Few songs have impacted my life as much as Teardrop did when I heard it first over the speakers at Café Paris in downtown Reykjavík. I fell so instantly in love with it that I had the waitress write the name down on a piece of paper so I could run home and incorporate it into my life, wholly... In a way that had me sitting up, countless nights, softly playing variations of it on the piano, completely lost in time and space... And now, to be introduced to Aurora, hearing her for the first time, covering this song... Feels like the whole world just shattered into uncountable fragments... and her music is somehow reassembling it piece by piece in the order it should've been to begin with... Because it now seems as if Teardrop was just a demonstrative sample of the impact music could have...

Elizabeth Fraser and the C Twins spine tingling cover of Tim Buckley's song "This mortal coil" AKA Song to the siren, although Tim's original version is extremely poignant, especially considering the tragic early deaths of both father Tim and son Jeff, the performer of the definitive version (in my opinion) on Hallelujah.
Her voice is intoxicating. Her presentation of the songs she covers like this and David Bowie's Life on Mars are just absolutely spectacular.
truth
Huh, an Icelander. You're a rare breed mate
Fallega sagt :)
So beautifully said, I couldn't have said it better myself. You write the way I feel inside.
Wow that was beautiful....
I saw cafe Paris was closed when I was there in april
The amount of talent she has is beyond this world. Captivating and enchanting. I'm simply speechless.
That is the purest voice I've ever heard. WOW!
I've never listened this version, it's so beautiful, her voice is like water across the mountain.
Teardrop is a work of art, and this really pays homage by capturing its mood. Lovely
its hard to beleve a human can sing so beautifully
her voice is so angelic, this is what you hear at the gates of heaven
This popped in my feed about a week ago.... first time listening to Aurora. Listened to all her live performances on repeat since then.
Aurora is gould and her live performances are often different from her studio versions.
If you like Aurora you proberbly like Kalandra to.
Kalandra is a Norwegian band with a female singer who I think sounds a lot like Aurora and all off their live performances are better than the orignals. 👌
Same here. God bless youtube's algorithm
shes an incredible young lady...she does a gud cover of life on mars by bowie. n to think she was young when she did these performances.
I JUST discovered her and am obsessed!! She's otherworldly!
She's not even started singing yet, it's just the instrumental intro and I'm already covered in goosebumps head to toe and there's a literal teardrop on my anatomy notes
Aurora you keep me going everyday. Thank you for continuing to be yourself in the Hollywood industry as you rise to your fame. You are an icon a role model for us all
Aurora sang (from 1:02):
Love, love is a verb
Love-is-a-doing word
Feathers on my.. breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me, makes me wider
Fearless on my.. breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my.. breath
Night, night of the bay
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my.. breath
Black flowers blossom
Fearless.. on my.. breath
Teardrop on the fire
Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my.. breath
Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my.. breath
I was so caught up in the vocal I never realised I didn’t know the lyrics or what the song is about. That’s my homework. 🙂
@@nicholasmartin297 yeah i mean, i wanna sing along.. without her vocals ofcourse..
I heard "feelers on my breath". Don't get me wrong, she's an amazing singer and I get that English is not her native language, but did no one tell her how "feather" is pronounced?
Thanks!
@@R.F.9847 To be fair though the original singer also sung the word 'Feathers' uniquely that it sounded more like 'Fearless'. As I a kid I always thought the lyrics said Fearless too
I am a lifelong Massive Attack fan and have heard some of Aurora's other music and liked it a lot. This is incredible. I love it.
Her voice sounds like a siren.
-Blythe I think you are right. I always wondered what Siren Song sounded like.
@@funkyalfonso I feel like I'd crash my ship into the rocks if I heard her voice.😂
If she was a siren, I'd have wrecked my ship and drowned in bliss.
DevilatyourDoor mood
Elizabeth Fraser - Song to the Siren - have a listen.
I imagined, there'd be mermaids watching as you slowly sunk into the dept's of the black sea.
She IS!!
That is by far the most wonderful comment I've ever read. 😄
Just started and haven't heard her sing a word and I already know it's going to be TREMENDOUS.
every time this woman opens her mouth I'm brought to tears
She's not that bad.
❤💯❤😪✌
@@SkelNeldory Aurora's voice evoque bittersweet emotions in her listeneres, that's why she make us cry, we can feel connected with her music
Yes, I found myself tearing up when she started singing! There's something about her voice that is so pure.
This. This is what I didn't have the words to convey.
Probably the best Teardrop cover I have heard. I'm awestruck.
I don't know, have you heard José Gonzales cover song ? th-cam.com/video/_6rIks03cdM/w-d-xo.html
Jose's cover is nice, but IMO it's not near as good as Aurora's. Hers has such an eerie feel to it.
Angelical
Life on mars too
My goodness....... this never ceases to spark deep emotion within me. She could inspire empathy from a sociopath.
Dead on
And she has
she's the sociopath
@@gunlancer1920 you're the sociopath
Mhathue: I will play this for my "fiance" and see if it has any effect on him.
Must admit I didn't expect that 😢 beautiful
I could just listen to her deliver melodic vocals like that all day... no lyrics, no words... maybe even no music. Just her pure voice, delivering its majestic beauty.
Then you might like this ^_^ (watch from 2 mins)
AURORA- Through The Eyes Of A Child

This plus nature boy. Her voice has the same effect as harmonic strings in an orchestra, but much more special. They can both create a feeling of epicness, tragedy and importance. Resulting in goosebumps and fullfilled mind. But also a bit of sadness.
One of our Norwegian singers we are extremely proud of
as you should ;)
Descendants of classic rock by Edvard Grig.
I’m from Liverpool but I’m not “proud” the Beatles came from there, and they’re the best band of all time. But that’s me. I haven’t asked anyone for an autograph or a selfie, ever.
A gift from Asgard indeed
aurora + liverpool fan
you have my respect
What a voice. What A Voice. And that control she have over it. Stunning.
Tears of joy falling from this song. This reminds me of some EMDR therapy I had in a room once, eight years ago, and the woman said to me, 'What happens here....is private,' with the most empathy and support for me that I'd ever felt.
Love, love is a verb

It's tumbling down (as in love falling apart)
Wow. I never realised that there were real lyrics for this song and I've had Mezzanine since it came out.
It's "night, night after day" on the original album sleeve I have. Aurora sings it thusly also. 👍
When I hear "Water in my eye, Most faithful mirror" I always get chills because its true
I'm not a fan of covers of Massive Attack, none seem to even hold a candle... then I heard this. What an experience.
This doesn't hold a candle to the original either.
I am moved.
DER FÜRST tell us how you really feel
@DER FÜRST & Elliott Gold: Your hate is poisoning you.
Agree with sentiment first part, Massive is unique. No one is going to touch Liz and Massive on a cover of the original.
Simply out of this world. Never heard anything so insanely beautiful and gentle yet powerful.
i can't say anything. my mouth is just agape and i'm utterly speechless. this is such an amazing cover, i just i can't describe it any other way.
If elves existed, Aurora would sure have to be one. Her voice is pure and straight from heaven..
If you want to see her really look like an elf, check out Through The Eyes Of A Child - Stripped (Vevo UK Lift)
Yes she doesn't really seem to age either lol
Elves exist and Aurora is human.
The best of us.
The bend she does when she sings "gentle impulsion" kicks me in the heart every time I hear this cover.
Such a hard song to cover, let alone do a bloody good job of it. This cover made me a fan of Aurora.
Same
I’ll be that guy. To me her original stuff sounds like backing track to adverts these days.
This is fucking fantastic though.
Her voice is so haunting… how beautiful it sounds…
Man, I don't know if I would have discovered Aurora if it weren't for Massive Attacks Teardrop... I only clicked on the video because teardrop is a favorite of mine. I would regret not ever finding aurora because man I'm obsessed now.
I found her by searching "Aurora borealis" on yt because I think they are pretty impressive. And then I disovered Aurora. I totally know how you feel and I am so glad that I've found her...
that makes two of us, now =D

I love this, I absolutely love this
Straight in my top 10 headphone list
Her voice is just... otherworldly. She has crazy voice control.
This gave me chills. What a great cover.
YazmanianDevil lol same here
I also got goosebumps
I wonder if she covered "Sia - Chandelier"
Absolutely Amazing.
arpeggios, that's a sick word. I had to look it up. Well said Ariel.
Would love to hear her cover Zombie!
My exact thought
I thought that as soon as she started
Solid idea
a cover from the gods
Zombie by who?
It takes a lot of energy and talent to cover a song like this that can make you cry
Skills. Forget about talent.
Holy shit... never heard of this artist, when she started singing though.... chills...
Discovered her 4hrs ago. Went to bed 11pm... now its 3am and i‘am 15-20x videos in, into the Aurora rabbit hole. I love her! No sleep tonight. She will definatly stick.
I first heard her from the fifa 16 soundtrack song was (Conqueror) been listening to her for 4 years and counting😆
Lucky you, you have a beautiful journey to go
Welcome to queendom xD
Listen to her cover Bowie on the Stern show. Outstanding
This is one of the best cover songs done on Triple J!!!!
when you get a voice like that, everything sounds better
didn't know jesse eisenberg could sing this well, bravo
lmaooooooo holy shit
w0w
oh! you goddamn right
I think this may be the most perfect vocal I have ever heard . Emotion and pure voice
What a luminous being.

Interesting fact about the original song, Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins was recording the vocals for the song when she found out her old boyfriend Jeff Buckley had disappeared while swimming in the Mississippi river in Tennessee. His body was discovered 5 days later. She considers the song to be about him in a way.
i read that on Wikipedia about this song.
Thx!
Old boyfriend or ex boyfriend?
Oh my fart I did not know that. Thank you for sharing.
I still think the fact that he wrote Song to the Siren and drowned is creepy as hell
When you discover an artist and they cover one of your fave tracks to perfection - about to delve into the world of Aurora 🧡
wish I could discover Aurora again for the first time. Enjoy!
How is it going? I took a dive into that world and it's incredible and there's no way I'm leaving.

It really is one of the most creative harmonizations I've heard.
Aurora is her own identity...an amazing beautiful songstress with a rare pure voice. Thankyou Aurora xx
