In this review of the RunCam5 action camera we take a look at the full specifications, compare different flight footage shot in all of the available modes. I also show you how to adjust the camera settings via the RunCam app, as well as completely manually by changing values in a text file on the SD card. Finally, I show you how to use a program called Superview with RunCam5 to produce dynamically stretched videos.

Awesome Review / Guide. I began to love when people who review Camers blend in the current resolution in every video shown. That way viewers get a good idea on what settings you are flying when considering to buy the product. And it is always nice to see how the video looks and if it suits your needs. Thank you for the thorough review! I also have the RunCam 5 myself, but I've only had time to test it out twice and my initial results had some weird very subtle jittering in the 2.7k resolution. I kind of think in your examples the 1440@60 looks lot more fluid or stable than the bigger resolutions as well...
It could easily be the case. I shoot 99% of the videos I shoot with RunCam5 at 1440@60, just because I really want those 60fps for the types of flying I do. I would imagine you could get good results at lower fps if you fly slow and smooth cinewhoop style, but have not tested this extensively yet :)

Thanks for this video. What is the smallest drone you suggest that can carry this camera? Can a 2-inch 2S do it?
You could probably carry it on a GEPRC CinePro 4K or similar cinewhoop, but at that point, maybe you're better off just using the on board Caddx Tarsier for recording. If you really much carry the RunCam5 at all costs, I'd experiment with maybe the GEPRC Phantom on 3S or something similar. But I can't help but wonder about your exact use case and requirements, because I feel like there are better solutions, depending on what you really need. Split cameras such as the Caddx Turtle V2 and others are pretty awesome and will get you very far without sacrificing too much in terms of performance.

Does the camera connect to your phone for control?
I do the short press on my runcam orange and it doesn't flash the green button like that for recording..it makes a beep sound but still stayed steady..

As long as you spray it carefully without damaging the lense or the reset button hole or the sd card slot etc., perhaps it will be ok? Hard to tell, since I've never done it myself. I'm not aware of a setting to stop the beeping sound.
Can I use this cam with my fpv goggles if so how do I connect it for the video do. Need to buy a transmitter? Thanks anyone
No, you cannot use the RunCam5 as an FPV camera. For that you need a dedicated FPV camera that's gonna take the picture and pass it directly to a VTX (video transmitter) or thru the flight controller pass it to a VTX for transmission. Depending on what you need, one of the cheapest way to add FPV to literally anything is this bit.ly/eachine-vtx-camera-aio .
What is XV in the resolution option for?
It's linear stretch - means that the whole 4:3 image gets stretched into 16:9, equally. You can also dynamic stretch yourself, for example following the process I've explained in: blog.georgi-yanev.com/fpv/runcam-5-review-setup-superview/#post-processing
The benefit is that dynamic stretching stretches less in the center and more towards the end of the image.
Does it have shutter mode to take pictures
As far as I can recall I don't think so. One way to go around this would be to extract a frame out of a video I guess.

@@Engineers4U Sure. In general with the way we fly FPV drones at speed I'm not sure how successful you can be taking pictures. Perhaps a DJI platform drone will do a much better job at what you're going at.
Runcam 5 orange is really a pain to setup..if you don't have a manual you won't know how to turn it on because my did not come with a manual and there is a really little tiny hole you have to get to on the side and press it with like a toothpick or anything that size so it fits in there and you have to press the top button and this button at the same time..ok so I did that but now it's not recording I hold the button to turn it on and then you are supposed to hit the button one more time for recording right well guess what it doesn't record it's really a pain an a ass do you know ? Maybe you can help me to get it to record please Beacuse at this time I just want to bang my head against the wall.. a little help would be really appreciate it thank you
I would love to help out if I could. I've only had a look at the original Runcam 5 and I'm not sure how much has changed in terms of setup with the Orange. Take a look here (blog.georgi-yanev.com/fpv/runcam-5-review-setup-superview/), hopefully, some of the setup steps are somewhat similar.

Could be, could also record in 4:3 if you record in the native 1440p 60fps without stretching it. Up to you.
There are no files on my sd card no config files
