It’s not a chance if u have pyromaniac and laser commander it just auto one shots on crit and u get the funniest death anim ever which is where they explode into just a torso that then lights on fire
@@marlow7376 it is a chance, i tested it myself with all appropriate perks, occasionally you land a crit and the one-shot Fire Ball that explodes enemies does't trigger. It does trigger quite often though just not every crit.
That plus Meltdown and everything dies. I always kept it on my weapon wheel to deal with robots, it's incredibly useful especially in OWB. That's when I took Robotics Expert too.
What's really funny about the bb gun is that, seeing how damage is calculated, cowboy boosts the damage quite significantly if you Crit. Yes this weapon is affected by the cowboy perk, another reason to like it!
I'm pretty sure the cowboy perk only affects the base damage, not the crit, making the weapon go from 4+(crit damage) to 5+(the same crit damage) but if it did affect the crit damage that'd be insane
@@maestrofeli4259 it does affect crit damage, but not in a way you think. Basically perk damage boosters just multiply the damage at the end of calculation - this means that yes crit will benefit from the cowboy perk, but it also means that DT will not be pierced by it like crit boosting perks do.
One thing I'd like to mention is that boxing gloves and tape actually make your punches more deadly than your bare hands. Since they protect your hands, you can punch much harder without fear of breaking your fingers or wrist. This is why bare knuckle boxing leads to fewer concussions (although it's still extremely unsafe), punching someone's skull is really bad for your hands. I think it wouldn't have broken the game's balance to have the gloves do increased damage so idk why Obsidian made them do 1 lol
The arc welder has one niche situation where it's effective, in my opinion. One of my favorite early game strats to get a ton of money at level 1 is to go straight to lonesome road, where you can pick up the arc welder in Ed-e's pod room, and use it to pretty effectively fight the sentry bots in the silo, even on characters that aren't specced into energy weaps at all. I always play on hardcore, very hard, and this strategy works well. You can clear just the silo and end up with around 7-8k caps or more with very little effort
I hadn’t test it myself but apparently real mr house counts as an abomination so you can actually trigger the “abomination flees” text from attacking him with flare gun
i have probably replayed new vegas about like 10 times over and i’ve never heard of some of these weapons. its really crazy looking at the sheer weapon variety in this game, even if some of them are completely awful.
I think its worth it to mention the Ghosts weapons and how there is a limited amount of them in the game as they dont respawn and cant find them after exiting dead money
more like all weapons (and mods and armor) that were introduced in Dead Money is only found on Sierra Madre and nothing anywhere else notable mentions like the better versions of the Knife Spear and Cosmic Knife were only obtainable from crafting, or Demolition Charges (basically inferior Frag Mines) can only be purchased from SM vending machines if you have the code for it the only weapon brought from Dead Money that let you craft with base game items is the Gas Bomb
@@sigmazeta2044 you get a voucher in the dead money bunker that gives you chips every once in a while so you can keep using the bunker vending machine, allowing the player to get infinite demolition charges
Another amazing video! There are so many weapons in this game that I realize I've never used, as I've always stuck with Energy Weapons! I've never even seen the Flah Bang! I'll definitely be using some of these weapons on my next playthrough, especially the Flare Gun!
You made a Smash reference in your last video, which is interesting, because the editing on this one gives major AsumSaus vibes. Which is, of course, awesome.
Holyyy your editing improves soo much with each video!! A lot of care goes into these vids and it shows. You're doing an *awesome* job, keep it up 💚 I think my favorite from this list has gotta be joshua's gun, that's such a cool melee weapon idea
Fun Fact: There is actually an exploit to turn the Boxing Tape into a one hit kill weapon. But you will need a controller as the exploit involve mapping controller key plus mini nuke ammo preferably the more damaging ammo variant.
The thing about the unarmed fatigue weapons is that with any unarmed weapon you can go into vats and stomp grounded targets. Stomp has quad damage and minimal AP cost. Still, it's better to switch to a higher base damage unarmed weapon or use ranger takedown for unarmed knockdowns instead.
So I think the idea with boxing gloves/tape and fatigue damage is: Knockouts became more common once protective equipment was introduced to boxing/martial sports because people could swing harder without worrying about injury and breaking their hand/the opponent. How that translates to gameplay- idk up to the individual but it does kinda makes sense
YO i did not know the sonic emitter could be beefy like that I've always wanted to do a Dune run with it as a main weapon bc of the 1984 movie's weirding module weapons
pretty sure the idea with the boxing gloves and the other 2 similar unarmed weapons dealing fatigue damage is that boxing matches can be won by knockout
Boxing gloves don't really make your punches any safer? Your KO potential is still really high, it allows you to punch someone at full strength and also *adds* weight to your strike. In most cases, boxing gloves will actually make your punches far more effective than someone without.
minor misconception with boxing gloves is that they are supposed to protect the person your punching which is trueish but they are mainly there to protect you and your hands it is very much so possible to brutally maime someone with the gloves on
I really like projectile-based weapons and almost never use VATS. The Sonic Emitters, for their charge-up and projectile speed and range...it really makes them feel extra powerful. I also love the incinerators and grenade launching weapons...my favorite heavy gun is the regular Plasma Caster. Hitscan is pretty dull to me in a lot of ways.
If you're gonna get experimental it makes sense to try it in the last DLC, gives the player some novelty and the designer a way to test out designs for the future. Though uh, I don't think any of these ideas came back in 4 or 76 so eh...
I was so surprised with how effective the Flare Gun is when playing TTW and finding it. Why even bother with the flamethrower when you have a flair gun? xD
I don't get why the Sonic Emitter's projectile is so slow. It's literally the speed of sound... Also, I have a challenge for you. Craft a build that makes the Arc Welder a good weapon lmao
It's funny to me you put flare gun on here, so early in the vid and act like it is a rarity, a surprising weapon. You just need to play Lonesome Road and you get pretty quick what the gun does and is used for. I find too many players sleep on it and idk why, making Deathclaws flee is useful and fun to me
Sonic Emitter - Tarantula has a Chance on Crit to One Shot whatever it hits, btw literal one shot, you can Kill anything including Gojira in one hit

The reason they set it to 1 is because they’re intended to be the non-lethal hand to hand option. They’re for if you don’t want to do damage

7:27 Grenades are completely unusable without VATS in general, since VATS instantly deploys the grenade at the target's feet which almost always hits.
