Gorgeous voice and a plethora of talent throughout. I just think Portishead’s attraction and sexiness lies with coming in very slightly behind the beat. There is a subtle but dramatic entrancing inherent in the style that charms us as if we are gazing into a crystal ball. It was interesting to hear a rhythmically different version with much higher tension, however. This was like that crystal ball was being tossed around the room by the Harlem Globetrotters, and we-as the audience- were fixated on every crescendo
As I had not heard the original, I figured by the comments here that this would not be good. Instead, it is phenomenal, and anyone who doesn't like it clearly came here to listen to the original, not a cover.
This is truly mind blowing. Possibly the best like a version ever... Haunting, emotive, full of energy and soul, playful even, and with a superb crescendo. This is a joyous roller coater ride through one of the best settings in history. Thandi (and your incredible crew) you blew my mind.
Wow I know i clicked the link, however I had to double check. Thandi's voice is elevating in the best possible way, accompanied by her band made me forget the woes I have to face today if only for a moment. However a moment is all I need
Now this is a cover! Took. Trip hop classic and turned it into a Soul/ Electronic song in the vein of what someone like Mark Ronson would produce. Congratulations!
Dude. Oh my god. That was amazing. I love this song and your cover was incredible! That’s how you make a good cover! Add to it. Give it a new perspective. Don’t copy & paste. This was beautiful!
Agreed. Part of being a good singer is conveying the emotion of the song and while this is a technically excellent execution of the material, the feeling just isn't there and it isn't believable. I think the chorus also takes away from the loneliness of the original song.
Great performance. I heard it this morning on the way to work and the girl I take to work had never heard it before. She loved it so I pulled out the CD with the live Portishead version. She said it just showed how good this like a version is especially considering the live Portishead version had a full symphony orchestra backing it.
😮 straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I never thought anyone would be able to cover it adequately. You guys have gone above and beyond that! Amazing performance!!
Kinda confused by the effusive comments, and some even saying it surpassed the original! I was expecting something great... but it just turned a great, unique song into a bland by-the-numbers soul song. Like, she obviously has a great voice, but this arrangement is so boring. They took everything strange and beautiful about the original, shined it up and smoothed it out and made it vapid.
agreed. a pop singer with a "live-band" pop production doing a torch song!? just doesn't work. if this had been my introduction to the song (and i have a feeling that many of the likes are from young 20 somethings who have never heard the original) i would have thought the song wasn't anything special. they glossed it up so much that it lacks the emotional depth of the original. Kali Uchi's did a better (albeit, faithful) cover of Bjork's Venus As A Boy that didn't rob us of the sensual emotion of the original tune, but gave it her luscious touch. this cover, just blew glitter and facebook likes all over the tune.
@@ianmontgomery7213 He was referring to the fact that they could have corrected the colour in post (editing). :-) The cameras must not be calibrated well either.
It's fab indeed, but can we have some more credits? Like, who did the arrangement? Who are the players? Doesn't Alessia Cara deserve a credit for the snippet of "Here"?
Starting to feel sorry for the TripleJ engineers. Like A Versions used to be a drum-pad, 2 guitars and a lead vocal tucked into the corner of the studio. Now we're bringing in orchestras
Thanks for having us guys xx
Great take on a classic! Just got yourself a new fan.
Wow.... What a cover!!!!
awesome Thandi!! Wooo
Beautiful voice, v sxc lady
Great cover Thandi! Count me as a new fan
I SEE PORTISHEAD I CLICK
Agreed. :-)
Amen! 🙋
And was NOT disappointed. Wow.
That mix of the two "Glory Box" by Portishead and "Here" by Alessia Cara was bomb 🔥
4.1k views and I think I have 4K of them. I cannot get enough of this arrangement and Thandi’s vocals.
It's great, and it doesn't feel like they're trying to imitate the orginal.
Gorgeous voice and a plethora of talent throughout.

Well said!
I wish I could see a video of the sound engineering setup, then the mixing process. It is always SO perfect. wow.
Loved it although i am now playing all of Dummy on repeat
craig parsons phenomenal album
This is an amazing cover...but the OG transcends.
My ears just 😎 That was the most exceptional bunch of talented people, covering a classic, that I'd ever seen.
As I had not heard the original, I figured by the comments here that this would not be good. Instead, it is phenomenal, and anyone who doesn't like it clearly came here to listen to the original, not a cover.
It takes talent to do Portishead so well.
BETH GIBBONS NEW ALBUM WITH ORCHESTRA OUT IN A FEW HOURS WHO ELSE KNOWS
Thanks for the tip-off.
Yes I saw it! Can't wait to hear the whole thing :)
mmmm yes, got the tip-off from bleep. can't wait to hear it!
I love what you did with this song. Well done.
Cool format, this show. It’s like what I do.
This is truly mind blowing. Possibly the best like a version ever...

Thandi (and your incredible crew) you blew my mind.
meh. it was alright
You made this sound as if it was the second coming. It was a very good performance, but not that good.
It's rly hard to make a good cover from a good song. And you made an awesome cover! Thank you all the workers involved 🎉❤
Beautiful!
So many aspects to this song put together blows me away, absolutely amazing 👏
Fantastic voice, magnificent musicians and a nice twist on a monstrous song.
Wow I know i clicked the link, however I had to double check. Thandi's voice is elevating in the best possible way, accompanied by her band made me forget the woes I have to face today if only for a moment. However a moment is all I need
Simply extraordinary.
That flip near the end yes!
🔥🔥🔥
Loosebumps!
Wicked voice, amazing......
Powerful!
WOW! Just WOW!
Now this is a cover! Took. Trip hop classic and turned it into a Soul/ Electronic song in the vein of what someone like Mark Ronson would produce. Congratulations!
Strong cover! I love this song. I just made a cover by myself!
Very nice!!
Dude. Oh my god. That was amazing. I love this song and your cover was incredible! That’s how you make a good cover! Add to it. Give it a new perspective. Don’t copy & paste. This was beautiful!
Yes girl! So proud of you!
this was a joy to watch. Congrats Thandi you absolutely smashed it.
Omg beautiful cover 💜
This is fantastic. I already love that song, and this version is just as good as the original.
Would love to hear her sing this song with only the cello's 😊 Such a great voice ! Thanks for the upload and sharing ❤
😳... wow
Why is this not on Spotify 😩
What a cover! Love the original, love this!
Wicked cover
It's an interesting take, but where is the agony and the hollowness and the desperation to feel like a woman again?
Agreed. Part of being a good singer is conveying the emotion of the song and while this is a technically excellent execution of the material, the feeling just isn't there and it isn't believable. I think the chorus also takes away from the loneliness of the original song.
Superb.
love it
I fell in love with her on Just A Gent's Kid Cudi LAV, super stoked to see her in the spotlight!!
YASSSSSS 🎼❤🔥💯🎼❤🔥💯🎼❤🔥💯🎼❤🔥💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh. Wow!
I guess you guys never saw Portishead
Whoa
Wooow. One of the best covers ever. This is amazing
WOW

her skin tone is so perfect, imo
Brilliant!!
Nioce.
it's like three different songs i hear
Beautiful enough and vocally magnificent to make it her own....woman you killed it...
Sultry. ❤
Holy sh** I did not expect this to blow me away because Portishead are kinda untouchable. Ahhhhhhmaaaaaaazing
😮 straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This is one of my favorite songs of all time and I never thought anyone would be able to cover it adequately. You guys have gone above and beyond that! Amazing performance!!

That's even a better analysis than mine. :)

Agreed! it lost its magic
You are totally correct, it can't compare to the original at all. 😑
This is super dope, unbelievably captivating. TOTALLY nailed it!
The editing is worse than an episode of MAFS, red then pink... It's outrageous!
It is videod live in a Radio JJJ studios - just how the lights show up the colour.
You don't say...
@@volbromski then why did you make your comment if you already knew the answer?

!!! what!? WHAT! YEEEEEEEEES!
Great cover Thandi, I love your version, it's nice to hear a different take on the song! 💓
Incredible. Gave me chills.
Congrats to the production crew. Great sound with a great mix (at least to my old ears it is!)
Great rendition! Awesome band and vocals and with a little bit of Alessia Cara at the end.
Greetings from Canada
Holy shit this is good.
Incredible! And well done triple j, really up'd your game, what a production!
Wooooooah. Best version I’ve heard of this song. Including the original. Y’all killed it!!!
Nah... check out any of Portishead live versions, particularly the French documentary from 98
You’re tripping.
So good!
A worthy attempt but lacks cool smokey vibe of the og.
@Daniel Rodriguez heck yeah. that's awesome. To each their, man!

Best cover! 🔥🔥
Oh. Oh wow.
Awesome cover!
GORGEOUS version of one of my favorite songs evah!
WOW... this iconic song! 🙌
🔥
👏
This is simply amazing.
A beautiful example of style and sophistication. Timeless classic, awesome rendition.
Very smooth. 👌
i'm sorry they didn't get it.
my mind is literally blown.
best ever like a versionnnnnn
Damn..
Wow, she is smoking!! And sing!!!
Soooooooo good 💜
Amazing performances all round, including the guy playing the record crackle, but I'm still not sure about futzing with a Porti-shead classic...
Girl. I do not think you are matured enough yet to cover something of this magnitude. Why do you have 10000 people backing you up?
Nice fresh take on this classic track 😎.
so good
Wow goosebumps!!!! FANTASTIC
Nice arrangement.
Absolutely nailed it, wow.
*failed it. there, fixed it for you.
Nailed it. Pure Bliss
Pure pleasure
