This by far as been the best step by step video on removing this pain in the a** rack! I want to thank you. It's people like you that saves me time and lots of money! TH-cam, you need to pay this man!
Your video is absolutely the best description and information about the crv, my daughter's crv had been a challenge to get this done but your video saved us thanks for your efforts
the bracket you dont put back is for protection of the front diferencial from being hit from anything underneath that can bang it out of place..honda knows what its doing. its there for a reason.
great video. I started my job but it's been raining and that 10mm nut on the steering column has me stuck using hand tools.. gotta get an impact and swivels on it.
I have the same problem. I live on the Big Island, and have no paved surface to work on just a layer of crushed cinder. It helps if you have some old carpet to lay down. It'l at least give you a better chance of finding dropped nuts and bolts!
I did the same thing you did and i cut the pressure line. and i got the same duralast replacement line. My line from autozone came with a oring for the fitting and i put it on. now it leaks from that fitting. Is there supposed to be an oring for that fitting or do i need to tighten the fitting down more?
How can I replace the Power Steering Rack Seal Kit for 1st Generation Honda CRV (1997 - 2001 Honda CRV RD1)? There’s excessive play in the steering system. The steering wheel is loose, “has play in it”; ATF is leaking from the steering rack.
I have this problem in mine. I checked and had one inner tie rod loose at the ball joint. I was going to just replace the inner and outer tie rods. When I noticed it leaking from the seal behind the inner tie rod. At that point I decided to replace it and return the inner tie rods
Hey so I’m changing my rack and pinion and I put everything back together, but I don’t know where to put the oil for the front differential, can you please help.
That I believe is transmission oil, when I opened it I see that it has gears and clips on the trans gears, so most likely just fill the transmission oil from the dipstick or fill plug.
For removing the diff aside from the 4 bolts and driveshaft do I need to remove anything else? I've gotten mine part way out but it feels like it's hanging on something. I don't want to force it out and damage anything, so figured I'd ask before taking another stab at it. Great video by the way, this was super helpful.
@@karenguiceberry I should have edited my original comment. I did eventually get it off, the trick was that the shift cable linkage had a bolt or two that needed to be loosened so it could drop a few centimeters down. That allowed the diff to slide right out. You can see the linkage that needs to be moved at 12:29 (the fluid is draining off of it). I don't recall exactly where the bolt was to loosen it, but it was close by.

Did you ever get it off? If so HOW?! I've been at it for 2 weeks and can't get it off. I'm going nuts.

Of course you leave out the most difficult part which is getting the old rack out after everything is unbolted 🤦
Exactly. I'm stuck on that now.
@@jrobertech I ended up taking off both inner ty rod ends and still had to use a little persuasion for it to come out
@@spedward8609 same but I left the right side tie rod, only pulled the driver side
Yeaaaa imma just take it to the shop for the rack 🤣🤣 #rd1groupmember 🙋🏿♂️
It’s easy if you need more info I’m more than glad to help
