    In this FPV drone review, we are taking a look at the GEPRC Skip HD3. I'll show you how to setup the skip hd 3 from start to finish, including everything you need to know to go from getting the drone to actually flying it (Betaflight setup, binding, radio configuration and more). We are gonna look at the maiden flight footage and discuss how the quad handles, how it performs, and how it flies on different size and cell count batteries. I also managed to fly the GEPRC Skip HD3 drone in different weather conditions - from overcast darker days to sunny days to test the camera for jello in the HD footage.

    Thank you very much for your video! I have had it for a few months and I am a fan of this brand. Geprc is quality and with this drone they have proven that a 3-inch drone can already be at the level of a 5-inch drone. I have even started to make small medium-distance flights with the r9m receiver and r9m lite pro module. Because of covid19 I have been unable to fly for a while so I could not record many videos. It's a great drone, the next one will be the geprc cinequeen for film recordings, 😀

      That's just amazing. Never occurred to me you could possibly do long range on these little things. It's just awesome how far micro drones have come in just a few years! I'm a big fan. Stay safe out there man!

    I just got my Skip, 3 flights in and I am really impressed. As good as my Nazgul! I fly mine on 3s 650, bi blades and get 7min flights.

      That's awesome! Happy to hear you are enjoying it. Also always happy to hear other people's prop and battery combo. Perhaps that's one of the best things about this quad it's quite configurable and you can really adjust the performance to what you prefer. Have fun flying :)

      Thanks a lot! Still a fan, a couple of months in, this is now my go to HD cinewhoop. I fly it on 2S when I'm cruising and chilliing, but it's always nice to know I can go 4S and zip around like crazy :) It's definitely a nice one. Also got a new type of props I'll be testing soon.

    Great video found it very helpful particularly since you compared it to the Tinyhawk Freestyle and geprc Phanton, 2 other quads I am considering. Thankyou!

      Glad it was helpful! I legit love all 3 of those quads in different ways :) So whatever you go for in the end you won't be sorry, but they do fit different use cases. GL and happy flying!

    What do you like better? Geprc Phantom or this. Im stuck deciding on which one to get. I would be adding an HD micro/nano cam on the phantom if I got that one. So HD woulsnt be an issue. Great videos, love reading your blogs. Super informative, thank you for sharing your info. It is very helpful.

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you sooo much, it means a lot! Happy you're finding the content helpful. If HD is not an issue and if we assume Phantom + HD upgrade is gonna cost you as much as the Skip3 HD on its own, I think it would boil down to what batteries you have and whether you want to fly 4S and really need insane performance.
      Both can cinewhoop and cruise very nicely, handling is easy on both if you go 2S or 3S. But only the Skip3 performs like a rocket and supports 4S. On the other hand with the Phantom you have top mounted battery, so a bit better for acro, but not really super noticable with small quads.

      @mydinosaurz5479 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FPVtips Youre welcome! Keep making the videos, you’ll get bigger in no time. Especially with how much info you have. That’s a tough decision, about the same cost after the HD upgrade, I’ve heard they’re coming out with an HD phantom. Maybe I’ll wait. I don’t mind only being on 3s. And I like top mounted battery. But man the Skip looks insane!

    Do you know if these VTXs come unlocked? Or do you have to do anything special to get it transmitting on 200mW?

      Mine came unlocked, just changing the output setting works.

    Thanks, i'm interested un this beast now that the price dropped. Might be due to the more dji sells, don't u think?

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know anything for certain, but from experience from the past few years, models tend to drop in price after half a year or more. Tech moves quite fast in this hobby which is a blessing and a curse.

    Hi,
    Same setup as you but I had several rxloss. So you bind it in D16 1-8ch with telemetry?

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's right. Haven't had any issues myself so far, but I have had weird rxloss that I could not identify with the GEPRC CinePro 4K. If it's a consistent thing and if you can, I'd suggest trying out a receiver you know works, to really validate it's the receiver at fault.
      Go over all the "basic" stuff first, because you never know and it could easily be an issue with a desoldered wire, poor connection, unplugged antenna, you never know.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FPVtips I tried with the external module iRange on my xlite S. No more Rxloss... I think the internal antenna is out 😅... I'll try with an external antenna...

    I just received this quad and have a strange situation which I hope you can confirm. The FCB is obviously mounted facing forward, because of the USD port it is impossible to mount it in any other orientation. But when I connect it to headlight and watch the movement of the 3D model I find that the yaw is correct but pitch and roll are reversed. This implies the FCB is mounted facing backwards. If I apply a 180 degree correction to the yaw in headlight the pitch and roll is corrected. It seems strange having to set that correction, did you need to do this with your,s? Also, after checking motor rotation and operation in headlight and proving everything was correct I fitted the props and attempted to hover, the second the quad managed to lift off the ground all motors went to full throttle without any input from me! Any ideas why this might have happened? I was using a 4s battery with the standard tune for the hover test. Thanks for any guidance you can provide

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thanks for the question. I haven't had to do any adjustments regarding the board orientation in Betaflight. Great that you figured it out. As far as the quad going full throttle in your hover test, sounds a bit bizarre to me, although I was really surprised with how powerful the quad is and had to keep it to about 20% throttle when flying on 4S, which I found a bit challenging in the beginning. You do get used to it and if that sensitivity and power is the issue for you too, you can limit it. If not, perhaps check the channel end points and try to adjust them as accurate as possible. Good luck!

      @@FPVtips Hi and thanks for coming back to me. I had also tried to reach out to GEPRC on a couple of occasions but hadn't had a reply from them which was why I was reaching out to people who had done reviews on this quad on TH-cam. Yesterday afternoon though, saw an email from GEPRC arrive in my inbox and from then on there was a series of outgoing and incoming emails. What started as a disappointing experience ended in a pleasant one. Their English wasn't great but understandable and given it is not their native tongue I have no complaints after all communication is about being understood and they were capable enough at that. So was I able to get this quad running, in short YES I did and i am happy. What went wrong.............? It would seem that there can be some variation in the gyro alignment on the yaw axis when the FCB or gyro is being manufactured. This means that when the FCB is installed the gyro will think it is either facing forward or as in my case facing backwards. There is a setting in BETAFLIGHT to compensate for this under the configuration settings called "Yaw Degrees". Initially I had set this to -180 degrees which the quad didn't like. GEPRC told me to set it to "180 degrees". At first I was thinking isn't -180 degrees the same as 180 degrees? If I turn 180 degrees in the negative direction I end up facing behind myself the same direction as if I turned +180 degrees! But in BETAFLIGHT or in the code on the FCB it seems there is a significant difference. With a setting of -180 I get an uncontrolled takeoff at full throttle at a setting of 180 degrees I get a fully functioning quad. I guess it is the little things that always count. Just wanted to share this with you just in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

    It’s not going to fry if you are putzing around. It will fry if you go full throttle for a couple of seconds!

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even with a 2.5" prop? I never went 100% throttle, but I did go a few times 80% throttle for a couple of seconds. But it's a good point, I'll be testing how this works out in the long run. I still don't recommend this to anyone, but for me it works marvelously. I really prefer how these props fly, I don't feel like I sacrifice anything for it, based on how I fly, so definitely happy with the results.
