in a stage production of HSM while I was in high school. I stole the show and had a ball. Those heels were painful, though.
I just love the fact that the entire message of this movie is "People will put labels on you, and it's okay to venture out of them and expand your horiozons". The movie doesn't make the characters choose between their passions, it allows them to do everything at the same time. (Also the songs are bangers, I will not take any critisism)
The big question here is what is the musical "Twinkle town" actually about 🤣🤣🤣 my sister and I have been wondering about this for years. They should've made a movie about the actual musical.
If the songs you're the only one and breaking free are from the musical then the story of the musical is probably a mirror of the movie plot in a different setting.
Could very well be. The reason we are so curious is because there seems to be a camel prop being made along with other odd props. I still think twinkle town wouldve been a great side movie in the HSM series
Pop locking still happens, especially in dance crews,or underground street dancers there's always someone who loves old school hip hop dancing. Like the boogaloo or breaking 🤷🏾♀️ my older brothers,a couple of my cousins and my ex and some of their friends used to be in a dance crews together in compton
The funny thing is, that “opera girl” actually would be cast in any musical, not as the lead, but in some secondary role because I feel like any musical needs a soprano
High School Musical is what brought musical movies back to being popular. The franchise will always hold a special place in my heart. I had a hard time with my health in high school and this came out during that time, it was a nice way to take my mind off the hard moments. So glad this franchise was made.
The hardest thing about dancing on a stage is exiting with stage lights. What makes it so hilarious to me is that the lights weren't even on and he just crashed lol. But that guy's tour jete =goals. Awesome content as per usual guys thank you
Fun fact about the music from this movie: the soundtrack for HSM1 was actually the best selling album of 2006 globally. I think the second one was the 2nd best selling for 2007 (beaten by a Josh Groban album). I guess that just goes to show what phenomena these movies were back then. I remembered this when you commented on the music not being as good as other DCOM's. I personally thought they were all just okay too.
High school musical was made as a modern adaptation and retelling of grease, and I love it so much, it's such a nostalgic franchise to me and I'm sure pretty much everyone else me age, it pretty much was my whole childhood (and watching high school musical three again as someone just about to finish university hit wayyyy to close to home 🤣🤣)
Man haven't watched this in forever. Still know all the songs though. I remember when this came out, my friends and I would all be outside trying to reenact the whole thing 😂
To be fair...Sharply and Ryan kinda dedicated their whole lives to theatre, and they really put the effort in every performance, from the singing, to choreography and even the costumes. Plus you would want a leading cast that's focused on the play and not it being just like hobbie that they have to squeeze in their schedules. I would have given the part to Ryan and Sharpay for the simple fact that Troy and Gabriella were late both times and this is a recurring thing in the trilogy in which they always end up screwing things up for Sharpay including the musical at her own country club and then purposefully ruining her audition to get into Julliard, I'm just kinda glad Sharpay moved on from that and ended up being a real Broadway star.
Well let's not forget that all of the Wildcats in the 2nd movie were participating in a employee talent show, which they could as employees and Sharpay sabotaged them because she was trying to date Troy and get him to like her...when he had a girlfriend. Sharpay isn't as innocent as I feel most people make her out to be. Of course, I do agree with the points of preferring a cast who would commit to a musical when it comes to the first HSM
@@mikmak4559 in the second movie she was trying to win over a guy by getting him a bunch of opportunities. i dont think she had malicious intent, she just thought that he would appreciate it. its like she learned being nice to a guy is how you get him to like you, and then she went overboard with it. he was the one who agreed to the performance because she was helping him so much - and he spent the whole time moping about it and then bailed on it
I was a freshman in high school when this was released so you can just imagine how I made every song in the HSM movies the soundtrack of my life. Yes, I made sure every song would fit in a part of my life somehow. lol 🤣
At the time, there wasn't really any musical movie that united everyone like this. HSM became a hit for everyone. But this wasn't even their peak, you can see it in the budget even - their peak imo in terms of quality and success was HSM2, which is a cultural classic and way better fleshed out, specially in regards to Sharpay and Ryan. They were basically your clumsy antagonists that had the same thoughts and ideas all of the time, but in HSM2 they both start showing who they are individually and it only adds to their characters and the movie. + the songs are awesome and Zac starts actually singing! HSM1 is a bit like Shrek 1 in the sense that no one really thought it would become the huge franchise it became, they were just having fun with the project, and while the first isn't the best, it's still a classic.
In the US oftentimes coaches or gym teachers have offices in the locker rooms. I think they’re meant to be present to prevent drama mostly and stop people from wandering the halls when everyone is dressing down. I had a lovely gym teacher who had period supplies and lotion and stuff if we needed it. Her locker room office was always open if we needed something.
As someone from Canada who also went to an arts high school, I’ll say that while some people can be genuinely supportive, the arts here can also be pretty competitive. Especially being in a high school where people were creative, the general unspoken rule was that if you were good, people were more competitive or critical of you, or those people who were good were just very rude. But there’s exceptions to every rules. Not sure how it is anywhere else.
Also, in the states, coaches kind of have full range of discipline of their athletes. Late, run laps. Miss a day, 20 towel pushes. Up downs, quick feet, suicides (a type of running back and forth in a gym that is super brutal).
You will probably notice when/if you watch the second one but Zac didn't sing for this movie an actor named Drew Seeley did. From the 2nd movie and on its Zac's voice singing. He even did the High School Musical tour instead Zac

It’s so strange for it to be winter, I’m bundled up in three layers, outside is covered in a blanket of snow, hot chocolate in hand, and yet..y’all wearing muscles shirts. I know it’s summer over there but it’s a shocking juxtaposition. Hahahah
I actually loved hearing your commentary on this movie! I’ve seen it so many times throughout the years that 1. Nostalgia makes it hard for me to see it in non-biased light and 2. I didn’t notice as much how poorly some things have aged
I went to a very small high school so cliques weren't really there but I do remember junior high and everyone was separated into little cliques depending on their interests. I think this movie is pretty consistent, at least for the early 90s to early 2000s to how school was.

Cinderella Story 2 was kind of amusing until I learned about their creepy age gap.
@@caro12347 not in the first film. In the first film all the singing was drew seeley. In the second it was a mix. In the third it was all Zac. Do some research.
@@_mermaidguts you have serious issues.
WAIT THAT WAS DREW SEELEY? No wonder I liked his voice so much.
FACTS
I still just find it funny that the actor who plays musical hating Chad, has done shows on Broadway and is a super talented performer. 😁⭐
And easily the best dancer in the cast (besides the choreographers who appeared in the movie). That's one of the reasons I think I Don't Dance from HSM2 is so entertaining 😆
@@lillian8067 I don't dance is always super entertaining! I love it so much
@@lillian8067 mmmmm, I’d argue that Lucas Grabiel (Ryan) is up there too. Him and Corbin are fighting for the top spot the whole damn trilogy
Ik this is late, but also that fact that he doesn’t know how to play basketball in real life makes it even better 😂.
Troy and Gabriella’s relationship isn’t really just about them singing together. While that is a big part, it mainly has to do with the fact that they have this deeper understanding of each other that everyone else around them don’t have.
“Well, that was disturbing. Go see a counsellor.”
Now that’s a quote for the ages! The Drama Teacher is a Queen.
Hsm2 unintentionally (or it was intentional and Disney just wouldn't let Kenny show it explicitly) had one of the most iconic gay songs. Ryan's and Kelsi are honestly the best characters.
No, because if it was unintentional, then what was this clothing switch between the scenes?
@@vestox i always thought the clothes switching was kinda like two teams exchanging jerseys, just taking it farther.
Yes, because what was this clothing switch between him and Ryan? Between the scenes, with no explanation? I have questions
When I heard him say that I was like "Just wait until you watch the second one 👀"
yes, we ship chad and ryan LOL
Okay, but Another Cinderella Story is my comfort movie. I treat myself by watching it on my bday every year lmao
Yes love this argument
I don’t really agree with the argument. You can be a victim and still be a shitty person
@@kirag9509 Sharpay is no victim.
Mine was more focused on band than the sports. Something I always found odd.
Those athletes are up to nothing right now, but the band and choir people are doing so good in life
We just keep getting closer to the Cheetah Girls trilogy!! I love it

When they finish the trilogy they definetly should react to Sharpay's movir
Also Let it Shine
Jump in is basically this movie lol
@@Jlboynes YES omg Let it Shine was my ish for sure like it's so good - way less cheese (don't get me wrong, love cheesy stuff tho) and a teeny bit more realistic
The cheetah girls is actually so great! The music, the NY vibe, the different struggles that each girl goes through!
I love Ryan so much and the scene where he can't read makes so little sense that I just came to the conclusion that he's dyslexic and that was just never adressed.
Also, there's a post credit scene in this movie that makes me LOL so hard every time.
Fun fact: Corbin (the actor who plays Chad) actually designed all of his t-shirts by himself because he wanted to give some character to Chad!
Woah. That's cool.
they arent saying it BUT things like singing and baking are seen as "feminine". in the real world (at least from personal experience) they would have been called "girls" and the F-word for engaging in these activities. i was
I'm sorry you experienced that 😔
if you look long enough everything is rooted in misogyny and homophobia. i'm sorry that people were assholes and hope you're in the better environment now
yeah, when i took home ec, there were barely any guys and the guys who were there just didnt wanna do another elective and had us (the girls) do most the work.
"the production level is surprisingly high" just wait until the sequels! fuck, 3 was a a full theatrical release, this shit was so huge lol
They literally discussed that themselves without the fancy vocab.
Fun Fact: Ryan and Sharpay (Ashley and Lucas) actually hated each other during production of the first movie but later became good friends🤙🏽
the amount of pure shock when gabriela comes out of her "hiding spot" in the bathroom was all I needed today xD
i'm SO hyped for you guys to watch the second movie. it has, in my opinion, the best song in the trilogy and maybe of any DCOM, "I Don't Dance." it's a song between Chad and Ryan and it is a BANGER
YESSSSS BIG BRAIN
Is this the obligatory:
“Did you know: Zach Effron didn’t actually sing during the first movie because of puberty”
comment that’s probably already been posted 30 times already?
Netflix better give us season 2
I second this...Julie and the Phantoms pretty great.
AGREED IT'S SO GOOD
For the record, Lucas Grabeel wanted play Ryan Evans as gay.
Also on holiday it was in front of people she would never see again, these were her friends and classmates

Okay, watching as an adult, if I was a theater teacher, I’d hate kids like Sharpay. I wouldn’t mind her brother, he’s adorable and pretty awesome, but the sister, I’d be kinda concerned.
“How dare you yell at the pianist who’s legit supposed to help you you harlot.”
I’d keep the harlot part to myself.
She's that entitled and whiney rich kid that nobody likes. Kind of like Rachel from Glee, but worse.
I definitely agree with that!
Then in the third one, with those ENORMOUS BANNERS hanging from the ceiling 😆 like what school would ever do that??
I feel like in America the jocks really did get away with everything. They weren’t necessarily mean but they were exclusive and the teachers let them get away with more (this only really applies to the boy jocks if we’re being honest though)
It’s still very true now, sometimes the teachers don’t even make them wear there masks and let them leave class and do all types of crazy stuff
I never saw the third. Should I? I liked the first, and really enjoyed the sequel.

When you react to high school musical 2 you'll notice Zack Efron's hair is jet black. That's because he had just finished Hairspray where he played Link Larken and had to dye his hair black for the show. During the filming of High School Musical 2, he grew his hair out causing the color to fade. So if you're wondering why his hair is black in some scenes, black and brown in other scenes, and back to brown, that's why.
Quote of the Day: “I’ve got the confidence. I just don’t like finger guns.”
Also, I had zero idea the relationship between the sports and the arts was so bad among y’all 😭 sounds like it sucks.
😂
If you liked the teen Zack Efron acting YOU HAVE to watch "17 again" . It's so fun, although it has some things that are kind of wrong but that is what makes it GLORIOUS. I've dreamed about you watching it since I saw it for the first time.
Send you a hug from Spain guys, you really lift me up with your videos.
Even though most people my age say they don't like HSM, when "breaking free" is played at a party everyone erupts in a collective karaoke number. I don't know why, but I love it
Kelsey is the hero of this trilogy no question
“Drama kids can be a lot.” No truer words spoken. As a former drama kid who did it for all four years of high school, we were definitely a lot, most of us I’d say we were pretty cool but we definitely were kind of obnoxious especially when we were all together! Idk how our director continued letting us into shows and outings together if I’m being honest 😅 like he took all of us who could go to London this past summer to see The Globe, see shows, etc. and lord if I was him I would’ve killed us!
I'm so excited for you to watch this! I used to watch HSM so much that the disk no longer works 😭😅
Luckily now it’s easy to stream aye 😋 - Sam
Kelsey didn’t need a ‘I’m a hot woman because my hair is open” treatment 😂
Ryan is easily the best character in these movies and his iconic hat game is a large part of it
Love this reaction so much!!
"Evaporate, tall person!"

I missed that. XD

Iconic!
Stef starting off with Stereotypical Italian. A mood.
THE MOVE FROM ZAC'S BABY VOICE TO DREW SEELEY NEVER FAILS TO MAKE ME HOWL.

Like the boogaloo or breaking 🤷🏾♀️

LMAO not the DUN DUN sound when Gabriella turns around and find Troy on the balcony. omg 🤣
Awesome content as per usual guys thank you
Zac Efron is so beautiful! Also, I was a low-key theatre kid. So much tea, so much snobbery.
Kenny Ortega also choreographed dirty dancing! Yes, a legend.
I like this more than Grease. XD
Yeah, the production was crazy for a 2006 movie! I always loved their musical numbers, they are so intense and cheesy but also a ton of fun 😅
Man haven't watched this in forever. Still know all the songs though. I remember when this came out, my friends and I would all be outside trying to reenact the whole thing 😂
WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE TWO DOING IN A TREE?!
Sharpay tried to sabotage everything troy and Gabrielle did, even their relationship in the second movie..
#JusticeForSharpay
Are you joking?? Sharpay was so creepy with her quid pro quo self. She totally tried to manipulate Troy, ESPECIALLY in the 2nd movie...
✨What the heck are those two doing in a tree?!✨
the way ryan and sharpay are supposed to be villains but troy and gabriella got shamed by their own friends lmao

I went to a very small high school so cliques weren't really there but I do remember junior high and everyone was separated into little cliques depending on their interests. I think this movie is pretty consistent, at least for the early 90s to early 2000s to how school was.
