I've had a theory that ever since Avatar Studios was announced that they might be moving towards one-shot trilogies and letting Avatar Studios tell the more in depth stories. If so, I can see them doing an Ozai's Angels trilogy starting with the Azula one with Mai and Ty Lee getting the others and one for Korra's team Avatar staring with Mako with Asami and Bolin getting the others.
100% Avatar Studios is why we are not advancing the main story beyond Imbalance or Ruins of the Empire in the comics. We know Mike and Bryan specifically requested a switch to this style of comics for the ATLA comics post Imbalance and Avatar Studios is clearly the why.
@@AirspeedPrime It’s interesting because you’d think despite wanting to keep the major stories for animation, they’d still be able to give a quick “Yes/No” to a short summary of say 1-3 Dark Horse trilogy pitches regarding whether or not they’re happy to allow them to tell a slightly less consequential trilogy story (one that doesn’t interfere with their ideas), or whether they’d rather save it for animation. Not a complaint by any means, the whole situation is just rather intriguing.
I really want to buy this and I probably will, however when it comes to future one-shots like Azula in the Spirit Temple I don't want to wait another year to read the comic. So the dilemma here is should I buy it when it first comes out or wait for the box set with the poster?
Definitely disappointed that it seems like this trilogy of one shots won’t be getting a library edition. I quite like the format and just prefer that consistency on the shelf. I will pick this up because I like the new art and poster, but it certainly makes picking this up less exciting than the library edition.
Not that I know of, I wouldn't even know where an official statement like that would come from. This seemingly being the replacement for a library edition suggests a switch from Library Editions to this, but we don't know what they will do next.

Beautiful slipcover. I love the poster too. Might have to double dip to get this. I loved all three comics.
