I have lived in Greece for over 35 years . Before moving there in my mid-thirties ( from America) I never ate olive oil but love it now. I eat it on almost everything and use no other oil nor do I use butter or margarine. I hope this will help me as I age. I’m 73 and have no health issues other than arthritis in my knees. I also eat a plant based diet with a little meat once in awhile, no processed foods.

How do you find a good genuine olive oil? I read so much on the market is not a hundred percent pure.

    Hi Dr Hashmi,
Is it possible to slow down or possibly even holt autosomal dominant kidney disease through nutrition, fasting and supplementation?
Everywhere I read says it’s incurable, but I can’t find any accounts of anybody who tried anything outside of the box… they all just get led down the same path…. I really feel that patients can have at least some say as to how severely the gene expresses.
This genetic kidney disease is not polycystic, it’s more of a blocking of the tubules and filters over time… but it’s hereditary.
    Thanks in advance, Steve

There is research going on to see if senolytics can be used on organs of people who have died to have more available for transplants. Maybe that will work. I wonder, would it be possible to remove one kidney of a patient, apply senolytics to it and put it back? The person would have to live with only one kidney for a few days maybe, the time it'd take to apply the senolytic to the other. And 3 months later the same would be done on the other kidney.

Metformin is a helper but the real fixer is diet. Diabetes is a metabolic disease so it needs a metabolic solution. Cut out simple carbs. Lasagna, ravioli, bread, soda, muffins, cakes, tortillas, fruit juices etc . Get rid of all that stuff. Eat lean meat (if you're not plant based) and vegetables. If you stick with this, along with the Metformin; your blood sugar will drop. Low carb. As you improve add beans. It took me about 3 years to heal. It's a long road, but you will get there. Get a blood sugar meter, and check it every morning after not eating for 10 hours. You want to get it below 100. I am now in the 80s daily. I still take Metformin. Also, stop eating early. Don't snack and do not eat at night. You need 22 hours without food so your body can burn glucose without more glucose entering the body.
